Zyxel Prestige 2000W Firmware - EVIL
If you see a wj0011 version of firmware for Zyxel Prestige 2000W floating around
(I found it in a German forum), KEEP AWAY.
It completely trashed the wireless networking in my phone.

Cisco 7940 - Disappearing Clock - SOLVED
P.S. I _had_ read the other posts that suggest changing to unicast sntp mode.
This didn't help. I eventually setup a new ntp server on my LAN, and used it as
a sync source. Everything seems OK now.
Obviously a problem with my other ntp server.
Cheers.

ztcfg server crash
I was wondering if anyone had experienced the following with asterisk stable.
After a period of time (can vary), If I stop asterisk and try to run ztcfg -v to reinitialise my quad e1 card, the server will lock up. Sometimes it's
a complete lockup, where it won't even return pings, other times it seems to be "partially screwed".

PRI in and out
I am wanting to front-end a legacy PBX with an asterisk box. I have done plenty
of asterisk work over the last 6 months to PRI circuits, but not with a PBX
being involved.
I know I can use asterisk and digium cards in this manner, but do I need
separate cards for the PRI -> Asterisk side to the Asterisk -> PBX side, or will
a 4-port PRI card do the job? (I already have a spare one of

Wrong caller id in CDR
I posted something on this a week ago, at which time I was told that this was an
'old' issue. Since then, I've spent hours looking, but can't find the answer.
For some reason, some of my CDRs (both to CSV and MySQL) are being written with
the wrong callerid. As best as I can determine, they are being written with the
CLID of the _last_ caller to access the specific ZAP channel

Sipura SPA 2000 - Miltiple Ring Tones
When I dial a PSTN (via * with Digium Quad-E1) number, I hear two
sumultaneous ring tones. One is coming from *, the other I assume is
from the ATA. Is there an intelligent way to get around this?

spandsp rxfax under Linux 2.6 w/TDM400?
Hi,
I have got my Asterisk server running with TDM400 card (2xFXO & 2xFXS).
I originally had the system configured with a Panasonic fax machine on
one of the extensions. Due to the high volume of fax spam, I figured it
would be a much better idea to capture the faxes as TIF or PDF files to
minimize wasted paper, etc. I have downloaded, compiled and installed
spandsp and can see the rxfax

Which H.323 for Stable?
I'm new to H.323 and I have noticed that there are two separate channel
drivers for * available - the inbuilt one, and oh-323. I had trouble
compiling oh-323 with the current cvs stable, so I tried the inbiult one
(with specifiec recommended versions of openh323 and pwlib). It compiled
cleanly but I am told that it is not recommended (unstable?).
Can someone with first-hand * H.323

quadbri and spandsp
Hello, I have bought a targeta quadbri.
I want to realize a PBX server to send and to receive fax on lines BRI.
I have installed asterisk and the drivers of quadbri (bristuff_0.2.0-RC7b).
I downloaded and installed the module spandsp-0.0.2pre10
When i send a fax from the fax machine to asterisk, the application
rx_fax saves the fax in a file on the hard disk.
The problem comes when I try to send a

SpanDSP: Training failed (sequence failed)
Hello All ~
Having problems sending and receiving faxes with SpanDSP. I am testing on a
simple 2 analog POTS to 2x X100p set up, connecting one line to a Konica 720
fax machine to test, or with other remote fax machines. Voice calls are
working pretty well now. Platform is P3/800MHz/256MB/FC1.
* recognizes faxes, and passes calls to RxFax and TxFax OK, but 99.9% of the
time no fax content is sent

Zaptel Line Build Out
Can someone who is knowledgable in the traditional telco space please give me a
layman's explanation (or point me to an appropriate url) of LBO as per the
zaptel configuration file?
# The line build-out (or LBO) is an integer, from the following table:
# 0: 0 db (CSU) / 0-133 feet (DSX-1)
# 1: 133-266 feet (DSX-1)
# 2: 266-399 feet (DSX-1)
# 3: 399-533 feet (DSX-1)
# 4: 533-655 feet (DSX-1)

OT: Online TTS engines?
The one I like:
http://www.rhetorical.com/cgi-bin/demo.cgi
is toast. I think they went broke or got aquired by someone. Also, is there
a Festival voice that sounds as good as Rhetorical or the AT & T stuff? The
default one is barely legible. Since Festival is a little brutal to
configure, I'd like to get someone's recommendation then go through the pain
of reconfiguring it only once.

TxFAX problem
Hi Ppl.
Once, couple weeks ago when I have updated * from CVS-HEAD something
happen and I could not send a fax anymore.
After that I have tried previous * CVS versions with different versions
of spandsp (0.0.1, 0.0.2pre4, 0.0.2pre10) but without any changes.
I have tried that on Fedora Core 2 with libtiff-3.5.7-16.1 and
libtiff-devel-3.5.7-16.1. Everything compiles smoothly, but when I try

libtiff 3.6.1 and Asterisk spandsp
Per: http://soft-switch.org/spandsp_faq/ar01s07.html
FAXing with spandsp keeps giving me core dumps. Its crap, isn't it?
Actually the crap in this case is probably libtiff. Versions 3.5.7
and 3.6.0 seem reliable. The FAX image handling in version 3.6.1 is
broken. All the core dump problems I have investigated turned out to
be due to a very old version of libtiff, or version 3.6.1.

Clipping on outbound calls via SIP/IAX
I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I've been having for a while
now. I've googled and wiki'd to no avail.
Whenever I place an outbound call from * to a PSTN through a SIP or IAX
provider (e.g. Voicepulse or Broadvoice), the first 1/2 to 2 seconds of the
remote call are clipped (muted). For example, if I call a remote voicemail
system that usually answers with

Best phone for easy provisioning
Does anyone have any recommendations for a phone that has easy to
understand/implement central provisioning? I've used CISCO 79XX phones,
and they're great (but too expensive). I like Grandstream phones, but
their provisioning sucks.
What is everybody else using in large environments where individual
config is not an option?

spandsp and app_txfax
Hi all,
Ok, I've been bashing my head for a few hours now on this, trying to
figure out if I've
done something wrong, but everything seems to me hunky-dory. So here's the
deal:
1. I've compiled the spandsp 0.0.2pre10 source code successfully and also
the asterisk
application associated with it.
2. Receiving a fax at asterisk works fine, at least appears to be working
