Kicker crashes on 3.4.2
I recently upgraded to KDE 3.4.2 (all manually) I know this is not a KDE Centric Mailing List, but I tried searching the Web for this error. Moreover, I can't get to the KDE Forum. :( Kicker application crashes on logout. Got a lot of takers, but no solution for that. Does anybody know a solution for this one? (This is a known bug, but I really did not find any solution.) -- "No-one

KDE Upgrade from 3.3.1 to 3.4.2
I have downloaded the required KDE files (version 3.4.2)(I know what all files are required), and tried to simply upgrade using the rpm -Uvh command. But i began getting dependency problems. Now, what I did was searched google like a mad buffalo :P to find that missing files, and was successful to a great extent. But the weird thing was I got a few conflicts, which I can't around with. I really want to try both of these. I have used apt-get before many a times, but never used YUM. Can anybody post the procedure to get this working? Which repositories to be added, how it is to be configured? And yes, how do i

Temporary root access to another user.
I have Cent OS 4 installed on my computer, with cable internet. My ISP requires me to login to the account before I can access the Internet. I require to type some commands to get it working. (It comes with a software which I have installed) But that requires root access. I have many users on this computer, who can't access the Internet without my permission ( And I can't tell them the

Need Dual Boot Installation Help
Adding title Windows XP rootnoverify (hd0,1) chainloader +1 to /etc/grub.conf has always worked for me on every dual boot Win2k, XP, 2k3 / linux boxes I have ever built. Install Windows first then install Linux. You do not need a kernel that has NTFS support and you don't have to play with NTLDR. I know that this goes against just about every Dual-Boot HOWTO you will

Job opportunities for Linux. [OT]
I am currently into Engineering, and I am working slowly on my Knowledge / Know-How of Linux. I am eager to know about the Job Opportunities for people who have considerably good knowledge in Linux. This thought has popped up in my mind, due to the reason that I was watching out my Local LUG, and somebody quoted like..."There aren't much Job Opportunities for Linux Knowledge compared to

Default session different for each user.
Can I define a default session for each user seperately? Or do they compulsorily have to follow the Default system session. If this can be done, tell me what all files need to be edited. -- "No-one dies a virgin. Life screws everyone."

kde 4.3 beta 2, compiz 8.2 - panel pager doesn't work until plasma crash and restart
Listmates, Woking with compiz 8.2 on kde 4.3 beta 2 on Archlinux, the plasma "kicker" pager widget does not work correctly after compiz 8.2 is started. Before compiz is started you see the 4 small desktop representations stacked 2x2. After you start compiz, the panel only shows a single large pane 'Desktop 1' no matter what desktop you are on. The strange part is that

bad text under KDE and C7
I recently installed C7 from a C7+gnome CD. Gnome was awful enough that I promptly installed KDE. KDE is not doing so well either. Text in text editors invoked by "opening" a file is flakey at best. E.g. pieces disappear and duplicate. Terminals seem ok, including vim invoked from the terminal. Firefox text seems ok. The sidebar text in file-browser windows often has "black
