Analogue phone w/ TDM400
Hi,
I'm running * 1.2.7.1 on Red Hay 9.0 w/ a TDM 400 2 x FXS, 1 x FXO.
I'm using a VTech cordless that makes three short beeps when someone
another extension is picked up, presumably this lets you know if
someone is trying to listen in..
Everything works, except the VTech now makes the three beeps everytime
you try to use it, even if another extension is in use. It seems as

Echo...
I've spent all day today trying to fix an echo problem and I've made no
ground whatsoever.
I have Digium TDM400 with 3 FXO & 1 FXS. I've tried this computer at
two completely different sites with different phone providers. I've
tried compiling & installing different versions of Zaptel (currently
running 1.4.0, started at 1.2.9 and worked my way up). I've tried

cisco 7960's running 6.3 sip code
latest cvs of *
t100p zaptel card
adit 600 channel bank
7 pots lines and 2 fax machines on the adit 600
dialing out from the cisco phones gets sent out via the zap channels, but
I'm having some serious echo problems. I currently have the adit set to
+3 rxgain and -6 txgain, with my zapata.conf containing:

FW: [Asterisk-Users, Andrew] Will Echo problems EVER be solved, I'm scared
Thank you for the suggestions Andrew. I have not come across some of them
before and will give them a shot. Based on my reading, changing the
motherboard should have minimal impact unless that motherboard and the
TDM400P don't get along (aka. IRQ sharing). I have disabled everything that
is not needed and I do not believe I have any IRQ problems and I am NEVER
wrong ;). Calls are crisp and

WCFXO echo rexolved for me
Hello,
I resolved my echo issue using grandstream/estara etc etc sip phones and
wcfxo interfaces from digium. I swapped out my via kt400 based msi kt4vl
motherboard for an asus p4pe? i845? based motherboard and the echo has
completly gone away along with aggressive suppressor option in the makefile.
I hope this helps others.

Re:Latest Echo changes
Hi,
I've tried the latest CVS Zaptel and Asterisk after following the Echo fix threads. But echo is the same if not worst.
Has anyone managed to alleviate their echo from these latest changes?

Cordless SIP Phones
Can anyone recommend a good cordless user-configurable SIP hardphone that is
readily available in the states and doesn't cost $300? There seem to be a
plethora of decent and affordable corded phones (like from Grandstream) but
the search for a cordless unit seems elusive. I purchased a vtech 8100
online only to discover after receiving it that it is locked to vonage
service.
Thank you.

How can I use my regular phones with Asterisk running on my Linksys WRT54G router?
Ok, I've done some more research and I don't think I want an FXO box...
What I'd like to do is use BroadVoice (with their BYOD plan) and then
run Asterisk on my WRT54G router. I'd also like to use my regular home
phones without having to use a special "SIP" phone... (eg. I like my
Vtech normal cordless phones)
What do I need to buy to get this working? It sounds like I

issue with Digium TDM410P
The TDM410P doesn't support 'hvac', only the obsolete TDM400P supports that
option was for the old phones that have a neon light (or equivalent
LED+ZENER ciruit).
Are other phones off the TDM410P (other than the VTECH) working, or is the
Vtech the only model with VMWI available to you.

echo paid support
I've got echo problems.

I'll accept free support, but don't mind paying if someone really knows
what they are doing.
I've read the wiki, etc.

Agressive echo cancelation
Anyone know if it is possible to control how aggressively the
"Aggressive" mode behaves.
Meaning, is it possible to dial back the aggressive mode to have a happy
medium between
Regular and the Aggressive defaults.
I have a situation where Normal echo cancellation is not quite enough,
however when I turn on aggressive mode

Echo Issue
I know this subjeact has been beaten in here so much, but, here is my

I have run fxotune on the lines, and have got the conf file in my /etc

Questions regarding new echo cancellation features...
I notice the zaptel Makefile option
the mark2 option & KFLAGS+=-DAGGRESSIVE_SUPPRESSOR
is now gone. Does simply adding these options still compile in a certain
echo can - or is there an other method of activating a particular can. I
have not had to update my machine that is connected to pstn for a while & I
don't want to jump into echotraining without a way to quickly enable what

or searching the list now i am stuck .
I have a small * box at my house running 1.0.9 stable and a devlite

multiline, cordless, expandable phone system and asterisk message waiting
Basically, pretty much all the 2 line cordless systems I've seen come with a
built in digital answering system that I'll never use, the main problem with
this is that these units don't support VMWI (visual message waiting
indicator) with telco supplied voicemail. This is a problem because I'll be
setup an Asterisk system in the next month or so to handle my 2 analog and 1

Help! Echo problem even at T1 PRI?
Hello,
We have an asterisk setup at our client's site using a TE205P. The line to
telco is a 23 channels T1 PRI, however the line has random echo problems
(about 5-10% of the calls)!
Can anybody tell me if echo cancellation is really needed even at a T1 PRI
to the telco? Because people keep saying when they deploy voip solution in
Hong Kong using T1 PRI, there is no need of echo cancellation.

Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) for remote voice mail?
I have Asterisk voice mail setup locally. It works great, I'm impressed!
Some details about my system: I'm using a TDM22B card to interface with both
the PSTN and a VOIP provider. I'm running 1.2-beta from CVS.
I have a regular VTech phone plugged into one of the FXS ports.
Asterisk is able to indicate when a local voicemail message is waiting via
the LCD display of my analog phone.

The Phantom Call.. T1 card too
I've had the same thing happen, only on the single port T1 card and a
channel bank, and one of the FXO channels also having a phone attached
elsewhere...
I just wound up putting that channel in a different context and running
Exten => s,1,Hangup
(I'm just using the line for outbound dialing)

echo cancellation: the never-ending quest for truth
Asterisk apparently has five echo cancellation algorithms: STEVE, STEVE2,
MARK, MARK2 and MARK3. The current default appears to be MARK2.
My question is, has anyone had any experience with any of the others
(other than MARK2), and is there some conventional wisdom as to when to
use one over another?
TIA
