Distinctive ring Issues
Hello all!
We have a PSTN line with four numbers calling into it. There is
distinctive ring on these lines. They are are follows:
1. standard ring
2. short ring
3. long ring
4. short ring, long ring, short ring
Based on the information I have been able to find, I have created the
following entries in my zapata.conf file, to
try and weed out some of the timings:
dring1=95,0,0

Distinctive Ring
Hi All,
I was wondering what the status of distinctive ring support in Asterisk
is? I had a google search & read and Mark Spencer wrote some support for
it.
Is distinctive ring different in every country or is it pretty standard?
And for my final question, does the Wildcard FXO card support
distinctive ring?
Essentially what I'm trying to do is route incoming calls with ring #1

IAX2 dropping call?
Hello all,
I updated from CVS 3 days ago and now my IAX2 gateway is dropping
calls without warning.
It happens right in the middle of a conversation with no pattern. I
never had this
Problem before and am usually talking 2-3 hours a day.
Is their a bug? Should I rollback?
Cheers,

Question about the 'fax' extension
I was looking at the wiki on 'Asterisk as a voice/fax switch'
And was wondering if the extension 'fax' is global to extensions.conf
Or just to the context it is in?
The reason I ask, is that my PRI might have 5 channels that will be
scrictly
Fax, and to be functional, I need multiple 'fax' extensions in my
various
Contexts.
Hope that makes sense,

Configuring TDM400 in Australia
Hi, all
I have installed TDM400 with 1 FXS and 1 FXP ports.
Now I am goig through documentation on how to configure it.
It mentions 3 protocols: Loopstart, Groundstart and Koolstart. Which one do
I use?
Can someone send me sample zaptel.conf file for Australia? This will save me
some time and will be used as a working example.
Thanks,
Rudolf

Question on echo's for Canadian Asterisk users ...
Has anyone has issues with echo using a Wildcard with a PRI from a
major Canadian Telco? (Bell, Telus, AllStream, Sprint, Group Telecom).
We are using a T1 from GT that is giving use annoying echos whenever a
SIP/IAX2 client calls a
local analog line. Calling cells phones is no issue since its digital.
Regardless, there should
be no issue with echo on a PRI at all.
NOC at GT is telling us

Distinctive ring detection not detecting ring cadences
I'm using Asterisk 1.4.5 (will try 1.4.6 on Thursday, but I don't see
anything in the changelog after the 1.4.5 release dealing with
distinctive ring), zaptel 1.4.3, and wanpipe 2.3.4-10 with a Sangoma
A200 card. I enabled usedistinctiveringdetection in zapata.conf.
However, on the Asterisk console, the output I get is:
-- Detected ring pattern: 0,0,0
It would appear that Asterisk is

question on IPSEC behind NAT
Helo to all,
I am attempting to establish an IPSEC tunnel to a remote freeswan G/W

My laptop sits in behind shorewall at home. From the documentation, this
is what I
Modified in Shorewall:
/etc/shorewall/tunnels:
ipsec loc 24.65.x.x
/etc/shorewall/policy

My question is, have I left anything out?

Caller ID with BT CD50
Hi All,
Having searched the archives, I can see there has been much discussion
at various points regarding capture of caller id information from good
old BT.
If I understand correctly, it seems that not only do the drivers not
currently support it, but my X101P possibly/probably can't do it anyway
due to hardware?
So, that leaves me with the modem route, which seems more and more
unlikely,

zapata configuration & parsing
Hi gang. Just put an FXS port on a Zap interface for the first time. I
can't figure out which parameters in zapata.conf are global and which
ones can be channel specific & nested. I have mucked around with it but
I can't seem to make any effect on the gain levels on a per channel
basis.
dring1context=pbx }
dring1=0,0,0 } obviously global because it sets conditions for

Echo Issue
I know this subjeact has been beaten in here so much, but, here is my
issue.<br /><br />I have a TDM400 with 2 ports tied into our telco lines.
I have run fxotune on the lines, and have got the conf file in my /etc
folder. I have fxotune loading in my startup right after the drivers load
up, then asterisk loads up. <br /><br />Problem! When calling out, we get

TDM400 FXO stops handling outgoing calls, but still accepts incoming?
I have a bit of a weird problem that I'm having great trouble debugging.
I have a TDM400P PCI card with two FXO and two FXS modules. Both FXO modules
are connected to BT lines here in the UK. Both BT lines have V23 Caller-ID,
which works fine with Asterisk. Both asterisk and zaptel are fresh from CVS.
Both FXO modules (channels 3 and 4) are in "group 1" for outgoing calls.

X100P outbound only (Don't answer)
I tried implementing my * and it didn't pass the spouse factor at this
time. I wanted to hook it up for outbound only at this point to get a
better handle on the dial plans and the echo problem.
I thought this might have been done before as a natural part of testing
- but maybe not.
In wcfxo.c I found this:
if (!wc->offhook && !wc->ringdebounce) {

More about Accounting
I should also mention that Accounting rules are not stateful -- each rule
only handles traffic in one direction.
So for example, if eth0 is your internet interface and you have a web
server in your DMZ connected to eth1 then to measure HTTP traffic in both
directions requires two rules:
DONE eth0 eth1 tcp 80
DONE eth1 eth0 tcp - 80
Associating a counter with a chain allows for aggregation.

UK (British Telecom) Caller ID again
I've followed the recent thread on caller id with UK British Telecom
networks (where the caller id data is delivered before the first ring).
My understanding is that if I use a recent CVS head (e.g.
CVS-HEAD-09/18/04-17:45:52) and a TDM400 with FXO modules, all I need to
do is include the line:
usecallerid=uk
In my zapata.conf (in the [channels] section)
I've done this, but I get:

T100P: Can't Make/Receive Zap Calls (Long Newbie Blah)
All,
Alright, I've looked around the internet, the voip-info.org wiki, and
browsed the contents of this mailing list. While I've found a couple of
scenarios that are close to this one, I haven't found one that uses my
particular card (T100P). Without further delay --
I have successfully configured internal SIP services between a Snom 200
and a Windows X-Lite client and have
