Dear All,
I'm trying to configure my new phone Cisco 7960 to work with asterisk.
I followed http://www.asteriskguru.com/tutorials/cisco_7960_ip_phone_configuration.html
and I got into the point where I can see on the the display line indication showing
"55 <phone icon with x>" so it looks like the phone is not registered.

Can't flash 7960: P0S30200 .bin not found
When I try to flash my 7960 with SIP I get messages like this in the tftp
server logfile:
Aug 27 02:01:17 home tftpd[32590]: tftpd: trying to get file: P0S3-03-0-00 .bin
and the phone says something similar on the display for a brief moment and
puts a funny char where the space in the filename above is. Seems like
around 1 in 4 of the 7960's I have flashed with SIP have this problem.

Cisco 7960 won't register
Hello all, I've got a Cisco 7960 running version 7.4 firmware (heard there
were problems with 7.5) and I can't get it to register with Asterisk. I've
stripped down my configs on the phone to a bare minimum, and posted them
below. Basically, the Cisco phone sends absolutely no packets to the proxy
when it gets booted. If I make an outgoing call I see traffic getting to
Asterisk, but

Cisco 7960 not always receiving incoming calls
I've searched around and found a few similar situations where the
phone will call out when using a Asterisk server but not receive
inbound calls. My issue is a little stranger. If I call out from the
phone then the phone will receive the next inbound call. The phone
will not receive another inbound call until a call out again from it
first. Any ideas?
I am using SIP and am using the latest

A room full of Cisco 7960s behind NAT
I need to set up an office full of Cisco 7960 phones behind NAT with the
server out in Colo.
The first test phone registers fine, but the second one does not register.
The first phone's registration looks like so:

When the second phone tries to register, it gets back a 404 not found. Not

Where is the * servers IP defined for sip phones?
This I am sure is a very easy question, but I can't seem to find the
answer.
Here is the scenario:

the file SIP<mac>.cnf does not seem to have a place for it:

Cisco 7940 Configuration
Hello all,
I recently purchased a Cisco 7940 IP phone to do some testing with (to
validate a migration to asterisk for our internal PBX needs). I
understand that I need to update the phone for it to support SIP, so I
configured the phone with an IP address and pointed it at my tftp server.
When I reboot the phone I am currently getting "TFTP File Not Found

Cisco 7.2 firmware for SIP 7940/7960 released
Hi All,
Just a heads up - I was looking around the Cisco FTP a little while
ago and noticed that the SIP 7.2 images for Cisco IP Phone 7940/7960
were released yesterday (16th August).
No new features - all bug fixes according to the release notes. I've
already started using it.
I thought those of you running the Cisco phones and the appropriate
access who didn't yet know would like to

SIP(MAC).cnf
Any ideas?

Cisco 7960 Beating a Dead Horse
Hi all,
So I have been reading through the docs available online and the
different threads on this list, but I cannot seem to get this phone to work.
I have configured the OS79XX.TXT and SIP/SEP*.cnf files (see attached),
when I configure the phone to point to my tftp server and reboot it I
get this message:

Cisco 7940 [SIP], DTMF and Voicemail
Hi everyone,
I'd say this question has come up and been answered before but I haven't
been able to find it.
I have a Cisco 7940 that I've upgraded to SIP firmware (currently
P0S-3-06-3-00 - for some reason there was a failure when trying to
upgrade to V7 so I left it at V6).
The problem I'm having is that when I connect to voicemail the DTMF key
presses dont seem to work

I have 4 7960's that I am trying to get working but 2 of them will not
update to the SIP image on my tftp server like the first ones did.
i keep getting the error on the phone 'Defaulting CM to TFTP server' like it
isn't seeing the *.bin on the server.
are you supposed to have on of those for each phone? would be like cisco et
al to do something like that.
TIA

May be I have fiddled too much with my sipura settings but I can't get it to
give the stutter tone when there is a new voice mail waiting on the asterisk

got this working.

7960 Not Picking up new firmware.
G'Day All.
So I got the TFTP server all set up -thanks to much help from this list-
the 7960 found it and updated to SIP the first firmware P0S30200. What I
am now trying to do is upgrate through all the versions, as recommended,
to the latest version, P003-07-3-00.
I thought this would be accomplished by simply changing the sole line in
the OS79XX.TXT file to P0S30203 and reboot the phone.
