Australian STD "pips" & Telstra pstn
Hi folks,
just a quick update.... we managed to solve our problem by getting
telstra to turn of the STD pips on outbound calls.
We don't the effect yet on inbound (but we haven't had problems in the
past) as most of our lines with x100p's are
generally only used for outboung.

DECT and Asterisk...
Hi folks,
The recent mention of DECT on this list has got me thinking.......
(yeah dangerours!)
I have very little experience/knowledge with DECT and mainly where I
have seen it used in a multibase base situation where handoff between
bases occurr. This has been and ericsson system used as an adjuct to an
ericsson pbx on a large multistorey property.
If I remember correctly the bases are fed 2

Soft SIP phones (with RING !!)
Hi folks,
well the easiest soft phone I have found (from this list) is the x-ten.
great little piece of software.
BUT, on a windows machine I need to plug in a USB device and find the
software to drive it which can actually use a normal handset (similar
to the s100p) but can be used to actually generate/answer the calls and
actually rings when a call is received.
Any ideas ??

this is specifically directed to Australia Asterisk users......
We are having a roblem with x100p 's when dialing STD.
Upon receipt of the approximately the 5th (out of the ten) PIP's
asterisk will hang up....
Now I am wondering if others are suffering the same problem ??
Any ideas ?? (it might exist on other cards, but so far I have only
noticed the problem on x100p's).

Zap channels in AU hanging up on STD pips
Is anyone having/had a problem with a TDM400P card hanging up on STD
outbound calls as soon as the called party answers.
I'm guessing that * is responding to the STD pips in some way.

Re: Echo and other reasons to migrate to BRI
Brent-
There is no good way to say what changing the hardware and PSTN hookup will
probably do for the echo problems. I'm not sure if you mentioned (lost in
the past history of your post now) what sort of hardware you're using for
PSTN connection now- TDMs, X100s, ATA's, etc- but that could also be a
potential cause. I've heard tell of aftermarket X100s and certain ATA's

chan_capi [0.4.0|-cm-0.5.4] and Asterisk 1.2.0-beta1 - early B3 not early enough sometimes
Hi,
I've just installed Asterisk 1.2.0-beta1 for the first time and downloaded
chan_capi and compiled it in and run it. (For comparison purposes, I've
tried this with both chan_capi-0.4.0PRE1 and chan_capi-cm-0.5.4 and
chan_capi-cm latest CVS). Whilst most things are fine, it seems that if I
specify the 'b' parameter in the dial string before the number, sometimes

Pip provider fails on RedHat osfamily when pip not installed via RPM (Could not locate the pip command)
In resolving bug 15980, the pip package provider was changed to recognize
the RedHat osfamily fact and use the executable name "pip-python" in those
environments. This does not take into account environments where pip has
been installed via easy_install or by custom rpm providers. In those
environments (such as mine) this osfamily change breaks the pip provider,

Re: Echo and other reasons to migrate to BRI from POTS? Was (Echo on PRI/BRI?)
Paul,
Ah, I see. Our echo is largly under control now. It took me a while to
figure out the gains and get them tuned, and now the echo only leaves very
small artifacts. Nonetheless, this still provokes the odd complaint here and
there. We use VOIP for outgoing calls when our POTS lines are congested, and
we find zero echo during those calls. Therefore, I assume that our handsets

Floating point exception help
Hi Manfred,
I applied the patch and recompiled and reinstalled and I got the folowing
warning during my first test call:
Aug 19 12:26:51 WARNING[294927]: dsp.c:1234 __ast_dsp_silence: zero length
packet
It looks like that could be the problem... and the fix! I'll let you know if
the problem reoccurs. Might it be an idea to submit the patch to the
bugtracker?
Thanks,
Gary

GD2 to Make Charts
I''m just getting started with GD2 and have successfully made a few
dynamic PNGs. I need to make some fairly detailed line graphs on the
fly and I know that GD2 is capable of what I want but I strongly suspect
I''m reinventing the wheel badly. Are there gems or other projects that
help creating complex charts? I''ve used GDChart in the distant past

4 port BRI options ?
Hi there
I am in the UK.. and am running latest asterisk on FC1 (2.4 kernel). I would
like to know what the best option is for a 4 port BRI card. I notice Digium
don't provide one.. I have heard the Junghanns do one...but are there others
??
Is the Junghanns card reliable/stable with good sound quality ?? I notice it
is very expensive in a per port comparison with the Digium cards.... hence

RE:mandrake linux install of zaptel
Extreme N00b, I am getting the error message "a target does not exist" when
running the make install inside the zap directory, probably pretty common,
possibly a package I didn't install, just need some insight on it. The same
occurs with the libpri and asterisk.

Ronald,
Grandstream products have a one year warrantee. If you don't have any luck
with Pulver, contact us and we can probably get your phones exchanged.
Please don't assume that your experience with Grandstream is typical. We
sell a lot of these phones and the overwhelming majority of the purchasers
are very happy with their units. The quality has improved tremendously over

Beronet BN4S0 (quad BRI) card, echo cancel, zaptel timing, bristuff ...
Hi,
I guess I'd need to run Beronet quad and octo bri cards under bristuff to
get zaptel features (echo canceling, timing source).... Am I right or could
I achieve this also with chan_misdn - their native driver ?
Running bristuff on Beronet cards is unsupported. Has anyone succesfully run
Beronet quad BRI cards under bristuff recently ? Do they work ?
Regards,
Rob.

how can PRI, BRI and analog cards achieve a synchronous clock / timing
hello list,
i have a problem regarding the synchronisity (clock source) when using
multiple cards.
e.g. when having connected one PRI port of our TE410P to the telco, i
need to have the analog card like the TDM400P or a B410P synchronous to
the clock of our telco provider. otherwise faxing on the analog cards
does not work or i get cracking noise or even hangups on my BRI lines,
due to bit slips.
