Print out data frames into neat images
Hi Group, I often need to print out data frames with results of analysis into a neat little image to copy and paste into documents. I need apply formatting like bold, currency signs, number formats, header shading etc. I currently output the data into csv and format using good old excel. Any suggestions if there are packages to help with such activities (to some level of basic functionality). I

Neat conditional assignment
I would like to make a new vector with values taken from two existing vectors conditional upon a third. At present I am doing this with a for loop but wonder if there is not a neater way, given some of the very neat things R can do. a<-rep(c("A","B"),50) b<-rep(1,100) c<-rep(2,100) a is thus "A" "B" "A" "B" "A"

RE: Question regarding Split Access description (Adam Neat)
IMHO, i believe that it would be more realistic to have one router providing load balancing/dead gateway to one/several subnet(s). otherwise, each server/user would have to do their own load balancing for each subnet! that, or you would need 3 routers, one for each subnet and a linux router doing the load balancing in the middle. with 3 routers, the load balancing configurations

Neat style trick
Not terribly exciting, but I was happy to think of it. I needed a div with a fixed height that could vary depending on page content. So I did this: <div class="listcntnr" style="height: <%= @users.size / 2 * 125%>px"> Whee! --Al Evans -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Showing a neat error message

Is there a neat R trick for this?
Hello all, given two vectors X and Y I'd like to receive a vector Z which contains, for each element of X, the index of the corresponding element in Y (or NA if that element isn't in Y). Example: x <- c(4,5,6) y <- c(10,1,5,12,4,13,14) z <- findIndexIn(x, y) z [1] 5 3 NA 1st element of z is 5, because the 1st element of x is at the 5th position in y 2nd element of z is 3,

Neat way of using R for pivoting?
Hi, I'd like to use R to do what excel pivot tables do, and plot results. I've never used R before, and I've managed to do something, but it's quite a lot of code to do something simple. I can't help but think I'm not "Doing it the R way". I could be using R for the wrong thing, in which case, please tell me off. I was hoping something like plot(by(t,

3rd party app store
I recently came across this email that I wrote in May 2008 ...... ?http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2008-May/210887.html It's such a shame that Digium manhandled the project away from the community only to then bury it and not allow it to proceed. I really wonder when I look at the Apple iphone development community as to where the 3rd party Asterisk development community

Webmail app ... again.
There was a thread several weeks (or months) ago on webmail applications. I didn't like any of the options and only found few that I did but they were either expensive or not maintained. So ... I raised the question on the Catalyst Framework list about Perl based webmail apps and got nothing usable. It came down to what would it take to build a Perl (Cat) webmail app. Several others on

Want to help Wine and prevent regressions in your favorite (downloadable) app?
Howdy all, For Google Summer of Code, I worked on a project I called Appinstall, which is basically an automated test framework for Wine. It works as a simple shell script, that runs several independent tests of applications, then parses the log files to make sure no applications broke, or bugs were fixed. The tests themselves are written using AutoHotKey (http://www.autohotkey.com). The neat

Alec Saunders post about Mashable Telco's
Interesting read in Alec Saunders blog today. http://saunderslog.com/2007/03/01/mashable-telcos/ Thought it may interest some people on this list. As food for thought, why it is that ITSP's haven't come up with more 'interesting' voice applications? When asterisk first became available I thought it was the beginning of seeing really neat applications, think Verzion's

Orative
Has anyone heard anything about these guys? Anyone seen anything like this? http://www.orative.com/solutions.php It's seems very cool, basically uses GPRS as a digital overlay on your mobile phone for additional functionality such as presence and IM though I'm sure they have some other functionality (voicemail access, call announce etc) coming down the pipeline. Any thoughts,

Attempting new app - EES (Engineering Equation Solver)
I've uninstalled windows and this seems to be the final hurdle as there doesn't seem to be a comparable linux app (thermodynamics equation solver). I absolutely need this program for my engineering classes. Wine looks great, and the gui winetools is pretty neat too. While running the program i get: X Error of failed request: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) Major opcode

FW: TellMe pay-as-you-go? - UPDATE
As some of you know I've been trying to facilitate an involvement with www.tellme.com <http://www.tellme.com/> speech recognition tools and Asterisk. See www.studio.tellme.com <http://www.studio.tellme.com/> There have been a number of people who are already integrating the two and utilizing Tellme as an ASP to deliver speech recognition to their asterisk applications.

Astricon followup
For the benefit of those outside of the USA or those unable to make it to Astricon; I wanted to send out this email. For those of you who attended Astricon in Dallas last week what was the one thing that you saw that made the trip worthwhile? (if we post enough information or comments it will be of benefit for those that didn't attend) For me personally it was the volume of
