SQL Server
Is there any support for using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008 as the SQL database for users? Although I would prefer to do it other ways, the company I work for has all of their virtual hosting authentication tied into a SQL Server. Any ideas? Thank you. Bryan

cluster with dsync mirror
I have an idea for running a pair of redundant dovecot mail servers that may be odd but it might work. I'm interested in any thoughts on the topic. Would it work to run 'dsync mirror' every minute against either mdbox or sdbox mailbox on a dedicated network connection between two (or potentially three or four) mail servers? I'm trying to avoid using a NAS/SAN or some other

Trustix 2.1 & shorewall
I have upgraded to trustix 2.1 (kernel 2.4.25-2trfirewall), there is a problem with shorewall (both 1.4.10d and 2.0) and iptables 1.2.9-2tr when I start shorewall I have the following errror: iptables v.1.2.9: Unknown arg ''--icmp-type'' Try ''iptables -h'' or ''iptables --help'' for more information with trustix 2.0 (kernel 2.4.25-2trfirewall)

Dovecot and SSD
I'm considering setting up my own mailserver with Dovecot 2.0 (as soon as it's out) and SSD. I'm debating whether it's worth it or not. I have been running a mailserver with the Dovecot 1.1 train for a couple of years and it's been flawless and amazing. I'm thinking about using either FreeBSD 8.1 w/ZFS or OpenBSD 4.8-beta on a 64 GB or 80 GB SSD (Corsair or Intel) using

FYI: Simple Small Asterisk install..
Hi, If anyone is looking for a small Asterisk installation I have managed to get it down to 296MB (If you remove the kernel source code.. could probably be made smaller if some of the devel packages and asterisk source is removed as well.) To do it I used Trustix Secure Linux 2.0 (http://www.trustix.net), did a minimum install with ssh support(92MB) and then added the required packages

LDAP for Virtual Domains
Is anyone using LDAP along with Dovecot where mail is being accessed in the form of /var/vmail/${domain}/${user}? I have not figured out how to extract the domain from LDAP in order to make this work. I know this is sparse information but maybe there is an easy fix. If not, I can post more information. Bryan

Which Distro to use?
Hello, I''m looking for a low-bloat distro that will have support for multiple service providers (DSL & Cable) FreeSWAN VPN, and other kernel patches applied. Something fairly quick and simple. I was origonaly thinking Slackware or Debian. I''d prefer something that is easily updatable (i.e. cron job) without having to deal with source. Thanks Guys. Rich.

Administrator on samba server?
Hi, I've samba 3 running on trustix 2.2. I've added an xp sp2 client without much problems. But now I'm trying to use "administrator" user on this client for administrative purpouses (adding software, printers and so on) and I've realized that, even if in Samba the user "administrator" exists, it isn't recognised by the client as an administrator. When I add

Samba Won't Work
I tried to get Samba running on my new Trustix installation all day yesterday with no luck. I'm a newbie, so there's a lot I don't know yet. At any rate, I have the Smb, nmbd, and smbd services running. I've got my smb.conf file set up properly from what I can tell. When I try the following command on my Linux box: smbclient //192.168.1.102/backup -U jesse I get the error,

XP SP1 Clients wont print to Samba / Cups Server
Hi All, I have gained my basic Linux / Samba knowledge from using SME server (www.contribs.org) More recently I have started to use Trustix Linux to build servers for specific things for example as a print server. I installed Trustix and the most recent Cups/Samba rpm's from the repository (I am pretty sure they are the latest stable releases) but I can check version numbers if this helps.

Problem with AD DC
I’ve just set up an AD DC on Ubuntu 16.04, using the instructions found at https://jimshaver.net/2016/05/30/setting-up-an-active-directory-domain-controller-using-samba-4-on-ubuntu-16-04/. All the tests work fine. I’m able to connect from my Windows 10 box when I connect to \\servername <file://servername> (and authenticate as administrator). However, when I try to join the machine to the

Problem with AD DC
Thank you for your reply. This was not a random link I followed. I have reviewed the Samba documentation at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_an_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller, and all the testing that is listed there results in correct and expected answers... I had already noted the /etc/hosts situation, which interestingly does not change the answers I get in testing

zaphfc crashes Linux
Hi all, I'm having serious problem getting zaphfc to work on my box. I d/l'd bri-stuff-0.1.0RC3/RC4a and followed the instructions to the dot. Everything builds fine. But, when 'make load' the whole machine will freeze. Anyone had the same problem and managed to solve it? I'm using a Billion HFC PCI card on Trustix 2.0 running kernel 2.4.26. As a side note, I feel that

routing telephone calls via "switchboard/asterisk".
I'm new to this list. Reading the asterisk handbook pdf (good work) but but still have some questions. Using Trustix 2.1 and installed Asterisk via CVS, zaptel and libpri. We have a dedicated server which is connected to our telephone company. It makes us able to call ordinary phones via VOIP using Ericsson DRG22. Would like to make people able to call me - and get a message "dial 1

Subfolders with Thunderbird and maildir?
I setup a test dovecot-1.0-0.beta8.2.fc5 and left most of the settings as the defaults. In Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 Windows, when I tried to create a subfolder named "subfolder" under INBOX, it showed up as the same level a INBOX and with the name "INBOX^subfolder". I was able to manually create a subfolder using "mkdir ~/mail/test_manual_subfolder; touch

PIC preferred too strongly, even at CodeModel::Large?
Hi, We were just debugging a sporadic crash the other day, when we noticed that RIP-relative addressing was being used in a JumpTable, even when code and data were well over 4G apart. This is confusing, because we picked CodeModel::Large, and expected this to be taken care of. Isn't that what gcc would do given a Large CodeModel? The default Relocation Model, Reloc::Default, folds into
