In Centos 4.1: The sound events in Gnome see to sort of work. The start up (login) wave file however never plays. Various event sounds once logged in do seem to work. The logout wave file barely gets a few notes off before the final exit back to the login screen occurs. What could be causing the startup/logout sounds from not working correctly? Is there a work around for this?

Can I upgrade my Centos 4.1 system with the 4.2 ISO install disc? If so, how do I do it? It seams to want to do a full (i.e. format, wipe out old) install over everything. The KDE screen savers will only blank out the screen though most of them test ok when you hit the test button in the Control Center. The Gnome screen savers work ok. My system has a Radeon 9200SE video card and I have a ViewSonic A70f monitor. Does anyone have a fix for this?

I just tried the Centos 5 Live CD on my Thinkpad T41. It works pretty good but did not recognize my Laptop's modem or WiFi (I guess no surprise there). I do have a CardBus modem that is not a Win-modem that I could try when I get home. I did not see anyway to configure a PPP dialup call. Hi, I just built a new computer and wanted to install Centos 4.4 64bit on it. Specs AMD x2 64bit 3800+ EE Asus M2NBP-VM CSM 1 GIG RAM 60GIG HD IDE I can get it to boot from the cd and select language etc, and then it askes where the install is coming from. Cd, hd, network etc. Whats up it boots from the cd but then says its not there when it running from the cd. Any suggestions?

For some reason, CentOS 4.1 waits approximately 3-5 min at the "Determining host name and domain" during kickstart. RedHat 7.1, RedHat 9.0, RedHat Enterprise 3.0, and even CentOS 4.0 do not have this problem using the same kickstart server (my kickstart server is configured to kick all of them). Does anyone know why CentOS 4.1 is particularly slow at this stage of kickstart? Thanks
