toll-free anonymous
Hi, I'm Andrew. (Hi Andrew) I'm a toll-free number junkie. I've had an account with iax.cc/sixtel for about a week, and every few days, I find myself sitting at the DID menu clicking the link that reads "Click here to get a random toll free number". I have three toll-free numbers now, and I don't know if it will stop... Is there any hope for me? -- Andrew

Realtime IAX
I am using Asterisk CVS from last week and have been using Realtime SIP for a couple weeks now without any problems. Yesterday I decided to turn on Realtime IAX but I am having problems dialing to my long distance providers like Voicepulse, Sixtel or Nufone. I get the following: -- Executing Dial("SIP/2001-3761", "IAX2/password@voicepulse/19566680301") in new stack

OT: iax.cc/sixTel local DID question
When you choose to add an unlimited local DID to your account from their control panel, do you get to pick the prefix/NXX, or just the area code? Their isn't any indication of whether or not clicking the Add button will immediately add a number to my account or take me to another screen to pick a NXX. (I don't want to click the 910 area code to find out they giving me a Wilmington or

Call forwarding of IAX inbound call
I am trying to do the following: 1. Call comes in to my * box over IAX (VP Connect DID) 2. Check to see if call should be forwarded to my cell 3. Forward the call to my cell phone and take * out of the media path. I am able to do all of the above except * is not able to natively bridge the call. I am using sixtel and for the call forward portion, but the calls don't connect before sixtel

Sixtel.net / IAX.CC - Vanity Toll-Free Number
How long does it take to get a vanity number? I signed up for an account, pre-paid some money, and then placed a vanity number order. I did all of that around Dec. 31st 2004. They said it would take 2-10 business days. It is now Feb. 15th and still no vanity number. I've called them about a dozen times and every time they tell me to keep calling the number to check it and just wait. I'm

Sipura 2100 and Asterisk and Fax
I've just made an interesting observation that I'd like to share with you all: the popular Sipura SPA-2100 just doesn't seem to be as great as I'd hoped. I've been trying to get inbound AND outbound faxing working via Asterisk and at least one of my termination services: Voicepulse or Sixtel. In general, inbound has been working flawlessly but outbound has been pretty

Can someone tell me why I'm getting these? (mailing list probe message)
Twice in the last week or so, I've received a message similar to the attached. A portion of the attachment that's attached is not in English. Is this my mail server failing, or someones who's on the list? -- Andrew Thompson http://aktzero.com/ http://dev.asteriskdocs.org/ -------------- next part -------------- An embedded message was scrubbed... breaking friends into users & peers
I am about to start a program that will be generaging sip device configurations for sip.conf. My current sip.conf contains friend entries for each SIP device connected to asterisk. Should I even be attempting to split these in to seperate user/peer devices? Is there(should there be) a convention for referring to the two distinct modes of a device? Can two entries with the same name exist at

VoicePulse Connect 4 Channel Limit?
Does anyone know what happens if you try to have 5 concurrent outgoing channels with VoicePulse Connect? Does it give you an error message or a reorder or something? I'm worried about using them as my primary carrier if this is the case. I noticed that they supposedly only allow 4 channels for free and then you have to pay $20 a month extra per channel. I'm guessing this is for inbound

Asterisk@Home and iax.cc / sixTel
Hi, How is iax.cc / sixTel to be configured as a termination provider in asterisk@home? The iax.cc / sixTel instructions tell you to do this: iax.conf: ------------ [sixTel] type = friend host = iax2.sixtel.net context = inbound secret = mypassword allow = all extensions.conf: -------------------------------- exten =>

srv records not being honoured properly
Given the following SRV records: _sip._udp.tollfree.sip-happens.com. 38400 IN SRV 10 0 5060 sometimes.sip-happens.com. _sip._udp.tollfree.sip-happens.com. 38400 IN SRV 20 0 5070 ares.sip-happens.com. Why is asterisk (1.4.17) not honouring the priority and not failing over to using other records when a connection fails? For a given call to tollfree.sip-happens.com ares.sip-happens.com was chosen

re: Sixtel Services
I'm using SixTel as a test (Opened account w/ $10) and am happy with them so far... In their basic service package, they don't charge a monthly fee, and it's outbound only, and you get charged for every minute. I paid for a DID, which is $1.50 or so per month, and it lets me receive inbound calls, which I also pay for by the minute.. I don't mind this for a service like this

IAX2 trunking, Voicepulse Connect, and Outbound Faxing
I've just stumbled across a rather weird problem and was wondering if someone could shed some light on the situation. In testing faxing through Asterisk using Voicepulse Connect for trunking I am able to receive faxes without a hitch. Quite impressive considering previous experience with certain other VOIP providers. Today I finally got around to testing outbound faxing and found that if

Setting up Security Groups
I appologize for the long, new-ish question, but after a few days of trying to work a solution by reading through the list archives and WIKI and coming up with what I thought would work, I think I'm just not getting a fine detail. I titled this thread "Setting up Security Groups" because I'm trying to set up some sip user groups with certain calling rights, e.g., one group of
