Cisco 7905G SIP firmware needed
To get the SIP firmware for these phones, you need to buy a Cisco SmartNet support contract (about $75 USD in the USA, though I've heard rumors a Europe-only contract exists for about $10 USD.) You can purchase one through most Cisco resellers. That will give you access to Cisco's download site. Configuration of these phones under SIP is not quite as straight forward as it is with SCCP,

Fwd:[Vocal] Question about Cisco IP hard phones
Interesting notes on the 79xx series. The 7920 is the wireless phone; not mentioned here. For a more complete guide to Cisco's phones, see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheets_list.html The 7902 is the "very inexpensive" Cisco phone, and it looks like it will be SCCP (Skinny) only. Twiddling my thumbs here waiting for the chan_sccp to

Troubles with voicemail and cisco 7905 SIP
I'm deploying a fairly large number of Cisco 7905 with SIP connected to an asterisk PBX. The problem: the 7905 has this nice "feature": You can set a "voice mail number" in configuration, so that you can listen your voice mail just by hitting the "messages" key on the phone. It just autodials "8500" or whatever else. The customer wants this, so

Cisco 7905 and as5300 + Asterisk
I've got asterisk working great with cisco 7905 sip phones. I've just got one issue that I can't figure out. I have a 5300 connected to the PSTN via PRI. When I send a call from the 5300 to asterisk it will ring the 7905 phone for 4 seconds then drop. This is because the only message asterisk sends to the cisco is the 100 trying message. The 5300 receives that and sends a call

Open Source SCGP
Hey, Someone told me an open source SGCP gateway was created for the Asterisk project. I'm looking for a little more information. I have two VG248s that I'd like to attach to my VoIP network; however, Cisco's documentation seems to indicate that Cisco CallManager is required for these things to operate. Cisco CallManager being a 10,000 dollar application, I would like to find

Cisco CP-7905 phones
Hey list! Some people are auctioning Cisco CP-7905 phones on Ebay, and I was wondering if those supported SIP. I think I saw something on voip-info.org about this, but I would like someone who has the same phones to confirm this. Anyone can? Good quality? OR If anyone knows of a place that sells those phones for a good price, I'd be interested. Buying a 250$US Cisco 7960 from Canada is

Re: Problem converting a Cisco 7960 to SIP
Hello all, I've got myself into a bizzare situation that I can't seem to get myself out of... Was wondering if anyone had some advice that might get me 'over the hill' on this... Some background: PBX consists of an Asterisk box (running TrixBox), 4 Cisco 7960's, 2 Polycom IP500's, and now an additional Cisco 7960. The phones are all on a separate LAN. There is

MWI on Cisco 7905
Hi, I'm using a Cisco 7905 (with SIP image CP7905010300SIP050414A) on Asterisk 1.07. Whenever the user gets voicemail, the MWI goes on, and when the user listens to the voicemail, the MWI goes off. However, the phone is configured (as in the default config by Cisco) to re-read its configuration from tftp every hour. This 'warm reboot' also turns off the MWI, and it won't

Cisco IP Phones - FYI
Just attended the Cisco Networkers conference and sat through a presentation addressing in part the Cisco IP phones. All was presented openly without the need for disclosures, etc. The following is simply an FYI from the presentation, FWIW. Cisco 7905/7912 SIP image location (on Cisco's site)
Hello all, I feel dumb asking this, but does anyone have a link to the SIP firmware for the 7912 on Cisco's site? I have a SmartNet contract, but I just can't find the link (you can search for "7960 sip firmware" and find that fast). Thanks for the help, Jeb Campbell jebc@c4solutions.net

chan_skinny still maintained?
Hi, I've managed to acquire a few Cisco handsets (7905, 7920) and would like to use them with Asterisk. Rather than simply switching to the SIP firmware I thought I'd use these with chan_skinny - partly because this is Cisco's primary firmware and therefore the phones might be more stable, and partly to help test chan_skinny as it seems to be generally underused. (Is functionality

How to get transfer and blind transfer on 7905
I have 15 ea Cisco 7905 phones. I have them working with my Asterisk system, but I cannot get the blind transfer button on the phone to work. I can use the transfer button to work, but I don't know how to release the call after I transfer it. When I try and blind transfer, it just hangs up the phone. * and # do not work on my Cisco phones, so I can't use Asterisk's built in

Cisco 7905 vs Cisco 7905-G
Hey, Can anyone comment on the difference between the 7905 and it's upgrade, the 7905-G ? Has anyone used these phones in a configuration? Is SIP well implemented in the 7905 ? Thanks in advance, Mat

Cisco 79xx series IP phones
Shawn, That's a complete load of manure. I have an office full of 7960's, they work great with asterisk with the SIP images loaded. I'm about to pick up a lot of 7912's (simple one line phones, same as the 7905 but it has a built in switch). These phones have also been confirmed to work with Asterisk. I would recommend not going directly to cisco, and just find a reseller who

Cisco 7905
Can anyone tell me the features of the Cisco 7905 with SIP? I mean things like number of lines, speakerphone, transfer buttons, etc. I've seen the Cisco material, but all it told me was how nifty it is and how wonderful the XML interface will be ;) Thanks, --Ernest

Cisco 7940/7960 SIP functionality questions
Hello, I'm considering using Asterisk with some type of Cisco phone, and currently considering either the 7940 or 7960 because of its more-complete functionality (compared to the 7905). I'm currently wondering: Do all the expected functions (transfer, conference, voice mail, message waiting indicator, etc.) work normally with Asterisk over SIP? What caveats are known about using

* Call Monitoring
I've got a nagios plugin making sure the * box is up, but I would like to do more than that. I need to make sure the PRIs connected to my box stay up and I need to make sure calls are not failing for any reason. Are there any * monitoring packages like this? -Daniel

Cisco 7905 - vad, cng
How to disable silence suppression (or Voice activity detection - VAD) on Cisco 7905 phone? On Cisco 7940 I use "enable_vad: 0", but I can't find anything similar for 7905. -- Tomislav Parcina tparcina#lama.hr

Netgear FS116P and Cisco 79XX phones
I am hoping that someone has had better luck with this than I have. I would like to connect Cisco 7940s and 7960s to the Netgear FS116P, and take advantage of its POE. I know that the Cisco phones use Cisco's "pre-standard" POE implementation, but as I understand it the difference is really only two pins. I bought a bunch of PowerDsine inline power adapters which supposedly change
