One domain w/ multiple subnets. Do a "join" for each subnet?
We've got Samba 2.2.2 up and running fine on an RS/6000 (AIX) machine w/ NT
authentication. We have one domain w/ multiple subnets, and need users on
these different subnets to have access to the shares on this machine.
We've tested from a different subnet than the one we originally ran
smbpasswd on, and it fails (prompting for the passwd to the share...when it

OK. time to make some contribution (centos4/ppc)
Hi,
Even now someone is actually installing (i see that from the ftp-server
logs) the centos-4/ppc beta-version from announced place.
You people have to stand up and _TELL_ me what kind of hardware _IS_
working, so we would know more than already know - 43p works.
I can't believe that all those, who installs, does have 43p too?
Please? Something, so if it's actually working on

AIX + ogg123
Has anyone managed to get ogg123 to compile in AIX? I'm got an RS6k with a
PPC 604e, running AIX 4.3.3. I can get libogg, libvorbis, libao, oggenc
(so, everything _but_ ogg123) to compile just fine. I'm using gcc,
thankfully, and not the native IBM compilers. I believe the problem to be
with the linker. By default gcc for AIX doesn't use the GNU linker, but
the standard AIX

compiling latest swfdec in debian unstable
Hi,
since a few days all the dependencies for compiling and running swfdec
0.5.90 and newer are met in debian experimental. So after adding the
experimental repository in /etc/apt/sources.list and doing apt-get -t
experimental install libsoup2.4-dev libglib2.0-dev you can continue to
test latest and greatest swfdec.
cheers,

nfsen daemon dies for unknown reason
Hello,
I am using nfsen 1.3.5 (http://nfsen.sourceforge.net/) on CentOS 5.8 x86_64 (running as a VM on a KVM Host).
For those not knowing it, nfsen is using php and perl and it allows graphing and analysis of (Cisco routers) netflow data captured using nfdump.
Often (about once a day) nfsen crashes for unknown reason. For example:

Issues with NVidia video driver and CentOS
Oh, this might be the issue - yum says it can't open
"nvidia-x11-drv-304xx-304.135-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm" - let me download it
again and see what happens.
Are there md5 hash sums on these files?

vertify which software for missing dependenies
Hi,
I'm trying to install RPM package Adobe Reader on Centos 6. I did a rpm -test -ivh on the package and it says it needs dependencies (many)
Is a there a command to verify which exact packages it requires so I wont be installing software blindly.

You are right and the problem is solved. Re: about the possible errors in Rgraphviz Package
Hi Martin,
It is really a 'PATH' problem. After adding C:\Program
Files\Graphviz2.20\bin to the 'PATH' environment variable, the
Rgraphviz package can be loaded without any error messages.
Sorry that I ONLY set my 'PATH' environment variable correctly
for R but not for Graphviz.
Thank you and Duncan so much for your great help.

Logging user activities
Hello,
What do you recommend for keeping track of user
activities? For preserving bash histories I followed
these recommendations:
http://www.defcon1.org/secure-command.html
They include using 'chflags sappnd .bash_history',
enabling process accounting, and the like.
My goal is to "watch the watchers," i.e. watch for
abuse of power by SOC people with the ability to view

PDF text strangeness (PR#7043)
Hi R-developers
I have noticed a strange little bug/feature: I often create pdf's of plots, then edit them in Adobe Illustrator. Generally this works great, but whenever I have text that is aligned vertically (along the y-axis usually), the text is written out as lots of individual objects. When the text is horizontal (x-axis, other stuff), it is all one object. I would prefer one object

RGtk2 on linux: "stack smashing detected"
Yea I am aware of this. This is because the Ubuntu binary has stack smashing
detection enabled. It's possible to build R without this checking:
export CFLAGS="-fno-stack-protector"
I have not been able to figure out why stack smashing is detected. I'm
cc'ing this to r-devel in case anyone else has an idea.
