dragging windows leaves traces
I have an excellent nvidia graphics card, I get excellent fps, all agp features are installed correctly etc. When I drag windows around wit hthe opaque settings on it leaves traces for a couple milliseconds as it redraws the window, but it just looks so crummy to see. I am having a hard time convincing people that using linux is a good idea. People make judgements on this type of thing and

[RFC] Merge of a reincarnation of the nouveau classic mesa driver.
For a long time the gallium pipe drivers for nvidia fixed function cards (nv0x, nv1x and, to some extent, nv2x) have remained unmaintained and godforsaken -- especially nv0x and nv1x had seen almost no progress since their creation. They've recently grown a classic mesa driver which implements many new features: texturing, hardware-accelerated tnl. However the killer feature is "it

Only some Chrontel branded chips are currently supported.

Issues with GeForce 6800 Ultra (NV40) and nouveau on linux 4.4 (powerpc)
I recently acquired an old PowerMac G5 that has an AGP GeForce 6800 Ultra (NV40) in it. I put debian stretch (testing) on it and am having issues getting the 6800 Ultra working with nouveau. Software versions: linux: 4.4.0 (powerpc) libdrm: 2.4.65 mesa: 11.0.8 nouveau: 1.0.12 On boot when the system starts Xorg I get an initially black screen that finally changes to a screen that has distorted

Hi Ilia, I experience screen tearing for both 64k and 4k page size. My iMac G5 has an nVidia Geforce FX 5200 Ultra GPU. I suspect screen tearing (as it's usually defined) is to be expected. Can you take a photo of what you're seeing, since I'm suspecting it's more than regular screen tearing? OK. That's not tearing. That's like a bad pitch on an image. (Presumably you only find the second image, IMG_1968.jpg, problematic?) I'm guessing you're using a GL-based compositor, which I fully expect to work poorly. Please try a non-compositing or XRender-based compositing environment. GM108GLM?
you can boot with nouveau.config=NvBoost=2 to enable higher clocks, but that won't fill in the difference compared to Intel. For this there are some changes needed on the mesa side regarding scheduling. Also keep in mind, that PCIe is an important bottleneck here, because the GPU can't push frames fast enough through the bus, that's why any "high FPS" benchmark will be in

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: allow nv04/nv50/nvc0+ parts of the driver to be separated
This will allow the nouveau module to only include support for nv04-nv50, nv50-nvc0, nvc0+ cards individually (or in any combination). Only compiling one of the card types at a time reduces the size of the nouveau module, from 1.3M to 700-800K, depending on the type (including symbols/etc). It should also yield a reduction in compile time as a lot fewer files are compiled. Here are the sizes

nv40 mpeg2 video decode
Hello, I have been working on a kernel and a user layer for the nv40 mpeg2 video decoding hardware: * The decode hw accepts commands written to a fifo along with a set of registers for firing (put) and queries (get). * The fifo can be mapped in vram or agp (though, agp isn't working right now). * The fifo does not support dma jumps and such like the 3d fifo. Well, I have some questions about
