List tips for new subscribers <--sorry for 2 nd post, missed this.

Mmm, I (respectfully) disagree. One of the unstated objectives of mechanisms like this list is to evangelize the platform. Obviously, we all want it to do well. You can only do that by creating

ggplot & annotating charts
Dear "R-listers" I've been trying to figure out how to annotate charts in ggplot (ie add text to line charts, highlighted boxes etc). By and large, I can get close to what i want with base graphics, but would ideally like to use ggplot whenever possible (additionally, i would like to add text labels automatically to the chart). The code is below I suspect I need to use geom_rect,

tag and release 0.0.36
I''m planning to tag 0.0.36 and release binaries from it. We have lots of good new methods & classes & samples (mainly thanks to Roy), and I would like to get a unicode Windows binary gem out there. TODO are integrate Scintilla on OS X and Linux, and apply Tobias''s patches to rakefiles. These''ll be for early in 0.0.37. Maybe someone with Subversion experience

Why RSpec?
I like Shoulda. Sometimes I like plain old Test::Unit. Cucumber gives me a different thought process. I''d just like to hear some thoughts on why RSpec? What does it buy me that I can''t get with Shoulda? I just can''t seem to think in RSpec. Where is there a good example of RSpec tests that will help me grasp the right path? Thanks! -- Amos King

Not with the trademark, that is mis-appropriation. If you want to complain about Red Hat doing this, then you'll want to complain about a number of distributors well before

Unpredictables Hangups
Hello all, i'm experiencing a list of unpredictables hangup on SIP phones using a PRI E100P Card. All i can see in logs is " WARNING[81931]: File chan_zap.c, Line 5402 (zt_pri_error): PRI: Read on 37 failed: Unknown error 500" I receive a lot of these errors in asterisk/messages. It doesn't seem to be strictly linked to hangups, since i have dozen of these messages per

I lost the RSpec fight
I''ve been working on a Rails project with one other developer; he was using Test::Unit, and I was using RSpec. That works OK for a while, but obviously it starts causing pain when you have to check in two places to see if a piece of code is properly tested/spec''d, you can''t use TextMate shortcuts to switch back and forth between code and test, you have to duplicate

duplicates with multiple To/CC and sieve redirect copy
Hi, In one installation we are using sieve "redirect :copy" to create copy of the incoming email (local boss gets copy of its employees mails). There is a problem when the incoming email has multiple To/CC entries with local users. Multiple copy/redirects are created (one for each employee) and there are multiple copies in "boss" account. Each of this emails has the same

OpenVZ with asterisk 13
Dear Mitul, I already told my boss about it, I really want a single box, no virtual, but my boss insist. He said that openvz use less resource then KVM (or other virtual for cloud). I really need a solid analysis to argue with him. On the other hand, dahdi cannot be installed in openvz virtual server. I dont have any experience with openvz at all. Special functionality for Secretary/Boss
We are currently migrating from a Nortel pbx to Asterisk and we have been able to convert most of the functions that people are used to but there is one I have no clear idea how to do. The scenario is: Boss calls secretary from outside the office to get connected to another outside destination. The secretary dials the destination and then trasfers call to the boss. When boss finishes

My Boss wants background music!!!!
Dear Members, I am searching for a new PBX for the company. My choice is Astrisk. My Boss wants background music via all the telephones. This is done in a conventional PBX that he wants, but I can use the Asterisk PBX if it can do this also. As I said he needs background music on every telephone this is not to be mistaken with music on hold. The bit stream is an MP3 file of 8 Kbs. At the server
