MPPE required, but kernel has no support.
Ok, on to new swamps. I would like to enable PPTP on CentOS4 to accept connections from clients running MicroSoft Win2K and XP pro from outside our firewall. I am testing pptpd-1.2.3-0 and tells me that I need kernel support for MPPE, which I suppose is MicroSoft's own form of PtoP encryption. Is there a way of doing this without rebuilding the kernel? If so, how? Regards, Jim --

pptp vpn through CentOS 4.3.
Hello, We can't connect to our pptp server through our CentOS gateway with a XP client. The linux client is working but not the XP client. I know for a fact that the pptp server is not the problem because if I connect the XP machine directly to the Internet the pptp vpn is working. I know about the pptp-conntrack-nat patch, I compiled the 2.4.9 kernel, with patch-o-matic-ng-20060511.tar.bz2

Updated Kernel sensors modules
Last week I upgraded my box to CentOS 6 and I'm very impressed so far with it. The only small issue so far is that it doesn't seem to recognize the new Sandy Bridge Core i5 CPU that I have and you can't monitor its temperature. I recompiled the latest coretemp module from the latest 2.6.39 kernel and the latest lm_sensors version however this still wasn't enough as the new module

XAPI on debian installation issue
Hi, I''m currently trying to install xapi on debian (unstable), following the following wiki page: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XAPI_on_debian 1. Install squeeze 32-bits (it''s not specified on the wiki, but I guess it wont work with 64-bit as the xapi *.deb files are for 32). note: you must leave an unused 1mb partition somewhere when creating your

load balancing and DNAT
Does anyone know if load balancing and DNAT work well together? I know that load balancing and NAT do not, but what about a simple port forward? I can''t apply Julian Anastasov''s patches, because they don''t work with PPTP patches. :/ Anyhow, a simple: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp --dport xxx -j DNAT --to yyy:xxx iptables -I FORWARD -i eth0 -d yyy -p

Building btrfs as a dkms module on Debian
Hi everyone. I was trying to test a more recent version of btrfs on my current kernel (2.6.37) using dkms, without success. I followed these instructions: https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Btrfs_source_repositories - cloned the repo - symlinked to /usr/src/btrfs-git - patched version.sh: Please note version.sh requires bash (better to change the shebang or fix the script). Even with the

pptpclient and dependencies
I'm going thru the documentation for pptpclient located on the pptpclient.sourceforge.net site and am referencing the Fedora Core 3 how-to. The docs refer to installing libglade and libxml and when I do so with a "yum install libglade libxml" no packages are found for installation. In looking at the installed packages I find libxml2. Is libxml2 adequate for libxml or would it be

Help with C7 start script
Under the old C6 I put an entry in rc.local to run my programs I want. We will call it /path/boot.sh Worked fine. Under C7 I have created a new service file for systemd. It looks like: --------------- [Unit] Description=Company After=network.target [Service] Type=forking ExecStart=/path/boot.sh [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target ----------- For the most part this works every time on boot.

what requires lm_sensors?
I found that lm_sensors got installed because of a dependency on my first Xen VM that I updated to 5.3. lm_sensors doesn't make sense in a VM. I thought, ok let's check after the update who wants it. However: rpm -q --whatrequires lm_sensors no package requires lm_sensors (same for --triggeredby with lm_sensors or the packages below) Trying to remove lm_sensors reveals these packages:

Upgrading I2C Modules
Does anyone know how to upgrade the I2C modules *without* compiling the current kernel source? I have a system that apparently needs the current set of I2C modules to work with lm_sensors. If I compile the current kernel source, the proper readings show up. However, with the stock 2.6.9-42.0.2 kernel, one sensor chip isn't seen. Trying to compile the I2C source yields a "Use the
