Anyone running giFTui successfully on CentOS?
I've been hunting this down on the internet, but haven't had any
success, so I'm going to ask here. Does anyone on this list know
anything about giFTui?
I've tried running it, but get this error:
giftui: error while loading shared libraries: liblinc.so.1: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
I can not determine how to get this shared library on my system.

configuring a program vs installing rpms (giftui)
I decided to try the program giFT, and went to their web site to see
what to do. It wasn't clear at first that any RPMs would be available,
so I tried installing it using configure, make, and make install.
It was only after trying to find a GUI interface, and I decided on
giFTui, that I discovered that RPMs were available. So I downloaded and
isntalled them, and then found an incon in my

Just complied from CVS and am getting this error:
/_/usr/local/bin/wine: error while loading shared libraries:

Library out of date? Some other setting?
I'm new to Linux and compiling your own programs. Keeps life
interesting though.

object file: No such file or directory.
Please let me know which is the normal way to recover since

error while loading shared libraries: libpam.so.0
Hiya all, am currently running centos 4 on a dual xeon (emt64).
I get the following error.."error while loading shared libraries:
libpam.so.0" from a dell info app.
I'm guessing its because currently it wants the 32bit ver of pam? (As the
file can be found fine in /lib64). Tried linking, but guessed that wouldn't
work.
Does it need a compat set of libs for it libpam.so.0, or

R: error while loading shared libraries: libg2c.so.o
I have just installed the version of R for Linux Enterprise Server AS. When R is launched, I receive the following error message:
R: error while loading shared libraries: libg2c.so.o cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory
I have added the path to the library above to the /usr/etc/ld.so.conf file and then run ldconfig -v. The listing then shows that the libg2c.so.o is

Where do my RPMs actually go, and is it different for Red Hat builds?
I'm trying to install themes for KDE. In doing so, I came across the
following web site which seems to have the themes I want as RPMs:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/17/dept/3/idg/User+Interface_Desktop
The theme I want is called "Thinkeramik", and it has the following
versions, for various Red Hat builds:
thinkeramik-3.2.1-1.0.el3.kde.i386.rpm RedHat EL 3

I've made a new attempt at build Dovecot. The build and then install

libraries: libdovecot.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file

SuperOdoctor for super-micro
Rats... found some hardware monitoring from the vendor and it's broken,
or I'm missing some pieces. No mention of CentOS specifically, but RH
is supported, so figured it *ought* to work. I'm apparently missing a
library -- liblinc.so.1, and a net search reveals several sources, both
for x86 and 64-bit. Tried them both, after the x86 did not work, and
the 64-bit I thought was

I try to run dovecot 1.0.3 on RHEL 5.1 beta.
As soon as I start it I get the following output and it's impossible to

I've been following the list for a while and it seems to ring a bell about
setting the correct ulimit, but I can't find the thread anymore, so I need to
ask. :(
Here's the debug output I've put together. I've been not able

What's the Linux equivelant of an exe file?
This is one of those questions that seems to be soo obvious to people
that no one feels the need to have an explanation anywhere. I've been
looking around the net for ages, and I can't figure out what, on Linux,
is actually a program.
I've downloaded OpenOffice 1.9 Beta, and would like to run it. I go to
the /opt/openoffice.org1.9.122/program/ directory and... then what? What
