PRI Woes continue
System is built on a SuperMicro motherboard with Serverworks chipset, IRQ
is not shared. Have a dialplan that worked for 8 months without errors,
tried reverting to older release then upgraded to 1.0.3 stable release,
currently running on fedora core 1 kernel 2.4.22-nptl.2199 (have tried
plain jayne), telco says "it's not us", HDLC abort seems to occur when
when a Zap channel hangs

Can asterisk be run as non root anymore?
safe_asterisk used to work fine but with v1.0.3 I am getting all kinds of
permission errors, intermittant failures, etc. Even with file permissions
relaxed and ownership set to asterisk it craps out. Seems to work fine
when run as root. Comments???

New RPM packages for CentOS4.0
Greetings list,
It's been a while since I've been able to focus on asterisk packaging
but this weekend I took some time to audit and recompile packages for
CentOS 4.2. You can find them here.
ftp://ftp.linuxsys.com/ftp/pub/releases/CentOS-4.0
You have your choice of 1.2.1 or 1.0.10 releases. If you need zaptel
modules then install this kernel as well:

What is the best and easiest flavor to be usedwith Asterisk.
Almost any distro will do, since 2.6 kenels are bleeding edge you might
have to spend more time getting everything working, and in most cases
you are best served by determining which distro your hardware
manufacturer supports, Dell typically supports only redhat, HP supports
suse on many boxes. While there are workarounds, having the hardware
manufacturer deal with driver issues is a bonus.

How do I know that my machine will support APIC?
Regarding the SMP and interrupt issues. I know my machine is not running
APIC now, but how do I determine if it is capable?
Can I find out from the running system or is this something I need to
know from the mfg?
Currently the X100P shares IRQ with the secondary SCSI (yeah, go ahead
and laugh). The box is a Dell PowerEdge 1400SC. Apparently the "SC"
means Simplified Configuration and

PRI Errors
I just had the same exact problem this morning. The only thing I've done in the last couple of days is update update zaptel. I rolled back my zaptel to 2/11/04 from 3/8/04. And kept my libpri from 3/8/04. I never had this error before updated. I had other issues, but not this one.

OpenLinux 2.2: LISA install leaves root access without password
Hello,
I believe I''ve found a bug in the installation process of OpenLinux 2.2
when using the LISA boot disk. During the installation a temporary passwd
file is put on the new file system containing the user "help" set uid=0
gid=0 and no password. Once you are prompted to set the root password and
default user password a new passwd and shadow file is created yet the help

Google Voice / Jabber auth problem
asterisk-1.8.13.0
iksemel-1.4
I have a client who setup a gvoice account using their domain in the
login name:
username=client at theirdomain@gmail.com
This appears to have caused a problem with authentication. I've tried
escaping the @ and quoting the login string, etc. but it simply won't
authenticate. I don't believe my configuration is bad as the same server

Building Modules Against Xen Sources
I''m currently trying to build modules against the kernels created
with Xen 3.0.5rc4.
This used to not be such a problem, as Xen created a kernel directory
and the built in it. Plain Jane, nothing fancy.
I''ve noticed that somewhere since I did this (which was as recent as
3.0.4-1) the kernel build now does things a bit different.
Apparently there is some sort of

Is XVD live resize possible?
Hi!
Say I export an LVM logical volume from dom0 as /dev/xvda to the domU:
disk = [ ''phy:xenimages/stan,xvda,w'' ]
No I can lvresize xenimages/stan in dom0, but the domU stays ignorant
of this change. How could I propagate the resize to the domU without
rebooting or temporarily breaking its connection to /dev/xvda? Sort
of a SCSI rescan, perhaps?

Does XEN support crash carts?
While VNC is good enough, it doesnt work
if the NIC is down. So is there a way to switch
amongst guest VMs once a crash carts
monitor/keyboard/mouse is attached to the
video/USB/etc. ports (on the back of the physical
box running XEN)?
For the network down (out-of-band)
emergencies, is there a way to
switch amongst domain and/or guest VM
consoles once a crash cart terminal

The Joys of ADSI
Hey Everybody,
You may remember be as the one that was generally running in circles
trying to get ADSI phones to work?
Well, five phones later, I've got a phone and a code that works to
program it.
I have been discouraged from just posting it to an e-mail forum, but I
have been encouraged to get it embedded in the program. Is this
possible? How should it be done?
Next, after getting it

Call Queue Manager and DID Digits
I've been asked to create a graphical "call-queue"
manager. That is, use the existing call queues application but allow
a way to view what's coming and attach information to it. As far as the
"attaching information" that's in the realm of my application, but I'm
trying to figure out if the internals of queues are exposed through any
interface. Any help there?

[PATCH 2/2] linux/x86: Disable all accesses to the IO-APIC pages
Similar to the local APIC changes, the IO-APIC access mechanisms should also be restricted to the Xen-specific ones
(other than for the local APIC, where the access mechanisms must be entirely suppressed). A nice side effect of this is
that the fixmap area shrinks quite a bit, allowing 32-bits to use a little more low memory.

IO-APIC line level race condition
Sadly, we have discovered another line level interrupt race condition in
Xen-4.1. The result was that an outstanding un-eoi''d interrupt at the
IO-APIC resulted in the mptsas controller offlining the root filesystem.
This is now two separate IO-APIC bugs found recently.
1) Cisco C210 M2 server - EOI Broadcast Suppression, io_apci_ack=old
2) Dell R710 - No EOI Broadcast Suppression,

[patch] IO-APIC in drivers/pci/quirks.c
This patch moves the IO-APIC include inside #ifdef CONFIG_X86_IO_APIC , which
is how Linux 2.6 has it. This is needed for architectures without
asm/io_apic.h. I''ve verified that x86 still builds; please apply.
