Howto Setup TFTP server on Linux for Cisco 7 960
Thanks But how about the config files (SIP...) that needs to be inside the tftp server, where can I get a sample of that? That's where the images for the firmwares of the ip phones come from, on boot right? -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Alen Salamun Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2005 5:47

Cisco 7960 tftp question
Hello, and thank you for your time answering my question. I have a Cisco 7960 running SIP firmware POS3-06-X-XX. If I want to upload SIP configurations via *.cnf file from my tftp server, do I need to include the OS79XX.TXT and P0S3-06-X-XX.bin to the tftp server root directory to be uploaded every time the phone reboots? Thanks again for your help. Oliver

Has anyone connected to 7960 with console cablefor setup?
The 'console' port or RS232 port is used to connect the 7914 sidecar, which does not work with the SIP firmware. 7960 Cisco SIP Phone TFTP Files
Hi all (is a bit of a Cisco question, but perhaps it's already been asked here). I'm trying to setup a TFTP server for dynamic configuration of my 7960 Cisco phones. Cisco docs suggest I download the following files from their web site: * OS79XX.TXT * SIPDefaultGeneric.cnf * SIPConfigGeneric.cnf * RINGLIST.DAT * P0S3xxyy.bin * P0S3-xx-y-zz.bin * dialplan.xml * syncinfo.xml I only

New C7960 won't tftp?
Just received a new Cisco 7960 (not refurb, but brand new) and it won't tftp the initial config file (OS79XX.TXT) from an FC3 box. The 7960 does get an appropriate dhcp response including the tftp address. Using a sniffer, I see the tftp request being sent from the 7960 to the FC3 box, but the FC3 box responds with error code 4 (Illegal TFTP opertion) and an error message of "Request not

Has anyone connected to 7960 with console cable for setup?
I have a Cisco 7960 phone. I cannot seem to use the settings button to get into the phone to change the TFTP server. I've set up a DHCP Server, TFTP Server with the same address, and the phone requests the address of 0.0.0.0, the server offers the address of 192.168.2.2, but the phone seems not to take it. I have no action on the TFTP side. So, since I can't seem to server the phone

Cisco 7960 phones.
I have found a phone that I wish I had not! This is by far the worst phone to setup. I have finally upgraded it to Sip but once this got done it I am not able to get it unlocked so I can enter the rest of the settings. So if anyone out there can tell me how to setup my DNS server to tell it where the tftp is located (Windows 2000 DNS server) or please let me have the default password. I called

7960 TFTP
Are there any known issues with Cisco 7960s and any particular TFTP daemons? I cannot seem to get mine to speak to a Linux box, but Solarwinds under Windows works like a charm. tftp-hpa 5.2 testing & checking the setup
I had this problem fixed by setting the ownership of the root tftp directory, "must be set to nobody as this is the default user ID setup by tftpd" as specified in this tutorial http://blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=setting_up_a_tftp_server However, I do not know if the ownership set to nobody is essential with Fedora because SELinux requires it or if it is a general good practice for

Cisco 7960 tftp "not null terminated"
Has anyone seen this problem: I recently purchased new 7960g's with sccp firmware on it. When I try to upgrade the firmware to SIP the phones seem to be making malformed tftp requests. The logs shows: sending NAK (4, Request not null-terminated) to 192.168.0.55 Thanks in advance, Josh Laroff

RE: Cisco 7960 upgrade to SIP
I recently upgraded a Cisco 7960 to the SIP firmware, it worked fine without a "call-manager". I just put the SIP firmware and associated config files in the TFTP directory of my asterisk server so that the phone could pull the firmware off of my asterisk server via TFTP. It took me about 5 minutes maximum to get the phone working with SIP through asterisk. NO Call-manager was used in

TFTP Secondary Ports
I'm publishing tftp through my firewall to support external Cisco 7960 sip phones. I know that the primary port is 69 for tftp. However, tftp also uses secondary ports ranging from 1,0XX to 30,XXX. ( A broad range) In an effort to limit the secondary ports that are opened, some Windows based tftp server such as the winagents product allows you to limit the range of secondary ports that are

Polycom or Linksys phones bootp tftp config setup
Hi All, Has anyone gotten the polycoms or the linksys phones to accept oprtion 66 on the dhcp request for the address of the tftp config server? We have the dhcp server issuing the proper IP of the tftp server, but the phones just sit there and never try to contact the tftp server for their configs. We can see the proper option going from the dhcp to the phones with ethereal trace. Thanks JR
