spandsp tiff debian question
oops. sent this last night - I was getting this list on an alias that I didn't
send from.
Hello,
I am attempting to setup spandsp on debian-unstable-2.6.7-recent-HEAD. Gnome
requires libtiff3g 3.6.1-1. I downloaded libtiff 3.5.7 and 3.6.0 and was
able to install 3.5.7,spandsp, and reinstall asterisk. A newer Makefile.patch
was needed, then I switched a few lines in the Makefile (from

libtiff 3.6.1 and Asterisk spandsp
Per: http://soft-switch.org/spandsp_faq/ar01s07.html
FAXing with spandsp keeps giving me core dumps. Its crap, isn't it?
Actually the crap in this case is probably libtiff. Versions 3.5.7
and 3.6.0 seem reliable. The FAX image handling in version 3.6.1 is
broken. All the core dump problems I have investigated turned out to
be due to a very old version of libtiff, or version 3.6.1.

spandsp and app_rxfax (alternative topic: t38modem)
Dear gods of the PBX (flattery works here, right?) -
I've been pulling my hair out trying to get Asterisk to receive and
decode a fax using spandsp and app_rxfax. It seems like it should be
working. The fax machine on the other end connects and Asterisk reports
a fax coming in. But when it's done all I have is a 2 or 3 KB TIF (see
attachment).
The console activity looks completely

Spandsp - Libtiff problem
Hello all,
I use Fedora 3, and I have compilation problem of SpanDsp , when
installaing spandsp, tiff warnings and errors generated and libunicall
generate "unresolved references....."
Is the problem in my libtiff installation, spandsp.h or in tif_dir.h and
tiffiop.h?
Are tif_dir.h and tiffiop.h too old?
The solution provided by ?HO SIN? to ?Kaws? :
>>> recompile libtiff

Hi Ppl.
Once, couple weeks ago when I have updated * from CVS-HEAD something

of spandsp (0.0.1, 0.0.2pre4, 0.0.2pre10) but without any changes.

libtiff-devel-3.5.7-16.1. Everything compiles smoothly, but when I try

spandsp 0.0.2
Hi all,
There is a test version for the next release of spandsp at
ftp://ftp.opencall.org/pub/spandsp/spandsp-0.0.2pre2 Only use this if
you wish to experiment. In general, using spandsp-0.0.1 is probably more
stable right now. If you have had problems with Canon FAX machines not
accepting FAXes from spandsp-0.0.1 you might like to try this version. I
have had at least one report from

spandsp / I get only garbage in my faxes
I am trying to use spandsp 0.0.1k-whole.
I have 2 X100P working well for inbound/outbound calls.
I have tried libtiff 3.6.1 and 3.5.7
With 3.6.1 I get only faxes all black, and 3.5.7, I get blank vertical
lines and the rest all black also.
During the transmittion, apparently there is nothing that can indicate any
error except some "Training errors".
The sender fax thinks that the fax

spandsp rxfax under Linux 2.6 w/TDM400?
Hi,
I have got my Asterisk server running with TDM400 card (2xFXO & 2xFXS).
I originally had the system configured with a Panasonic fax machine on
one of the extensions. Due to the high volume of fax spam, I figured it
would be a much better idea to capture the faxes as TIF or PDF files to
minimize wasted paper, etc. I have downloaded, compiled and installed
spandsp and can see the rxfax

SpanDSP/RxFax help...
I've seen people mention that they have fax reception working with
Asterisk, spandsp, and app_rxfax.
I'm using the latest Asterisk from CVS, SpanDSP 0.0.1k, and the latest
app_rxfax.c (as mirrored by friendly list members recently), and libtiff
3.5.7. Asterisk is detecting the fax signal properly, and executing
the fax extension in the dialplan.
The fax part of the dialplan is pretty

Libtiff 3.5.7 - recommended version for spandsp
Hi,
package tiff-v3.5.7 contains the currently recommended version
of libtiff in order to run spandsp (fax support for asterisk).
Imho tiff-v3.5.7 is not very easy to find in the internet, and
maybe will almost disappear, because it is an "old" version,
I put it on our little asterisk download page. Maybe it'll help
someone.
It works fine together with the other asterisk stuff

Where are Spandsp changelogs or bugs available ?
Hi,
Maybe this question has already been answered but I could find its answer
anywhere.

When you open this archive file, you can see a ChangeLog file but its

Having problems sending and receiving faxes with SpanDSP. I am testing on a
simple 2 analog POTS to 2x X100p set up, connecting one line to a Konica 720
fax machine to test, or with other remote fax machines. Voice calls are
working pretty well now. Platform is P3/800MHz/256MB/FC1.

spandsp and freebsd
Hi,
I have problem installing spandsp-0.0.3pre24 on FreeBSD 6.1. I get error:
configure: error: "Can't build without libtiff" . But I have installed tiff
from port tiff-3.8.2. I understand that the problem is about libtiff, and
spandsp can't find these libs. So how to fix the problem?
Thanks

txfax spandsp
I've been using spandsp and rxfax to receive faxes for a while now and over
the past few days I've looked into the other side of things - txfax. I
can't seem to get it working properly. I've included debug logs below of
both the tx and rx side of things. I've tried three different servers,
asterisk v1.0.6, 1.0.9 and CVS, FC2 and FC4, libtiff 3.5.7 and 3.7.1, TE405P

spandsp compile error: PTHREAD_RECURSIVE_MUTEX_INITIALIZER_NP' undeclared here
Hey All,
I'm having a bit of a problem trying to get spandsp working on my
asterisk machine. The machine is a Redhat 9.0 install with the latest
version of libtiff and libtiff-devel (according to freshrpms.net).
I manaaged to download, compile and successfully install the actual
spandsp package with no errors. The problem comes when I try to compile
the rxfax and txfax asterisk
