RAID 1 Post Install
Hello all, I've got CentOS 5.2 installed on an old Pentium III server. The server is used by a club at my school, and they are rapidly running out of room on the internal IDE drives that are configured in software RAID 1. I have a Silicon Image SATA controller in the server, and I was planning on adding two more SATA hard drives to the computer. Is there a GUI like Disk Druid for

Druid Open Source Edition
I have recently noticed that druid @ http://www.voiceroute.org has created an open source edition of their platform. I downloaded it today and installed it on a play system where I have about 20 ip phones ranging from cisco, polycom and aastra phones. I didn't even have to configure them as the system automatically did it for me. I have been using trixbox/freepbx combination for over that last

'partitions not contstrained to drive'???
I was trying to do a new install on RAID1 and my first drive happened to be partitioned correctly from previous use so I tried the 'clone partions' option in disk druid to create matching ones on the second drive and got this error message: "The source drive has partitions which are not constrained to the drive /dev/sda". What does that mean? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell

What's the right way to set up >2TB partitions for raid1 autoassembly? I don't need to boot from this but I'd like it to come up and mount automatically at boot. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

partition woes (mapper/isw_bdihgcgahe_Volume0p2)
Hi, I found 2 identical drives lying around and put them into a system. When booting from a Centos 5.x installer, and when being presented with the formatting option (disk druid), it says I have 1 volume of; mamapper/isw_bdihgcgahe_Volume0p2 I can't seem to get rid of it. I have 2 physical disks but disk druid is seeing 1 volume thats the same size as one of the 2 identical drives.

Restoring data from disk w/ messed up partition tables
I had the electricity go out the other day. When my Centos 4.3 workstation came up, I said yes when it got to the prompt "Unclean shutdown, force filesystem check?" prompt. It ground away for awhile and then said something about a bad superblock. Yikes! I thought, that's a bad sign. After a reboot, I got nothing but a grub> prompt. I tried booting into rescue mode using the

raid resync speed?
Has anything changed in updates that would affect md raid1 resync speed? I regularly swap a 750G drive and resync to keep an offsite copy and haven't paid enough attention to known when things changed but it seems to take much longer to sync than it did months ago, even if I unmount the partition and stop most other processes that might compete with it. -- Les Mikesell

Installation problem, possibly RAID
I burned a DVD for CentOS 4.1. I booted from it and everything went fine for the graphical screen installation. I choose separate partitions for my /boot (hde6), / (hde9), and swap (hde12) areas. My /boot partition was ext2 and my / partition was ext3. I installed grub in my /boot partition successfully. I have a Boot Loader, System Commander 8.13 which controls the MBR. The installation then

rsync to full disk
I recently noticed that an "rsync -av" to a full disk keeps sending files even after the target is out of space. Has it always done that? I suppose it is reasonable to keep trying in case it subsequently crosses a mount point or space becomes available but I expected it to quit on that sort of error. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

Problem with dual-booting soft-RAID
I set up IDE software-RAID on a test machine for testing the recover functionality. The problem is that it somehow won't boot after removing the first disk, although grub etc. seems to be setup okay. Here's some background: 2 disks hda and hdb RAID 1 setup: /dev/md0 (hda1 + hdb1) /boot /dev/md1 (hda2 + hdb2) / /dev/md2 (hda3 + hdb3) swap done with disk druid during initial setup from

4.2 install w/250GB raid arrays won't boot
hi! raid 1 arrays: I already have 2 systems running this same raid1 config. 1 sys has 2 120 gb 1 sys has 1 120gb and 1 200gb but matching the raid partitions this system here that is giving me fits right now has 1 250gb and 1 200gb. I tried it w/a new 250 gb for the 2nd drive but the same results. Will not boot. in druid, when I am config. the raid arrays, I always create the boot partitions
