Asterisk with Vonage
I know Vonage doesn't officially have a "bring your own device" type
program, but they do offer a softphone. Has anyone gotten Asterisk to
connect directly to Vonage? This would be a great help!!

Astricon talk on wideband codecs
I missed the talk that was given on wideband codecs @ astricon last week.
I tried to lookup the speaker on astricon.net, but that website seems
horribly broken at the moment, showing only a tmcnet video, whatever
page i click on.
Would somebody have the contact details for that speaker ?
Greetings,

rsync hangs or exists without copying anything
I am trying to mirror a file system using rsync. The command I am using
is of the form:
rsync -a /fs/home/6/ /usr/fs/home/6
/fs/home/6/ is an NFS file system, /usr/fs/home/6 is a local disk.
With versions 2.4.6 and 2.4.7pre1, rsync hangs at random places during
the building file list phase. I tried with and without -v option(s) and
tried breaking the file system down into smaller chunks with no

New-ish list of hardware phone vendors
This is a fairly large list of hardware phones, features, and URLs,
with some vendors I've never heard of before on it. I suspect that
any phone that doesn't explicitly say "SIP" is an H.323 phone.

Who would use Asterisk SS7?
Hello. I am new to this forum. If this issue has been discussed already,
please inform me, but my STFW have indicated that it has not.
If SS7 were available on * would it make commercial sense to use it? There
are case studies on the web (courtesy of the Death Star :->) for ISPs with
10,000+ subscriber lines showing clear cost savings in transitioning from PRI
to SS7 controlled IMT. My

Using glitz directly vs using XRender
Hi,
In the past I've found that using the glitz backend to Cairo with Xorg
made some simple animation tests I wrote go much faster. I haven't yet
tried them with Xgl but I was wondering which backend is theoretically
'best' in this configuration?
My understanding is that Xgl feeds everything drawn to the screen via
OpenGL - a bit like Quartz 2D Extreme will when Apple get it

Vmware to KVM - possible?
Is it possible to convert a VMWare image to KVM?
As I have been building a few test machines on Vmware Fusion and would like
to migrate some to a KVM server.
Thanks in advance.

Zap calls dropping just after answer
I've got a problem w/ zap calls being dropped right after they are
answered. I have a log file:
http://pastebin.com/368526
Everything looks OK except for the
DEBUG[25563] chan_zap.c: Exception on 9, channel 1
that seems to come up quite often. As soon as the other end of the Zap
answers (my cell phone), and I can even hear a half second of noise, the
line goes dead and gets hungup.

Hanging up on VoiceMailMain w/out putting in password causes call lockup
I've got an issue w/ 1.2.0beta1, where if I call VoiceMailMain from a
sip phone, and then either put in incorrect passwords or just hang up, I
never get a Spawn Extension that hangs up the call, and my sip phone is
not capable of making any more calls until I restart the daemon. Can
anybody help me fix this?

Problem w/ Asterisk hanging when caller hangs up in voicemail
When I hang up in voicemail, Asterisk seems to stop responding. (hangup
vs pressing # to disconnect). After that, no calls can be made until I
restart Asterisk. In IRC, a developer seemed to think it had to do with
me using switch => in my dial plan. Basically I never see the calling
extension get the -1 signal.
Can somebody help me figure out why this is happening and how I can fix
it

XGL and Xorg confusion
Hi,
As there has been some confusion over Xgl and Xorg here, I thought I'd
just post this. XGL acts as a client to the Xserver and acts as a server for
all programs connecting to itself. Instead of displaying its results on a
monitor, it interprets the display and calls the appropriate OpenGL APIs;
the OpenGL driver physically interacts with the screen, keyboard and mouse.
So you do need

Just Take dCAP at Astricon?
Since it is Saturday evening (7PM EST) I am asking this on the list in case
someone who knows sees it and can answer.
Astricon is in my back yard for the first time, and I could hit you with a
rock. I would always like to attend, and spoke at the 2007 Astricon in
Phoenix but don't have the idle cycles.
Question: Can I just go to Astricon and take the dCAP exam only? In and
out? Cost?

MOS Scores and LCR
Is there any tool that can do LCR for Asterisk but also take into
account MOS scores?
Is it possible to automatically generate MOS scores on random "calls"
so as to keep an updated database on a per provider, per destination,
per time-of-day score? Hopefully, with that information we can create
a better LCR module or script?
Thanks,
Daniel

Benchmark Disk IO
What is the best way to benchmark disk IO?
I'm looking to move one of my servers, which is rather IO intense. But
not without first benchmarking the current and new disk array, To make
sure this isn't a full waste of time.
thanks

512sector problem
Hello, I've got a boot image that is of size 1722, so to put it on floppy, I use
dd if=boot.img of=/dev/fd0u1722 but if I try to run syslinux on this floppy
afterward, I get:
[root at yoda root]# syslinux /dev/fd0u1722
/dev/fd0u1722: Sector sizes other than 512 not supported
Is there some way around this? Can we use syslinux on this type of floppy disk?
Lilo works, but we would really
