smbpasswd complains about LDAP: "Object class violation"
I'm trying to get Samba on a Mac OS X box running as a PDC with an
LDAP backend. I've read through all of the major walkthroughs I can
find, and we've actually already got it running very nicely as a file
server; people are currently authenticating against a different PDC
and then mapping drives from the Samba box in question.
However, I'd like it to be the PDC eventually, but

Can join domain; can't logon
I had a problem similar to my current one a week or so ago, and I was
encouraged to upgrade from Samba 2.2.9 to 3.0.7, which I did. Now
that I've completed that nightmare, the problem I initially set out to
fix is still there, just different. Namely:

Converting / to ext3.
My guinea pig laptop has only a / partition, and a small /boot
partition. I installed the ext3 kernel succesfully (I think). Now, how
do I get / converted to ext3? I'm thinking:
* Use mkbootdisk on a floppy, to create a boot disk with the ext3 kernel.
* Boot off the floppy.
* Follow the instructions to convert / to ext3.
* Change the filesystem type in /etc/fstab to ext3.
* Reboot.

Win98 SE, Samba 2.0.5, abysmal write performance
I am running Win 98 SE and have a Samba server v2.0.5 on a FreeBSD 3.3
system. Both machines sit on the same 100baseTX subnet. I am seeing
expected read performance, but writes from Win98 to the Samba share are
terrible; upwards of 30 seconds to copy a 900kb file (yes, that's kb).
This happens in both Explorer, the DOS "shell", and in the application that
actually created the file

DirHandler in surplus slashing / unrequited unescaping
im using Mongrels to serve up /usr/portage/packages for other gentoo boxen. since i guess im the guinea pig with the DirHandler, ran into a couple issues:
first, the client showed no files in the remote binhost, turns out the DirHandler was adding a trailing "/" to every filename, presumably making the client think they were directories, not files. attached is a patch which fixes this

Incoming calls through SS7 for data modem transmissions - possible??

Error messages when running mongrel on win32
Hi folks. I''m running mongrel (1.0) on a win32 box (2k3 iirc). I''m using
a Google Mini to index the contents of my rails (1.2.4) webapp. I''ve
been noticing that when I run a search, I get lots of these messages in
my mongrel console:
ERROR: An established connection was aborted by the software in your
host machine
These errors seem to be coming in response to HEAD

PDC with XP Clients, logon timeouts
Hi everybody,
I am attempting to switch 2 networks from Netware servers to Samba
configured as a domain controller.
1 network that is less critical became the 'guinea pig' network.
It is the one I am currently working to get the kinks out of.
We like the Samba servers a lot more than we liked the Netware servers,
they are much faster.

megatec_usb subdrivers for PowerMust 600 USB?
Hi!
Are there any subdriver to get PowerMust 600 work with megatec_usb already?
I've tried with agile, but that dosen't work. My only way is to use
the RS-232 cable and a COM port, but the problem is that I have only
one, and a remote control was plugged there jejeje.
If someone needs a "Guinea pig", I don't mind (I have the UPS working
with the RS-232...)

Dock-n-talk connection to asterisk
Hi Mike
FOr a home solln, $1000 isnt overly cost effective and the payback period for
myself would be too long. The technology is interesting and as everyone says,
its **supposed** to work but I hate being the guinea pig.
The dock-n-talk is interesting and supposedly it does work ok, the signalling
for hangup is poor and not sure how that will work.

Tbird-DC state problem
A experienced sysadmin who's doing some guinea-pig use of DC just ran
into the following situation:
1) He brings up SeaMonkey
2) About 30 minutes later, he's in the middle of some involved
messaging, mistakenly hits the redX in the top right of the SeaMonkey
window, knocking himself out of SeaMonkey.

Errors from remote_password_change()

I am attempting to use the remote_password_change() function from
passchange.o (a libsmb.a sure would be a nice addition to the samba
