IAX voice distortion with full upload channel / SIP ok
Hi, this is the scenario: One * is placed in a central location with more than enough up/down bandwidth. One * is placed behind a DSL 3000/384. Both * are linked via IAX trunking. Everything is fine until the upload channel of the remote site is filled with a download, then heavy voice distortion starts. Well of course this is expected. So I fooled around with HFSC QoS scheduling on the remote

SIP & IAX behind NAT
I'm trying to set up * server behind NAT. The box is set up as DMZ in my DSL router, i.e. all incoming connections without explicit port mapping are forwarded to *. So far I'm unable to get this setup to work for either IAX or SIP (tried IAXComm & XLite softphones on public IP address). Data seems to come in fine (IAX/SIP debug shows message interaction taking place), but there is no

Has anyone got sip/IAX working behind a firewall?
I have read loads of the emails on the subject but have not read a setup I could use. I have a windows box using Winproxy to dial up the internet through a DSL modem. My internal network I am using while developing. My internet network has been renumbered so that I could test using Nikotel4Mac. It will only accept certain numbering schemes so I have changed my ip's on the internal network

IAX Implementation Problem
We have been, unsuccessful, trying to implement inter-asterisk communications using IAX. I was wondering if anyone is having similar problems, or would share information about their succes/ Our environment consists of two servers with public IP addresses and DNS entries that resolve. (for the example we use "domain.net") Based on the information available to us, we have tried the

Problems with IAX configuration
We have a running Asterisk on a small server (RH 9.0) und were able to make calls via SIP. Since the quality was rather poor (one of us has only a 150/75 kbps DSL connection, iLBC did not work(?)) we tried to setup clients (FireFly) and Asterisk for connections via IAX. In some point seems to be a mistake. Asterisk says: -- Executing Dial("IAX2[83022777@83022777]/2",

IAX - newbie question
Dear all, I've been taking my baby-steps toward setting up an Asterisk phone system in my office, as also between my home and office (connected by DSL). I'm have a rough time getting two * boxes talk IAX over a LAN. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but am attaching my iax.conf and extensions.conf on both the boxes. Does anyone see it? ------config files start------ site-0

Asterisk 1.2.4 (behind NAT) IAX registration "Refresh 0" problem
Hi all, I've had a strange problem this morning and I know someone who has reported exactly this problem to me too last week: - I've setup a new server running Asterisk 1.2.4. Currently there is no Zaptel hardware install (but there will be soon). This server is behind a NAT router on an DSL line. The remote IAX server on the Internet (which handles the call termination / origin)

NAT and SIP.conf update.
I have a standard BT home DSL, which means I cannot have a static IP address, therefore i'm forced to use NAT, I subscribe to a DDNS service and have written a VB app which polls the router every 10 seconds and updates the DDNS if appropriate. This is fine but I need to be able to modify my sip.conf (externip = w.x.y.z) and reload sip, does anyone know of a script/app which does an nslookup

iax.conf qualify=yes not working?
We have many IAXy devices in the field now. In all cases, in iax.conf, we have "qualify=yes", so that using "iax2 show peers", we can see whether or not the device is currently online. In some cases, the IAXy device and/or Asterisk are not communicating their qualification, because "iax2 show peers" shows the device as status UNKNOWN. However, when a user picks up

IAX with shaw cable not going through
I just changed the from DSL to Shaw Cable (static IP) configure the firewall but now asterisk I can not register with FWD nor VoipJet calls going out. I am using IAX with FWD Did I missed to change a setting? I don't think there is any though. I am on shaw extreme connection; I just talked shaw tech. and they are not blocking any port - I was told. So why IAX will not register with FWD and

Amazing, great protocol IAX
Hi; I've just had a couple of discoveries in the learning process that are really making me impressed with this software. 1) IAX transfer - I'm running Asterisk boxes A, B, and C. B is in the middle and has a dialplan that points to extensions on C. When a client on A in the proper context on B tries dialling a client of C, B is smart enough to release itself somehow from playing

jitterbuffer in pure voip (sip/iax) - what is best practice
I know, that jitterbuffer should be set at receiving side and on outgoing call leg, ie. if sipphone calls to asterisk and outgoing to zap chanel, I should set jitterbuffer on zap channel (to dejjitter audio stream from sipphone) but what about pure voip situation (i.e. iax-iax, sip-iax, skinny-iax etc.)? I have following setup (homeworkers using sip phone connected to home asterisk via SIP and

iaxComm - IAX client for Win32
iaxclient.sourceforge.net is the home of Steve Kann's crossplatform port of the iax library. iaxComm is a client written in c++ using wxWindows. There is a Win32 binary on the site. I think that it should be compilable on Linux and MacOSX, but can't test it. Feedback is welcome.

JACK compatible SIP/IAX client (related : Asterisk JACK application)
Hello list, I'm looking for a SIP/IAX client that would hook its audio on the JACK audio server on the client host. I first tried to use the Asterisk JACK application, installing an Asterisk instance on the client host, but I got mitigated results : the host runs a RT kernel (necessary for my use of JACK) but each time a new call is started, it triggers Xruns. Not good. Also, during the call,

iPhone SIP or IAX client (without proxy)?
I checked the app store and haven't found anything promising, but I figured I'd ask here. Does anyone know of a SIP or IAX client for a non-jailbroken iPhone that will communicate directly with a machine running Asterisk? I know that there's at least one offering that seems like it's essentially a proxy (App runs on iPhone, iPhone talks to 3rd party server, 3rd party server talks
