Send flash through zap channel
Hi everyone,
our setup includes a NEC PBX connected to our asterisk via bri lines.
The NEC has a doorphone feature, which is just an extension that calls you when someone rings. When connected to this extensions, a 'flash' signalling opens the door.
So now, i'd like to trigger this from asterisk, too, but unfortunately wasn't able to do so.

ISDN X-Over
Hi all,
I have just been reading an article on the asterisk-doc site about ISDN
X-Over cables.
The article mentioned the converting of an NT1 to make this possible, has
anybody got the information required to modify a BT NT1?
Or any information on the BT NT1.
Thanks in advance.

SMS - how to send one
I've read quite a bit in the older mailing list posts and the wiki but
I'm missing some simple point.
1) What is required to send an SMS to a mobile outside the office given:
Channel: ZAP/1
send it to $SMS_RECIPIENT (which includes the final "extra" digit)
via
$SMS_CENTER=the national message center server for sending messages
$MESSAGE= the message text
How is the .call file

[Softphones] ZoIPer vs. XLite?
Hello
I need to hook up someone's remote PC onto our Asterisk server over
the Net. There are firewalls on each side, so I figured it's time to
give IAX a try, and see if it's less of a pain to use than SIP. And
since IAX hardphones are pretty are, I guess I'll go softphone.
Apparently, the two most well-known IAX and SIP clients for Windows
are ZoIPer and X-Lite, respectively.

There are big differences. As I know of no other PBX that uses 'consumer' hardware, asterisk is also struggling with problems in the underlying Hardware. And

MWI with IAX
Does the MWI feature work with IAX2? I have read where it should but
cannot get the indicator to work on any of the IAX softphones that I
have tried which have this feature. I even did an IAX debug and did not
see where and indication was sent to the phone when it registered.

best protocol/codec for dialup
What would be a good combination to use on dialup connections? I know
iax is better than SIP, but I dont' know much of anything about the
various codecs. Also, how well would an iax or sip solution work
compared to skype as far as voice quality?
If it helps, here is what I'm trying to do. We know about 30
different families in one area in Russia that have relatives here in
the US.

Working SIP phone for linux and windows
Hello
I have yet to discover a software package that would both register and
have ulaw codec. The SIP communicator (Java) came closest to usable,
but didn't have the ulaw codec working. What do you use for
communications?

[LLVMdev] datapoint for recent llvm-gcc4 build failures
I routinely fetch the latest LLVM and LLVM-GCC4 and recompile, perhaps every few days or so. I've not had success in some cases building LLVM-GCC4 on a Gentoo Linux host, for perhaps the last week or so. My system compiler is GCC 4.1.1.

You didn't mention the number of lines your PBX uses, but think of a third scenario:
Install an asterisk with twice the number of BRI/PRI-Ports your current PBX has.
Connect half of them to your carrier, the other ones to your old PBX (Some sort

OpenBSD TFTPD remap rules
Hi!
I am using OpenBSD 4.4 with the build-in TFTP-Daemon for PXE.
Distributing OpenBSD works fine.
Now I want to distribute OpenBSD and WinPE. I've installed
PXELinux 3.72 and configured it. Works also fine for PXELinux and
distributing OpenBSD.
To distribute WinPE I need a remap rule (\ -> /) for the TFTP-Daemon.
I've created a file /etc/tftpd.remap with the following rule:

FW: Getting PHP Config to work?
Hi,
I have been doing various testing with asterisk and its been going great.
However I am a bit feedup of using vi for editing configs, and would rather
do it from any machine on my LAN. I am running debian and * via xorcom rapid
on a test PC at the minute.
Hence phpconfig would be great, however I am having difficulty getting it to
work. I have searched the message boards and the wiki, and
