Newbie - setup help
Hi,
I'm trying to setup Asterisk on a Linux (redhat 8) machine.
There are no analogue phones to be used & use is purely for internet traffic
(SIPs).
I've followed the setup guide from :
http://www.automated.it/guidetoasterisk.htm
But cannot get asterisk to run.
If I type asterisk at the command prompt I get invalid instruction
If I type ./asterisk start I get [FAILED]

Another "Unable to create channel of type 'Zap' (cause 0)" error
.. and from a newbie no less :-)
I have configured my BT101, and hooked it up to my * box. All is well.
I have entered the following in externsions.conf, and this bit works:
exten => 613,1,Answer
exten => 613,2,Playback(demo-echotest)
exten => 613,3,Echo
exten => 613,4,Hangup
If I pick up the BT101, and dial 613, sure enough I get the echo
test.. All good.

Incoming calls on zaptel not answered.
After an upgrade from asterisk 1.2.13 to 1.2.25 including upgrading libpri,
zaptel, the incoming calls to a TDM400P REV I, with 3 FXO modules stop
working.
The board is working, I tested in another server with the 1.2.13 asterisk
version.
When a call is incoming, I do a ztmonitor to check the rx and tx values, but
nothing appears on screen.
Also changed the pci slot where the board is.

Blank Machine Again.
After a bit of looking around, I realise that my initial descision to
go for Fedora Core 3 may have been a bit premature, (I read that some
experienced users are having issues with this version) so I'm starting
again.
I just tried Xorcom Rapid, but it looks bloody complicated, and fairly
stripped back.
Which is the simplest (and most supported / used) distro / asterisk
version to use from

SVN newbie - No trunk/ in http://svn.asterisk.org/svn/libpri/
Hello,
I'm rather new to svn, so please, forgive me if this question sounds naive
but is it normal that no trunk/ subdirectory is visible in
http://svn.asterisk.org/svn/libpri/ ?
I can see a trunk/ subdirectory in either asterisk, dahdi-linux or
dahdi-tools.

cvs asterisk compile failed (newer libpri)
I used:
cvs checkout zaptel libpri asterisk asterisk-addons asterisk-sounds
iaxyprov astcc
and in the same order I try to compile it.
Asterisk ends with the lines below. It complains of a newer libpri, but
I just did it a step before!
What do I miss?
chan_zap.c:62:2: #error "You need newer libpri"

Re: Ring requested on channel already in use
I posted this 1.2.0-beta1 success story to asterisk-dev, and someone
recommended that asterisk-users might benefit from it as well.
Thanks,

detecting avaya busy tone
n asterisk 1.2 branch SVN 51363
zaptel svn 1980
libpri svn 393

Asterisk is connected via tdm400p to an avaya system to reach PSTN.
When a pstn phone hangs-up asterisk seems unable to detect the busy
tone and i keep hearing like 20 busy tones until the zap channel get
closed. I'm using loopstart to connect the fxo to the avaya.
Some suggestions for busydetection?
Thanks,

where the file zaptel.conf contains only 4 files:

I just received two TDM400P cards, but I'm having problems with them.
The full info is at:

Extra, I'm using :
libpri-1.2.3
zaptel-1.2.10
On a x86 stable Gentoo box.

New Tutorial: Asterisk on EPIA VIA C3
Hello list,
after spending the best part of an afternoon trying to build Asterisk on
an old EPIA VIA C3, I thought that writing a tutorial would make life
easier for future compilers:
http://astrecipes.net/index.php?n=356
I had never compiled Asterisk for a different architecture, and I'm pretty
disappointed at how complex it is - building Zaptel, Libpri and Asterisk

perhaps libpri issue (thought it was a dahdi issue )
I am current running on a production system
zaptel 1.4.12.1
libxpri 1.4.1
asterisk 1.4.25
The above configuration works.
I tried to update to dahdi 2.2.0, libpri 1.4.7 and asterisk 1.4.25
This did not work. calls came in but not out. I dropped back to the
initial configuration.
Today, I dried only updating libpri on the original configuration.
I removed /usr/lib/libpri* installed libpri 1.4.7,

Dear;
Thanks a lot for guiding me.
Is it possible that the installation libpri-1.4.11.5 newer than the libpri-1.4.11.5-patch?
Well, when I typed (note: I am trying to apply the libpri-1.4.11.5-patch for the libpri-1.4.11.5):
libpri-1.4.11.5# patch -p0 -i libpri-1.4.11.5-patch
It gave me that patched detected as shown below (example of one file, and I got same for other files):
