Why should I answer a Newbie question, there thick!
It would be nice just for once to actually use a mailing list with people who are a little more sympathetic to the fact that your not a rocket scentist or molecular biologist and that you might actually need some help, without being made to feel like your completely useless and should be cleaning toilets for a living. "Ahhh man not another stupid newbie question! are these people completely

"Register Attacks" End of ENUM ?
Hello again! after it being "relatively quiet" her for the last weeks, my Astrerisk server was the target of 3 of that nasty REGISTER attacks during the last days. While I can see not much danger coming from these attacks (I use very long, complicated random generated passwords), they are still very annoying, because they always lead to my server crashing. (I think it's some out of

This has to go to: - modem that operates in half bridge mode (no nat) to a linux firewall (does natting ip is

Setup to dial out only on voip (Broadvoice) not PSTN?
I've been trying to get a new asterisk box setup with Broadvoice for over a week now. I have it connecting and registering with them according to 'sip show registry', I can't dial out through it, but it does dial out through my regular phone line. I'd like to set it only to dial 911 through that line and have all other calls go over voip. I've checked out a bunch of

Traffic prioritization and 'class of service' for SIP
We're got a T1 from Sprint that we use for internet. During VIOP calls, if you download something, the VOIP calls break up. I found some info at Sprint for adding 'class of service', and I also have some information on configuring our Cisco routers. I've read the relevent pages on the wiki, but it seems vauge what's required and what's required by the NSP (Sprint).

Call Xfer issue between DataCenter and User Site
Hi, I am running a Asterisk 1.6 box in our Data Centre, and have a number of users connecting to that box, as their PBX. Calls in and out work fine, as does voicemail. The PBX at the Data Centre has an External IP, Nat?d to it by the firewall, and the relevant ports are open. The Office users have a dedicated internet connection for the phone lines, and calls are seen to traverse this

Appropriate measure of correlation with 'zero-inflated' data?
I have reached the correlation section in a course that I teach and I hit upon the idea of using data from the weekly Bowl Championship Series (BCS) rankings to illustrate different techniques for assessing correlation. For those not familiar with college football in the United States (where "football" refers to American football, not what is called soccer here and football in most

Data source for American college football rankings?
An interesting, and topical, example of multivariate data for classroom illustrations are the American college football rankings. Starting at the end of October (or "week 8", the 8th week of the football season) a set of rankings called the BCS (Bowl Championship Series) will be published. This is a composite ranking based on two subjective polls, the Harris and USA Today polls, and a

Asterisk build-environment in Xen-DomU
Hi, I'm trying to migrate a Asterisk build-environment from a physical to a paravirtualized machine on Xen 3.0 - on this system Asterisk don't need to run at all, it is only for building RPMs. Host OS and guest OS both are CentOS 5.2. The build of Asterisk, Asterisk-addons and Zaptel works, but MeetMe and some other components are not compiled because Zaptel was not installed on the

RE: No subject by Steve M
Just responding in case this may be of help to somebody with firewalling issues. Not sure if this is off on a tangent to the original question... Here are three different forms of common firewall scripts and ways of getting SIP to work behind them. The third one has some additional stuff beyond just SIP although I can't remember why I wrote it that way. I've been having no fun using

[RFC PATCH v6 14/92] kvm: introspection: handle introspection commands before returning to guest
From: Mihai Don?u <mdontu at bitdefender.com> The introspection requests (KVM_REQ_INTROSPECTION) are checked by any introspected vCPU in two places: * on its way to guest - vcpu_enter_guest() * when halted - kvm_vcpu_block() In kvm_vcpu_block(), we check to see if there are any introspection requests during the swait loop, handle them outside of swait loop and start swait again.
