Has anyone tried using a Sipura-3000 as an FXO device for *?
I am considering using Sipura-3000s as FXO devices for my * system. Has anyone tried them in that configuration? They interest me because they need no PCI slots and therefore no drivers. I would much prefer not to have any special kernel requirements for my system. /carmi

Comparisons between * and sipXpbx (PingTel's open source product)
Has anyone compared * to sipXpbx? From a cursory look, this open source version of PingTel's PBX has many features that make it more suitable as a replacement for a traditional PBX, including the ability for users to tell if a phone/trunk is in use. What I am trying to figure out is what I'd give up using sipX instead of * (and vice versa). /carmi

Using Asterisk as a replacement for a Merlin Legend.
I was just about to replace 2 Merlin Legend systems (one in my house and one in my Parent's house) with * systems. I have 2 beefy linux systems ready to go and have enough Cisco 7960 and 7970 phones to replace all my MLX-10D, MLX-16D and MLX-20 phones. Then I discovered that * seems to be lacking a critical feature for replacing a legend (or any standard PBX) and that is an ability for a

read multiplan or sylk files in R
Hello, This may sound crazy, but I have a large number of Multiplan data files I'm in the process of recuperating, and I'm hoping to avoid having to open them one by one to convert them into a modern, directly usable format. So I was wondering if someone somewhere had encountered this and maybe had a way to read Multiplan files in R, or, at least, a way to read SYLK files directly in R.

Having * show lines in use on hard phones.
I am trying to figure out is * can be configured so that users would have a similar experience to what they receive on a legacy PBX. For example, on a merlin legend (or similar PBX), I have phones that have shared call appearances so that my assistant can answer my calls or see that I am on the phone, or so that I can have one phone on my desk and one at my conference table. This means that

Oddity with internet access and R 11.0 with Sophos firewall and Windoze XP - solved
Just in case anyone else hits this. I just installed R 11.0 alongside R 10.1.0 (off my D: drive in D:\R\... but I think that's irrelevent) and all went well, I selected my nearest CRAN mirror (Bristol is the one I like) and getting the selection list seemed to take ages though it did come eventually. However, I then got an error message saying that R couldn't make contact on port 80. I

Re: The single major remaining Wine complaint everyone makes...
my thought is that the people that are complaining that the buttons and look of programs running in wine are the same ones that allow Microsoft to keep working on their GUI and not focusing on the kernel of their operating systems (anyone remember the talking paperclip in MSoffice?) They're worried about how pretty everythign is and not how it performs. hence the reason that Vista and xp never

Recuperate Spectrum() amplitude
Dear list, I apologies first for my English, hope you will understand well my question. I am working on 1/2 hour piezometric data, time unit is second. They present daily oscillation when using the spectrum() function. What I am really interested in, is to find the amplitude corresponding to this oscillation. I work with a college using Matlab, and although we apply the same methodology, our
