Voicemail volume
Hello,
When I listen to a voicemail message, the recorded message is
played back at extremely low volume. All the supporting prompts
are at the correct volume, it's just the incoming recorded
message that is played back almost inaudibly quiet.
There's no problem with the volume during normal converstaions so
I'm thinking this must be specific to the Voicemail application.

Remote Voicemail Retrieval...
Hello list,
I want to listen to voicemails on my * box from a phone that is not
local to my pbx. I.e., from my cellphone or my PSTN work line etc. I'm
aware that I can forward VM to email or use a web interface but that is
not always practical.
Other than doing an IVR type arrangement or a phone number dedicated to
VM access is there a way to do this? On my old POTS line I used to be

Normalize Voicemail Volume?
We generally get our voicemails emailed to us from asterisk, but some
people's messages are extraordinarily loud or quiet. I don't suppose
there is any feature to even out the volume level is there?

Voicemail- Recorded Mesage Low Volume
Asterisk Users,
I am running Asterisk 1.4.11, Zaptel 1.4.5.1, and Librpi 1.4.1 on a Debian "Etch" system. On the recorded voice mail messages, the volume is really low when retrieving them with my cell phone. I tried with multiple cell phones with the volume level high and still, the same problem. I tried to increase the rxgain to 12.2 in the zapata.conf file and it had no affect on

Suggestion for New User
I, like many people, am starting to learn Ruby because of Rails. I am
going through several tutorials and am understanding the concepts
without too much difficulty, but the one area I am having trouble with
is learning the new language.
I am not a trained programmer. Rather, I learned how to program out of
necessity and therefore lack some of the background that many of you
have.

DRY in Models
I am building an app right now that needs to grant access to three
levels of members right now - each will have their own table in the DB.
When creating the add_user action I am converting the password into a
hashed password through the model.
The way I am doing this right now, I will inevitably end up with
repeated code in three different models. Is there a way I can define
this code in

Voicemail email attachment as MP3, with tags containing sender name, number, message number
I found some great pieces of script on the internet that I've combined to allow Asterisk to send voicemails as an MP3 file, and encode the sender name and number as well as message number as tags into the MP3 file. I even include a "cover art" image which has our company logo and PBX symbol in it.
Mobile phone users love it, and Android phones can now play the attachments (without

Getting Rid of Accidental Controller
I accidentally created a controller with the wrong name. Obviously I
don''t want to have this useless controller hanging around - is there a
prescribed way to delete the controller or can I just delete the
controller file?

Emailed voicemail
Have Asterisk us at running fine, but have run into a small snag. It's
not emailing the voicemails to the users.
I have attach=yes set, sendmail is configured and works from from the
commandline (sent an email to myself).
Unless I'm wrong, or missing something, asterisk is configured by
default to send an email when a users
receives a voicemail, correct?
Thanx

UTStarcom F1000 WiFi IP Phone Review
I bought a UTStarcom F1000 WiFi IP Phone from
http://www.luxoncomm.com and tested it with Asterisk.
This is a my first impression of the device.
The F1000 supports SIP. It looks and operates like
a cell phone, and connects to the Internet through
WiFi, so you can use it at any WiFi hotspot. I set up
a 802.11b wi-fi network with a Linksys BEFW11S4
Wireless-B broadband router with no security

X100P voicemail volume too low (quiet)
Hello,
I'm running Asterisk 1.0.6 with zaptel 1.0.6 on Gentoo
Linux with a 2.6.11-gentoo-r2 SMP kernel (but no SMP
hardware) and mpg123 0.59s-r9.
When I leave a voicemail message via my X100P, the
message is way too quiet. I can barely hear it.
I googled this a bit, and I saw similar complaints with
older versions, but no resolutions. Also, many complained
that it was only too quiet via

Low handset microphone volume with Sipura SPA-841
I have just bought several Sipura SPA-841 SIP phones, and after some testing I
have found out that the volume received by other parties when calling using
the handset is very low. I've been able to reproduce this problem in the 3
phones I've tested so far. I've tried tweaking several configuration options
but nothing I has helped so far.
Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Q: ISDN / E1-PRI - fax problems - Receiving and setting of Service Indicator (SIN) / Bearer Capability (BC) / High Level Compatibility (HLC) / Low Level Compatibility (LLC)
hi,
i have the problem that i'm not able to set and receive the Service
Indication (SIN) from our E1-PRI and from our ericsson BP250.
The problem is, that the Bearer Capability (BC) together with the High
Level Compatibility (HLC) and Low Level Compatibility (LLC) forms the
Service Indicator (SIN).
The SIN is used to determine if the call is voice, fax or data. It's
essential to set

Call Screen Macro Not Exiting when call rejected
This is a followup to the posting earlier about Hunt Groups with Call
Screening.
I have implemented the following macro and for some reason the Macro does
not exit and continue the context it was called from when the called party
rejects the call - It always drops through to the NoOp at the end and
connects the call.
Below are two examples of the dial commands I am using to call the macro.

Voicemail volume adjustment
I frequently find voice messages are emailed to users with insufficient
volume - barely audible. I would like to have asterisk run a sox command to
adjust the volume of each message before emailing (perhaps once the message
has been left).
Has anyone done this? Care to share the steps?
Thanks,

Thanks!

Asterisk 1.2.7/9.1 mp3 volume is good, wav file of same volume are too loud!
Ok,
Here's another bizarre one (no strange curve balls to throw this time :P).
I have several mp3 files of some easy listening music that I pulled
off some CDs we have. They sounds fine and are at a nice volume
level.
When I run this script I wrote:
(I run it by doing ./script < filename)
mpg123 -s --rate 44100 --mono $1.mp3 > $1.raw
sox -r 44100 -w -s -c 1 $1.raw -r 8000 -c 1 $1.wav

Change email/pager VM alerts body text dynamically?
Greetings;
I've got a situation where I really need to be able to select from a
number of various (body) textx for email/pager messages when voivemails
are left, but can't seem to figure out how to change them on the fly.
Now, I know there are pre-defined defaults, which can be overridden by
entries in the [general] section of voicemail.conf, but that does not get
me there. I need to be
