Problems with Simpletelecom and *
Anyone using Simpletelecom with *? I had a nice working system with them, my credit can out so I apply another $5 to
continue testing. Since then nothing has worked. I always get:

VoIP bad voice quality
Hi,
We have Asterisk, running on a P4 box running Suse 9.1, making
calls using IAX through SimpleTelecom and Nufone. What we are looking
for is toll quality voice.
The problem is that voice over calls routed through SimpleTelecom
and nNufone occassionally breaks. We also have a digium card and the
calls over the digium card using the Zaptel Interface have a very good
quality.

Cisco ATA and a PayPhone
I have an interesting problem. I am attempting to install a payphone
utilizing a Cisco ATA-188. The payphone actually works, but there are
some timing issues. What happens is you pick up the payphone and the
ATA grabs a line and goes offhook. While you monkey with putting money
in and dialing the number, you are eating up the time before you get the
offhook reorder tones (or howler tones

SIP client cannot connect to Asterisk
Hi:
We have got SIP clients connecting to our Asterisk fine with a DSL
connection behind router (NAT), but when we bring the Sipura 2000 ATA
to a Rogers Cable connection behind a Netgear router (NAT), the SIP
clients aren't able to reach the Asterisk at all.
We enabled the SIP debug in Asterisk, and it doesn't see any request
coming from these SIP clients, and we also tried the to use a

choppy and cracking sound from zyxel prestige 2002
Hi,
Does anyone have suggestions hooking Zyxel Prestige 2002 to Asterisk?
I have tested Zyxel Prestige with both supported codecs.
Call with G.711 sounds very choppy and cracking. Almost can't understand
a word.
Today I installed G.729 support into Asterisk but unbearable voice
quality remains. It's a little bit better though.
I have tested that Zyxel ATA with some commercial SIP

sip disconnects
I'm trying to figure out if this is a nat problem.
I have a private network behind a freebsd nat box. The * server is on
a static nat, with a private ip of 10.139.10.165. I'm connecting with
sjphone as the client from 10.139.10.159.
I am calling out using simpletelecom. When connecting directly to
simpletelecom using sjphone everything works fine. When I go through

Boonex Dolphin PHP script is SCAM! Beware!
Boonex is a scam. I had to purchase their "Advanced" membership first to be able to contact anyone to ask questions or get help. Then after purchasing a license for $39 I posted on their forums and was dog piled by their staff and premium members who have been around so long they forgot how to be polite.
I never got the software working because most hosts have restrictions for the .EXE

SIP behavior between different providers
I spent the better part of the day trying to figure out why my SIP
calls going through * were just going dead after 20 seconds. I was
sure it was a nat issue but now I'm not so sure anymore.
I have * on a public ip and clients behind a nat. I was using
simpletelecom to terminate my calls. I could connect fine if I went
direct from client -> simpletelecom. If I used * as a proxy the

Be aware of callcheap.com and Mike Low - It is scam
Hi everybody,
Recently I was ripped off by this company named Callcheap Networks Inc, and
so did one of the carriers I recommended to them. Now I am perusing legal
action against them, a mess in which I never wanted to get into. Based on my
bad experience, I wanted to let everybody know if this guy named Mike Low
from Call Cheap Networks Inc. (callcheap.com) contacts you, please be
careful. If

"Enterprise Class Hard Drive" - Scam Warning
Hi All,
I know many of us here manage RAID on our Centos based servers so this may
be of interest to us all.
I ordered three new "Enterprise hard drives" this month from a well known
UK online retailer. The drives arrived as new in their anti-static
packaging. Before using one of the drives in a mission critical hardware
raid I checked the SMART attributes and was amazed at what I
