SIP phone as intercom
(new asterisk user - currently setting up Polycom IP600 phones)
Does anyone know if it's possible to make a sip phone instantly pick up
on speakerphone when a particular call comes in? Eg so that you can
quickly bother someone across the office without making them reach for
their phone?

Polycom IP 500 Voicemail
Hello All,
I have some Polycom IP 500 phones that I would like to have configured
for direct dialing to our voice mail system. So far I have been unable
to get the hard button labeled Voice Mail to connect to Asterisk without
first passing through the message center prompts. I have followed all
the Admin Guide instructions regarding the phones .cfg files and using

Polycom Reboot Script - Please wiki-size me
With my thanks to Brian West and his offering in the thread,
"Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Remote reload Cisco 7960"
I offer PolyReboot.pl, a perl script for rebooting Polycom IP Phones
PolyReboot.pl takes an IP address as a single argument and reboots the
phone.
You must have a cfg file in the Polycom style, i.e., 00ab00cd00ef.cfg - all
lower case. Further,
you need to use ftp for

Polycom IP 600 status setting in Asterisk
I love my Polycom IP600s. However, I'm not clean on how the status
setting on the phone impacts the behaviour of *. Anyone here have the
details?
When the phone is set to online and I'm on a call then * routes a
second incomming call to voicemail playing the busy message. If I
simply leave my desk and the phone remains online then voicemail plays
the unavailable message. I would have

Polycom IP500 vs Cisco 7940
Hi Everyone,
I've been asked to determine which phones our organization should go
with. And I've narrowed it down to the Polycom IP500 or the Cisco 7940.
From my travels through google, it's hard to find a definitive
comparison of the two phones. So I thought I would ask the people that
have probably used both.
From what I can tell, the only major benefit the Cisco has over the

Re: URGENT: OCFS2 hang - 32 node cluster POC
Run:
# top
# vmstat 1
# iostat -x /dev/emcpowerb 1
The latter two you can save to a file. For top, just monitor cpu usage
and see if any process is hogging all of it.

32bit and 64bit version of a package
Hi,
I''m trying to write a recipe to install the latest libstdc++ in both
32bit and 64bit flavors and running into issues. Yum only wants to
install the 64bit version if I do:
yum install libstdc++
If I do something like:
package { "libstdc++.i386" : ensure => latest }
It tells me "nothing to do"
Any suggestions on the right way to do this?
Thanks!

Sipura SPA-841
Froogle found me one supplier for the SPA-841, not sure I trust them
though. Does this phone even exist yet? Does anyone have any
experience with it? Does anyone know a vendor other than
Atacomm/voipsupply?

IP 500/600 1.1.0 Firmware
Has anyone on the list been able to locate and try out the 1.1.0 firmware? It was released in November, but I have yet to get my hands on it. The Polycom site has way more docs online, but the link to the firmware only brings up the release notes.

Polycom IP 600
I am getting ready to install Asterisk and I was looking into the Polycom
IP600 phones. I spoke with Polycom sales to verify the multiple line
appearance and they said it would work. More specifically, if lines 1-3 all
contain the same SIP registration info, the Polycom will only send out 1 SIP
registration to the server and then handle the calls ringing on multiple
lines.
I was wondering if

Source for 50-pin amphenol cables?
I'm looking for a source for 50-pin amphenol
cables, the ones used to connect Adtran's to
punch down blocks. Preferably, one that's
mail order and takes orders over the internet.
Thanks.

The database.yml file tells me to install the mysql drivers by typing:

This is the error I receive:

Cheap PoE switches/injectors?
I'm trying to spec out hardware for a new office, and I'd like to
include power over Ethernet as an option. I've seen a handful of PoE
injectors around $1000 for 24 ports and a couple switches up around
$2500 for 24 ports. Are there any cheaper options, short of buying a
boatload of 1-port injectors off of ebay? I don't really need more
then 24 ports of PoE out of 48 total

Update/upgrade paths?
Good afternoon, Netizens...
I have a number of 3.3 CentOS boxes that are quite a substantial distance
from my home office. Short of physically going to those sites with a fresh
set of CD's in hand, is there a method of remotely (via secure SSH)
updating not only the files but the distribution as well, say to 4.1? Can
you do a distribution update without using CD's?
