Alternatives to Digium 729
Per my conversation below with digium, are there any legal alternatives to digium's G729? It is out of date, and doesn't support VAD nor silence detection. Digium has stated that they have no plans to update it anytime soon. VAD/Silence is a big deal with major carriers and we are having to fight a battle to get them to make special arrangements to turn off VAD/Silence in their

outlook express intregation
All of the stuff I've googled for and read on wiki all relate to "Outlook". Has anyone been successful in getting "Outlook Express" to do click to dial? -Matthew -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Matthew Boehm, IT Director Cypress Telecommunications mboehm@cytelcom.com 3838 N. Asterisk's MultiProcessor Ability
We have asterisk running on a quad processor dell. The kernel has been compiled with SMP. However, asterisk seems to only use 1 processor. 3 of the 4 always stay at 100% idle. Is it pointless to have a multi-proc machine? I was going to buy a new dual 3.6Ghz Xeon server but if nothing will take advantage of the other proc... Perhaps my conception of multi-proc/threaded is warped. If asterisk is

Asterisk Crashing; Not getting Core dumps
This is frustrating. Asterisk has crashed now twice today and neither crash has produced a core file. My ulimit is unlimited. I'm using safe_asterisk so asterisk is restarting immediatly, but how the hell am I suposed to find out wtf happened with no core file? Debug log doesn't say anything either. AGRHHHHHHHH -Matthew --

Built-In Transfer Questions
I've read the Wiki on using asterisk's built-in transfer options (#8 and #6). They work fine but how does one cancle an attended transfer? Example: I have person on phone, I hit #6 to being att-transfer. I enter Sally's extension. I let it ring for a few seconds. Sally never picks up but her voicemail does. How do I hangup her voicemail and resume the previous call? The example on the

T100P HDLC configuration
All, I am trying to configure hdlc support on T100P Digium card - everything seems ok... but it just does not work at all. I was able to compile all drivers, the light on the card becomes green when I plug T1 link.... but I even can't ping default router IP... there is no data coming back to me, so I am confused completely now. Also I tried both protocols - raw hdlc and cisco hdlc. The

OT: Linux routing with T100P problems
Hey gang, I was successful in recompiling my 2.4.20 kernel to support HDLC. I was successful in hooking up our T1 line into the zap card. I was successful in being able to ping equipment on the other end of the T1. I was unsuccessful in pinging the outside world from the other end of the T1. I've attached a cheezy image of the network. Here is the routing table: [root@asterisk root]# route

T100P -- data?
Hi, all. I'm thinking of provisioning my (non-PRI) T1 to be part data, part voice (currently, it's only voice). With the T100P, how do I get it to "do" data? Just load up the HDLC module, and it gets an IP address? Or...? I tried RTFM'ing, but there just doesn't seem to be much on it (leastwise, that's readily findable). Thanks much, Ken D'Ambrosio

Realtime mysql problem?
All, I get this whenever trying to dial to a peer when the peer registered to another server. I'm basically trying to use realtime to check for the peer and dial it. Digium T100P T1 Card
Hello All, I could use a recommendation if anyone has a moment. I have the T100P but I have not gotten my service yet. I want to have at least 12 lines of digital voice with DID. Should I just seek out a PRI ISDN provider or is there something else I should look for? I want to keep cost as low as possible. Also, I want to own my own router for the phones since it is always a hassle to get

T100P Configuration for Mixed Voice & Data
I need to know how to setup the data side of the T1 on my Linux Box. I have found information about configuring a PRI and HDLC but nothing about the Frame-Relay type setup for data. The following is information from our T1 provider. Network T1: Framing = ESF Line code = B8ZS Build out = 0-133ft(DSX)/0dB(CSU) Clock = network Pulse-density-enforce = off alarm-option = on alarm-delay = 15

Problem with T100P card in a new chassis
Due to some failed hardware on another platform, I've had to move a T100P card to a different chassis. After this move was completed, I am seeing some strange results on the T100P card that do not display to me any failure mode with which I am familiar. The card comes up, and shows "good" carrier and status, but Asterisk refuses to bring the D-channel up. Calls of course do

Properly setup SRV?
Hey gang, I'm trying to setup the ability to dial a SIP user via their email address. I'm using SJPhone as my tester UA, but most clients will be using XTen Pro. I added an SRV DNS entry into our zone, and it returns: ; <<>> DiG 9.2.1 <<>> SRV _sip._udp.cytelcom.com ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status:

1 extension entry for multiple purposes?
Hey gang, There must be any easy solution for this but my mind is frazzled on compiling 2.4 with RTC as module. Bleh. Currently extension 9000 is our VoicemailMain(@company) line. Some employee's are complaining that the old system was better because you didn't have to enter your mailbox number and that instead the old system took you right to it. I figured there was something similar

Cisco 79XX and VLANS
Hey gang, We have about 30 Cisco 79XX phones all running latest 7.5 SIP. We are also using all Cisco Switches and Routers. Everything works great except that when you reboot a phone it takes like 3-5 minutes for it to come up. The phones spend tons of time 'Configuring VLAN..' We don't run any VLANs. Is there some way to skip this? In the 'Network Settings' I have

QOS Device?
Here is the situation: A T1 router going into an office which then plugs into the firewall box then into the switch. None of these devices support QOS.. Is there some sort of box/device that I can place between the T1 router and the firewall box which will allow me to prioritize voice traffic on this link? I can't change the T1 router to something that supports QOS because it has

Red Alarm / Alarm Cleared Zaptel Issue (bug? )
Check with your telco. We had the same problem on 1 of our PRI's, every day at 5:00 sharp, red alarm, with all calls cut off for 30 seconds exactly. Turns out the equipment at the CO was going into a test loop at that time because of a forgotten setting by a tech. Man, what a finger pointing exercise that was. -----Original Message----- From: Matthew Boehm [mailto:mboehm@cytelcom.com] Sent:
