WiFi phones and WDS (Wireless Distribution System)
I'm about to start working with WiFi phones on my Asterisk
installations.
Can anyone tell me if they are using WiFi phones on wireless network
that is extended with WDS and how well the phone handles jumping from
access point to access point while on a call?
Do any WiFi phones support WPA encryption or are they all still under
the impression they are only being used on public hot spots?

Looking for a wireless phone... wifi ortraditional wireless ?
In that example you could make outgoing calls only correct? (since incoming
likely needs port forwards)
I guess the questions becomes "how often are you going to do that to justify
the extra $100 or so you going to pay for a wifi sip phone?"

Re: Looking for a wireless phone...
Paul-
I have a ZyXel Prestige 2000W. It seemed to be junk at first,
(not saving settings, flaky network connectivity, etc.)
But upgrading it to the latest firmware seemed to fix the issues.
The only complaint I have with it currently is weak encryption. (64 or
128-bit WEP)
YMMV.

wireless VOIP phone recommendations?
I have been using the D-Link DPH-540 wireless VOIP handset, and I really
like this phone. We had tried the UStarcomm phone, but the phone is used in
a noisy environment and the volume wasn't loud enough. The "problem" with
the D-Link phone is the Li-ion battery needs to be replaced and D-Link
doesn't sell a replacement battery and I haven't found any after-market
batteries.

wireless card for CentOS
Hi,
I'll need to buy a new wireless card. I need a recommendation for
PCMCIA wireless card that simply works with CentOS out of the box.
By "works out of the box", I mean that it doesn't need ndis wrapper
(or whatever it is called), kernel hacks, or whatever.
Thanks

Zyxel Prestige 2000W Firmware - EVIL
If you see a wj0011 version of firmware for Zyxel Prestige 2000W floating around
(I found it in a German forum), KEEP AWAY.
It completely trashed the wireless networking in my phone.

IPX works via wired network, not via wireless
Hi All,
I have installed Atomic Bomberman as described here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Atomic_bomberman
When I connect 2 PC's running linux via networkcables and a switch, IPX works perfectly. I start the game on both PC's, set PC A to "Start Network game" via IPX, and PC B to "Join network game". Now PC B can see the game of PC A, connect to it, and then

wired network switch to wireless if not active
All,
I am wondering how one PC with a wired and wireless connection
can have the wired IP active as long as there is a connection then if the
wired connection goes away to then automatically, go wireless, then
if wired comes back alive go back to wired.
Is that kind of setup possible, if so how.
This unit is always on - I just want whichever network is active and
faster to be the active

Bonding wired and wireless ifaces
Hello all,
I'm wondering if there's any interest in trying to bond em1 and eth0
(respectively wired and wireless interfaces here), and if any, how to
do it in CentOS6.
I've found this, which could possibly help (but I'm failing yet):

Both are dealing w/ ifenslave.

ZyXEL Prestige 200w - should I return it ?
Hi all
I have just got a P2000w and experience several problems. Hopefully there is
someone out there that has got it working. I saw it on Cebit and the person
demonstrating it there told me that it was connected to an Asterisk server
on the stand -so it should work.
Problem 1: it does not register correctly
It get lots of messages like this:

[Bridge] Bridging a wireless/wired LAN and a PPPoE connection
Hi all,
I'm trying out bridging for my wireless and wired LAN, so that they can
both use my PPPoE connection. Here's the network structure, pretty easy:

(mtu 1500) (mtu 1500)

internet wireless network requirements
I currently am using CentOS 4.4 desktop computer. What would I need to recieve an internet signal from a wireless router that is connected to an Apple computer that is located upstairs? I am in the basement less than 150 feet from the Apple computer. I do not have wireless card in the CentOS desktop computer and am looking for a card to install to accomplish this.

hi folks
well, tinc is a really nice tool and we implemented it on 3 linux servers
and 2 mobile clients (XP notebooks) so far.
one of the 3 tinc servers is making troubles, when a connection is initiated
from
this server over a zyxel 642 adsl router out to the other 2 servers in the
internet. the logfiles of the other 2 servers shows:

Cannot Authenticate to Samba Shares after switching laptop from wired to wireless nic.
I have a laptop that I need to be able to connect to my samba shares with
its wired connection and its wireless connection. It works fine when
connecting from the wired ethernet connection but it stops working once I
disable the wired connection and connect to the wireless network (both
networks are on the same subnet). The IP address for the wired connection is
