Several people on this mailing list have the W32/Swen@MM virus
Ever since I signed up for this mailing list and sent my first question, I have been bombarded with the W32/Swen@MM and the emails aren't all from the same person. Is anyone else experiencing this? Rob

pam + privileges
Hi, Apologies if my attempts to subscribe bombarded this list with empty emails. We're running openssh 3.6.1p1 on Linux i386 and need to chroot and modify people's capabilities (Linux specific) when they log in. To do this we've compiled openssh with pam support and then configured pam to chroot people and alter their capabilities (such as giving them the privilege to bind to a port

Mongrel, sit!, good god! -- said Rails core.
Oh well, needed a good subject, sounds funny enough? http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/5475 Add "automatic" mongrel support to script/server Status: closed, commited in rev #4486. Damn!
I just tried rc4-cvs and I can't believe how good it sounds! I can hear very little difference between the wav and the q0-ogg on my above-average stereo... It really makes MP3 look (sound) *pathetic* in comparision! I did some comparisions on a few songs, from noisy 77-punk to Jean-Michel Jarre to EBM/Industrial, and q0/~64kbit RC4-vorbis sounds as good or better than V9/~128kbit LAME-mp3

Damn itcl to hell.
Hi, Sorry to bug people with this what must be a very trivial question. I've got a Mandrake 8.0 installation and have been trying in vain to get CodeWeavers Wine (preview #3) installed. I've downloaded and installed the 'blessed' version of itcl from the CodeWeaver's website (itcl-8.3.2-7mdk.i586.rpm) and am still getting the itcl not found error when I try to run winesetup.

Request for advice on character set conversions (those damn Excel files, again ...)
Dear list, I have to read a not-so-small bunch of not-so-small Excel files, which seem to have traversed Window 3.1, Windows95 and Windows NT versions of the thing (with maybe a Mac or two thrown in for good measure...). The problem is that 1) I need to read strings, and 2) those strings may have various encodings. In the same sheet of the same file, some cells may be latin1, some

Installing Damn Small Linux and R
Installing Damn Small Linux and R Following my experiences with Knoppix (described in another mail) I did similar test on Damn Small Linux (dsl -http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ ). DSL was interesting, because it is the smallest yet fully functional version of Linux, hence more suited to older and smaller computers than Knoppix. Importantly, it uses lightweight windowing system (no KDE or GNOME) so

Has anyone ever heard of this before? It use to happen once in a while, today it's been happening a LOT and it's driving me batty.. -- Start Your Own ISP! http://www.YourOwnISP.com

Replication not happening on 2.2
Hello, first - thanks for the help in getting dovecot 2.2 compiled and installed on Debian. I have Dovecot 2.2 running now on two servers, and to test replication, I am polling mail on one server whilst the other creates mail regularly from crontab output. I have replication set up, but nothing at all is appearing on the other server, and I do not have any dsync / doveadm messages in

Replication only sporadic
Hello dear Dovecot Gurus, I am setting up two servers with Dovecot replication as hot-standby servers for a small high availability cluster, switch-over through DNS-redirect. For testing purposes, both servers are generating a small test mail every few minutes and delivering to the local dovecot each. In my mail client, I added both servers through IMAP to watch how the replication is

Upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 on Debian
Hello, I am currently running Dovecot 2.1 on current Debian and need to upgrade to 2.2 to use the replication features. I understand that I therefore need to compile Dovecot myself. I am using a MySQL database for users authentication, therefore I need to compile Dovecot with mysql support: *./configure --with-mysql* Unfortunately this terminates with: *configure: error: Can't build with

Lots of console; attach and grep?
We have recently started routing about 3 PRI's worth of traffic thru our asterisk box. The text on the console now flys by so damn fast, I can't really see what the heck is going on. Even with verbosity 0 and debug 0 it is still so fast. Is there some way I can attach to the console in a way that will allow me to grep or otherwise filter the text so I can focus on something in

Dovecot replication - I'm stuck
Hi, I've been following the wiki document at http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Replication, but I've become stuck. I'm running version 2.1.3 on NetBSD 5.2 (v2.2+ isn't available as a package yet, and compiling my own is well outside my wheelhouse). I have a couple of questions: The wiki page keeps referring to "vmail". Is this a just system user I need to create? Presumably

interrupt loading, intrd, and CMT
One of the things that I''ve been asked to look at lately is interrupt load spreading, and intrd, to improve the network performance of CMT systems. From my read of the code, it looks like intrd only knows about virtual processors. This has major breakage in that all the virtual processors on a single core in a Niagra system share the common interrupt logic. I.e. when the

being bombarded with SIP packets
Over the last two weeks, we have had at least two "incidents" where our asterisk server got flooded (a hundred or more per second) by SIP packets. Once from 114.31.50.10, second time from 173.212.200.146. We became aware of the problem when bandwidth started suffering because asterisk got very busy sending back replies or rejects (dunno which, I didn't investigate it any further).

Thanks, got replys
I've got a mix of some receive only, some send only. I tried to slam together two different configs really fast. This helped. I'll look things over and post some configs after a bit. Thanks again! Chris Bennett
