chan_vpb
Hi, Has anyone using chan_vpb noticed that only one splash of ringback is provided to the PSTN? I have tried several different permutations in extensions.conf and interworking to mgcp sip and iax. I am using the Voicetronix supplied chan_vpb and asterisk from the 1.0 cvs source tree. thanks darren -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Needed Open Ports
Hi list, surely this has been posted before but the archives don't offer a 'search' functionality and I need an answer really soon on this subject... so, my apologies. Which ports (range) must be open on a firewall, either TCP and/or UDP, for Asterisk to work correctly? TIA, Martin

How/when do the PAM files get created?
I've been reading chapter 3 of the SAMBA Project Documentation and I can't find any PAM files (pam.d directory) in my /etc. Is there something I need to compile in order to have these files? How do you guys protect Samba shares from Win32 based viruses?
That's pretty much the question. I've got Symantec NAVCE running on my NT server protecting itself, the Windows clients and the Exchange server, but what do i do about my Linux based Samba server? Will a linux based AV app search for Win32 based viruses? Thanks, VeKTeReX

No writing to [homes] share
I upgraded from version 2.2.0 to 2.2.2 and since then no one can write to their home directory. Attached is a log (at 3) and smb.conf for reference. Also profiles aren't working for Windows 2000 SP2 machines. Any ideas? Possibly a security flaw...
A summary of my problem, I had wrong UIDs for a user (eg pmal) between the /etc/passwd file and the smbpasswd file. When I was trying to loggin from a couple of machines running either win nt or win 98 I was reading in the log files that the loggin could not be completed because the UID were wrong but there were instances were I could loggin from another computer with the same username. I really

Fun with Samba Panics
Well, after some other pretty horrible issues with sessionid.tdb (which I think are fixed by upgrading the version of Samba on the client to 2.2.2 as well), I have some other fun. I am now getting these messages (starting the day before yesterday): Dec 11 15:29:48 filecabinet smbd[12498]: [2001/12/11 09:29:48, 0] lib/fault.c:fault_report(40) Dec 11 15:29:48 filecabinet smbd[12498]:

(no subject)
I'm having a problem with files locking so that every time the are opened up they are opened as Read-Only. Windows doesn't see them as readonly but Samba thinks that they are write=no and so they can't be saved or deleted. I've included a log, my smb.conf, and a getfacl of a user's home directory as well as a getfacl of the directory from /home. Any help would be

How to show a debugging remark in a sip or extensions context?
I would like to show a remark that would show call progress and appear on the CLI screen. The remark should be in the code of a sip [channel] or extentions [context] If I can't send my own remark, what little used 'show' command could I insert in the code? Can this be done? -- Larry Alkoff N2LA - Austin TX Using Thunderbird on Linux

Upgrading 2.2.0 to 2.2.2
I have a stabily running Samba 2.2.0 operation in place. I've very happy and for once don't have to fight with a box to do file sharing. I've worked around some issues I've got (like ownership and ACLs) that are not directly samba problems, in fact they are probably Administrator problems. However, I've reached an impass. I can no longer use 2.2.0 because the big beast of

Proxied SIP
I want to install Asterisk for an organization that wants it to do some call routing for them. They have a SIP provider that is going to provide one termination and one origination account. We are going to have to route a rather large number of calls (50-100,000 concurrent), but can't find any information on how to proxy calls adaquately.

SMB signing.
Hi all, Is anyone using Windows SMB signing in a production environment ? This is the signing proceedure created by setting the Registry keys EnableSecuritySignature:1, RequireSecuritySignature: 1 in the lanmanserver and lanmanworkstation parameters. I'm playing with implementing this in Samba for 3.0, but am finding that it doesn't seem to work when mixing Windows NT or Windows 2000
