Asterisk 1.4 + Cisco 7970
Hi All,
I recently received my Cisco 7970 and have it up and running with
8.0.4 firmware, with asterisk 1.4. Seems to function pretty great so
far, aside from a few issues.
Here is what I have noticed so far, anybody have any fixes for these issues?
1. Contrary to the forums and lists I've been reading - the phone
indeed does register. The
little registration animation stays on the screen

Cisco 7960 & asterisk 1.8.22 ringlist.dat error
Good Day everyone,
Yesterday I upgraded the firmware on my 7960 to Sip 8.12 as provided by
Cisco, however now the phone does not and will not read the RINGLIST.dat
file. I've tried rebooting the phone, tried resetting the phone back to
factory, have deleted the RINGLIST.dat file and reloaded the phone then
reinstalled the RINGLIST.dat, and still the bloody phone will not read the
file.

cisco 7912 ringlist.dat file format
Anyone know what the file format for the cisco 7912 RINGLIST.DAT file
is?
I have a RINGLIST.DAT file for a 7960 that is working fine. It's just a
list of the ring name and the file name but it doesn't work for the
7912. I've read somewhere that the 7912 needs the ringlist.dat file to
be in xml but I can't figure out how exactly it is constructed.
Thanks.

Cisco 79xx Ringtones
Hi,
I'm after two very specific ringtones for the 79xx's...
A dog barking, and a horse either galloping or neighing.
I've tried making the sounds, but for some bizarre reason they're not
working. I used to make quite a few ringtones for the 79xx's, but I
seem to have forgotten how to do it! And to top things off, I can't
even find the documentation on Cisco's site

Boot problem HP/Compaq DL360 G3
The machine in question is a DL360 G3 R03 Xeon DP 3060-512/533 (part
number: 322471-421). It's the first HP-branded model we've had so
far (previously all Compaq branded). It has 1Gb of memory and
a couple of drives on the on-board SCSI controller (setup for
mirroring in the SCSI bios). No SMP is setup right now (doesn't
get far enough to do anything with it!). In any case, this

Controlling Cisco 7960 Ringtone from Asterisk
I'm trying to change the ring tone on my 7960 from the dialplan. I've
tried the example on the wiki but it doesn't seem to work. Something like:
exten => 3010,1,SetVar(ALERT_INFO=<Bellcore-dr1>) ; selects Ringer
exten => 3010,2,Dial(SIP/3010,15)
I'm not sure what the Bellcore-dr1 ringer is supposed to be. I've tried
replacing ALERT_INFO with another ring tone

Cisco 79XX SIP Ring Tones
Hi all,
Has anyone gotten custom ring tones to work using ALERT_INFO with the
Cisco 7940 SIP phone? I've read the wiki, but just can't get this to
work. I'm currently using the 7.2 SIP image.
Thanks,
Chris

Cisco tftp
I'm writing a program to quickly generate SIP<Mac>.cnf files for tftp
configuration of the 79XX series of Cisco phones and would ask that anyone
who is interested in using this please send me working examples of your
SIP<Mac/Default>.cnf, and RINGLIST.dat files.
Also, please send me your ring tones and * related logos for possible
inclusion.
Thanks,

7960 Cisco SIP Phone TFTP Files
Hi all (is a bit of a Cisco question, but perhaps it's
already been asked here).
I'm trying to setup a TFTP server for dynamic
configuration of my 7960 Cisco phones.
Cisco docs suggest I download the following files from
their web site:
* OS79XX.TXT
* SIPDefaultGeneric.cnf
* SIPConfigGeneric.cnf
* RINGLIST.DAT
* P0S3xxyy.bin
* P0S3-xx-y-zz.bin
* dialplan.xml
* syncinfo.xml

SPA-2000 and time of day
Kevin Walsh noted that his SPA-2000 takes time from his local NTP server
in a post back on Fri June 25.
Q: Where do you tell it to use NTP?
I'm a bit confused as to where my SPA-2000 is currently getting its
time. I told it GMT-5 in the misc section but it doesn't really tell me
where its going for this. Is it just broadcasting looking for ntp?
The net of my problem is that it is 1 hour

CCM <->(H323) <-> *
Hi
I have found in
http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-July/056111.html
(Hack to make * -> (H323) -> CCM -> IOS GW work) that i need a special
version of chan_h323, because of the External RTP problem. Do you know
exactly which version is it? Or do i need an unofficial patch?
Thanx

sent into invalid extension 's'
Hi,
On Friday we changed our Telco-Provider (from German Telekom to Mnet) and recieved new Numbers. I changed the extensions in extension conf to match the new numbers. But i always get:

Rate Engine Compile Error
I've tried to compile rate-engine 0.5.2 on Fedora Core 1, Redhat 9 and
OpenNA Linux 1.0 and all give me an "Error 1" after typing "make" but with
no real reason given. Just a few standard/non-critical warning messages, and
then suddenly "Error 1"
Anybody successfully compile Rate Engine? The least cost routing module for
Asterisk?
Thanks in advance.

SIP Notify contents showing 0/0 on VoiceMail
Folks,
My question concerns the SIP Notify that is being sent to ...
device. You can see it in the following line:
Voicemail: 0/0
Shows no Voice mail but I did leave a voice mail at the extension.
Any suggestion on what I should look for in my * setup. I am not
worried about the 481 coming back for the other side yet. Once I get a
handle on the Notify, I'll work on the 481.

Loud Ringers and paging systems...
Working on a paging system for one of my sites and running into something
I can't believe is this hard. In one of the zones, they want to have three
different extensions ring over the pa system, using it as a loud ringer.
Now the paging system does have a loud ringer built in and I can easily
have it do a simultaneous ring, but all of the extensions will sound the
same over the loud

Really, really loud ringers
Anyone have some recommended equipment for alerting people to calls in a noisy environment?
I have Polycom IP550 phones set up in some really noisy environments - our mine hoists - and they tend to drown out the ringers. I'm using Clarity WR100s now. They're analog devices, attached to Linksys PAP2T ATAs as part of a call group to get a loud (advertised as 95dB) ring out there, but it

one extention, multiple phones
Is it possible to get a few 7960's and asterisk to allow all
of the 7960 phones to use one extentsion and can only be used
by one person at a time, have it indicate on the other 7960's
when one of the others has the line engaged. Basicly so like
I can setup a rule when an incoming call comes from IAX to
divert to this extension, it will ring the extension (thus all
phones), and allow me to

Re: Problem converting a Cisco 7960 to SIP
Hello all,
I've got myself into a bizzare situation that I can't seem to get myself
out of... Was wondering if anyone had some advice that might get me 'over the
hill' on this...
Some background: PBX consists of an Asterisk box (running TrixBox), 4 Cisco
7960's, 2 Polycom IP500's, and now an additional Cisco 7960. The phones are
all on a separate LAN. There is
