Installing CentOS on RAID PATA not SATA - A8V
I'm trying to install CentOS 4 on an A8V on the PATA/Raid drives on the Promise controller. The Promise controller is recognized (sata_promise), but the PATA drives are not recognized. Base on this thread https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=147303 it seems that there is a patch which was merged in 2.6.11 to get pata working. Any ideas how to proceed? Thanks in advance

Promise FastTrak series
Hello, In some weeks I'm going to reinstall some old RedHat9 based servers with Promise FastTrak TX2000 "semi-hardware" RAID1 controllers. I just tried to install CentOS 4.0 on a computer with a spare card and as usual both HDD attached to the RAID1 controller are seen separately by the installer because the specific driver for the TX2000 wasn't loaded. Nothing new here, it

Intel Matrix SATA RAID drivers
Hello CentOS, Does anyone know if there's a driver out there that'll enable CentOS 4.x to use the Intel Matrix SATA RAID settings on the 915 chipsets? -- Best regards, Mickael mailto:mike at kamloopsbc.com www.MickaelMaddison.com

Hardware RAID Controller
Hi Everyone, Has anyone had any experience of using the Promise FastTrak SX4000 or SuperTrak SX6000 IDE RAID Controllers under Centos (if it matters I'm using version 4). I've seen it listed on linuxcompatible.org as working but would prefer to find out any first-hand experince before I buy. I'm looking to build a new mini server based on Mini-ITX and have found a great 1U case

Seagate NCQ + Sil3112 (sata_sil)

The hard disk is a Seagate 200GB 8MB SATA150 NCQ drive, on a SilliconImage

Netcell RAID cards
Hi, Anyone tried netcell products on Centos 3 or 4? They claim driverless operation under WinXP, but in linux the only doc that is related with CentOS would be the Fedora core 2 (http://www.netcell.com/support/Fedora_Core2_readme.txt) and requires a kernel rebuild. I'd like to know if it would be possible to install CentOS directly on drives on such a card, without needing a build

RAID 5 vs. RAID 10
Hi, I am looking into purchasing a new server. This server will be mission-critical. I have read and somewhat understood the theories behind RAIDs 0, 1, 5, 10 & JBOD. However, I would like to get some feedback from those who have experience in implementing and recovering from a HDD failure using RAID. Hardware specs include:- Dual Xeon 3.2 GHz 2 GB RAM I would like to implement

Anybody using NetCell raid controller on CentOS 4?
Is anybody using NetCell raid controllers on CentOS 4? The pricing is pretty nice on these, I know they support only raid-3, but for a home mythtv box they would seem to be good. Paul

How to map ata#.# numbers to /dev/sd numbers?
On my C5 machine (a Dell XPS420) I have a 500Gb disk on the internal SATA controller. I also have a SiI3132 dual-port multi-device eSATA card. This is connected to an external SATA array of disks. Now occasionally I see something like this in my logs ata7.01: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 a ction 0x0 ata7.01: irq_stat 0x00060002, device error via D 2H FIS ata7.01: cmd

SiI 3114 and RAID
I've two machines with almost identical hardware (slightly different CPUs). The SATA/RAID controller is SiI 3114. Screaming Interrupt error and hang.
One system I have is configured thusly: AMD Duron 1200 (I have frequency restrictions in this application, and must stay below 1.3GHz or must be above 2.0GHz, and the 1200 fits nicely in our interference plan; besides, I was given the chip, and it's fast enough for the application). Soyo DRAGON KT400 motherboard, 512MB DDR RAM (DDR266). Silicon Image SATA interface card. Machine boots

Asterisk Now
I finished to try to install Asterisk Now 1.4.0 on an AMD 3800 dual processor machine. The install lookups on the search for the Sata drive, since however it loads the sata_sil driver it doesn't work. Did someone knows what version of Linux is using on Asterisk Now? Problem getting x86_64 dom0 to boot on a FC4 machine
I''m struggling to get Xen to boot on a FC4 Opteron box. I''ve included the tail of the boot log below [1]. I suspect that the problems relates to the software RAID 1 root and boot partitions, and how it relates to the initrd image. The RAID volumes fail to mount. I compiled the Xen snapshot from the 23rd September, and the only change I''ve made is to enable the

Autodetecing RAID members upon boot... need to update initrd?
Hello fellow CentOS'ers- I've got a system running CentOS 5.0. The motherboard has two onboard SATA ports with two drives attached. I installed the system on a RAID1 setup. However, I'd like to add a hotspare disk to the array. Since there are no additional SATA ports, I've installed an additional controller. After partitioning, the additional drive was easily and successfully

Promise EX16650 under 5.2?
Does anyone have experience using the Supertrak EX16650 sas controller under Centos 5.2? The Promise website claims RHEL 5.2 support was added Sept '08. I figure the card might very well be detected, but how about the management gui - it appears to use some sort of web interface, but the card has no ethernet jack, so it must rely on some special driver to access this? Any information is

pst: timeout mfa=0x00327b90 cmd=WRITE
I installed a Promise SuperTrak SX6000 ATA RAID controller on 4.8-RELEASE. The following message is logged when the device is under load (equivalent of make release): pst: timeout mfa=0x00327b90 cmd=WRITE Should I be concerned? Does the I/O fail and the driver simply not report the failure to the application? -- Scott

SATA - SIL3112A controller
Hi folks, I have just installed a PCI SATA controller based on the SIL3112A chipset into my Centos-3 (latest kernel patches applied) system and moved an existing (not the boot disk) SATA drive from the onboard controller to the SIL-based one so I can setup software RAID with two 300GB drives. Kudzu/Linux found the controller and drives straight away and they've appeared as 'hda' and

Speaking of SATA
Hi, I installed CentOS on a 1U server with a SI SATA Controller According to lspci a CMD Technology Inc Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATARaid Controller (#2) (rev 2) The problem is for some reason the system came up without DMA. Of course this means terrible IO performance. Aside from setting it with hdparm is there a way to have it do this on boot? Is this a known issue? Terrence

Getting SATA Controller working
I have an SIIG SC-SA4011 (V1.0) SATA controller that doesn't appear to come up. The system has CentOS 6.5 installed on it, and everything on it works, except for this one controller - the other SATA controller, a RocketRAID 1640 works fine. lspci lists the offending controller: $> lspci [... snip ...] 04:01.0 Mass storage controller: Silicon Image, Inc.
