ASUS P4P8x with Intel 865P chipset Boot problems
I have just aquired a few systems based around ASUS P4P8x motherboard with Intel 865P chipset. Attempt to install both 5.1-R and 4.8-20030810 snap have failed. I've turned off every onboard device in the BIOS that is possible. During the install of 5.1 the system hangs at acpi_cpu0: throttling enabled: 8 steps (100% to 12.5%), currently 100%. ad4: DMA limited to UDMA33, non ATA66 cable or

Centos 5.0 Intel G33/P35 Chipset Support (Asus P5K-VM, P5KC)
I have 2 new boxes that I cannot use yet because of problems supporting these newer chipsets in 5.1. Does anyone know when the CD version of 5.0 x86-64 that has support for these chipsets be available on any on a Centos mirror? Has the support for these chipsets been added to yum yet? Here are my latest results with these chipsets and Centos 5.1 1. Asus P5K, E6850, P35 Chipset: Does not

Additions: Boot problem on a P4P800-based computer
Hi again, Anyone has an idea how to debug this problem? I tried nearly everything possible, including disabling devices in the BIOS and in CLI mode. I even replaced the CD-ROM drive with another one, just in case it is faulty. The problem persists... The thing that is hanging the probing session comes after PLIP. That's where the boot process always stops... Next thing is to remove the hard

motherboard to use with CentOS 3
I'm about to build a server. I want to use a P4, and have lotsa RAM, I don't need audio, I do want to do RAID, but I'll do software RAID if hw isn't available for IDE. the RH hardware list seems rather woefully out of date, does anyone have any recommendations for a good motherboard guaranteed to work? I'm looking at ASUS P4P800-E-deluxe which has a driver on the ASUS site

asus-wmi.ko for Asus G73Sw running CentOS 6.2
Hi List, Just loaded our favorite OS onto my new ASUS laptop. Practically everything worked out of the box - I used the live DVD to check things out and installed from there. I have followed http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/553474-g73-asus-wmi-linux-driver-i-need-your-help-6.html to get suspend working and also to get function keys working for LCD screen backlight

Intel VT-d and Asus Desktop/Workstation mainboards, eg. Asus P9X79 WS
Good day to you Im a casual Xen user and am also using I/O Virtualization. I had always trouble getting DMAR tables (and IOMMU) recognized with Asus Mainboards, despite the fact that I always used this boards a lot. Since the Nehalem Intel architecture, I looked into Intel Mainboards due the fact that this seems to work out with Xen, Linux and VT-d. My request is, that someone who tried Asus

:: BIOS Motherboard Settings ::
I am using an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe which is a motherboard that has been tested with Asterisk. I am unsure about the PCI slot and IRQ settings in the BIOS and am having problems with a WCFXO card sharing with other devices. Any suggestions on the settings required for Asterisk to avoid IRQ conflicts? Thanks :) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

The semaphore timeout period has expired
Hello Hamish. I found your message just googling for Suse and sk98lin. Did you solve your problem? I had the same case and only way to restore was to change NIS driver speed settings from AUTO to 10Mb. And it was not related to OS as the same problem is in WXP ( I have dual boot, ASUS P4P800, integrated GB NIS ). Oleg.

[Asus Eeebox] USB FXO adapter?
Hello I'm contemplating building an Asterisk voice server out of the compact Asus EeeBox: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&l2=165 But they're so compact, they don't have a PCI slot to handle an analog phone line. I'd like to minimize footpring and cables: Besides analog/SIP boxes like Linksys (extra cables + transformer), does someone know of a USB adapter that is

CentOS on the Asus Eeepc ...
We talked earlier on IRC about the Asus Eeepc I think the idea was to start a wiki page with at least informations regarding the Eeepc. So here it is : http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Asus/Eeepc (not linked from the CentOS on Laptops wiki page yet though , still a draft ;-) ) I had to modify the installer initrd.img to include the atl2.ko module for the wired nic to install from my local

ASUS PT6 or Intel DX58SO for CentOS?
I'm looking at setting up a new machine to run CentOS 5 and a few VMWare machines to test Windows XP, Vista, and 7. I'm working with a custom PC shop and they've recommended I use either the ASUS PT6 or Intel DX58SO. Any feedback good or bad on either of these? Thanks! --Chris

Sound setup on ASUS laptop (Intel High Definition soundcard)
Hi, I just got a brand-new ASUS laptop, a W6F light laptop. So far I managed to get everything to work (wireless, X, ...). The only thing that stubbornly refuses to work is the sound. Here's the sound card: # lspci | grep -i audio 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) I googled quite a bit for this. Some folks suggested to

Can't compile Wine for Asus 901
I have tried 1.1.7. ./configure says: You need to install Xlib/Xfree... devel. I have installed x11proto-core-dev, which deprecates 'x-dev', 'cos x-dev is not applicable. Is it possible to edit configure so that it makes use of x11proto instead ? I assume asus 901 has Xandros on it, but some say it is Linpus. Xandros has not replied anything, asus support they have no responsiblity of

ASUS WL-100W PCMCIA Wireless NIC
Hi everyone, Any chance I can get the card[1] in $subj to work under CentOS 5.1 ? The only thing I get in dmesg when inserting/removing the card, are messages from pccard: --- dmesg --- pccard: CardBus card inserted into slot 0 pccard: card ejected from slot 0 --- end --- When inserting, no new network interface becomes available, so I assume it doesn't recognize it. Any way I can get it to

Asus L1N64 - a good candidate for a ZFS based home server?
This Asus board looks promising, assuming the parts (nForce 680a chipset) are Solaris friendly: http://www.asus.com.tw/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=136&l3=486&model=1530&modelmenu=2 The board boasts 12 (!) SATA2 ports. The FX-7x series CPUs appear to be a very cost effective ($799) 4 core solution. Ian
