Invalid Extensions -- More like traditional PBX systems?
I was wondering if there was a way of setting up the dialplan in a way
that if you dial an extension that is NOT in the dialplan then it would
play a not-in-service gsm file and then play congestion tones. I would
rather like this better than just hearing a busy signal on my phones.. I
DID search around on the wiki and using google and could not find anything.
Thanks.

Question about Do Not Disturb
Hello,
Some of my users have phones lacking a DND button. I need to provide
an extension they can dial that will put them in DND, i.e. tell the
server not to send them any calls until they get off the DND.
I've researched it for almost 3 days now and tried a range of
configurations. I'm hoping somebody here has an answer. Currently, I
have this in extensions.conf

Polycom Do Not Disturb button and asterisk hints
Hi,
Is there ANY way for me to see the status of the Polycom DND buttons in the
Asterisk hints? I`m using the BLF buttons to see the status of other
people`s lines, and DND should logically be somehow reflected (I don`t care
as much about Polycom showing the BLF button as DND, but I do care about
Asterisk hints showing it in the CLI).
Right now, a Polycom phone on DND shows up as being

MWI on Cisco ATA-186 (SIP)
I am trying to set up the Message Waiting Indicator (stutter
tone/light) so that my cisco ata-186 will let my phones know there is a
message waiting. However this does not seem to be very well
documented.
I found this on wiki mailboxnumber@context ... where does that go? Do
I put it in my SIP.conf definition for my cisco ata, or where. In my
SIP cisco definition i already have a

Do Not Disturb?
I looked on the voip-info wiki and found sparse and conflicting information
on how to do this with Asterisk...
My incoming lines are all on Zaptel. Is there a simple why to implement a
'*363" (do not disturb) toggle via the dialplan?
It would be nice to be able to pick up an extension, dial *363, and have all
calls sent to voicemail without ringing the extensions. Doing it again would

Problem with 302 "Moved Temporarily" Do not disturb
I have some Cisco 7905 phones with the SIP load 1.02.00(040406A).
When the phone is off-hook but no call has been placed, or when the Do
Not Disturb is activated, the phone returns a 302 "Moved Temporarily"
message back to asterisk as follows:
-----------
-- Executing Dial("SIP/5060-0811bb00", "SIP/9871234|20|Ttr") in new stack
-- Called 9871234

DID trunks -- equipment requirement
Hi guys,
I posted a somewhat similar question about a month ago and got a
thoughtful resonse from Steven Critchfield, but I've got a quick follow
up question to it.
I'm looking to setup a 16 extension / 10-14 phone line Asterisk install
for a customer who would like to have DID numbers for the extensions,
since they're currently on Centrex and already have the 1-to-1

sidetone noticeably loud on analog handsets on T100P
Hi guys,
I've run into a problem that I can't figure out on a bunch of handsets I
have running into a Rhino Equipment 24-port FXS channel bank hooked up
to a T100P and running asterisk-0.9.0 and the associated stable Zaptel
release.
The sidetone (your own voice that you hear in your handset, built in for
comfort) is noticeably louder than it should be, and it doesn't seem to

Adding DND to dialplan
Hello -
I've read Asterisk should be able to activate a do not disturb feature
to turn off the ringers on extensions. I checked the wiki and can't
find documentation for how to do it.
Here's my attempt, added to extensions.conf:
[dnd-on]
exten => _#78,1,Answer
exten => _#78,n,Wait(1)
exten => _#78,n,Macro(user-callerid,)

Newbie Polycom: DND answered as "on the phone" instead of "not available"
I am using Polycom IP600 phone. If I call a phone which has DND (do not
disturb) enabled, the message to the caller will be "The person on
extension ... is on the phone, please leave a message ...".
Is there a way to pick the "person ... not available" message instead?

Q about IAX (and IAXy)
This is somewhat related to my other query on the list regarding NAT
traversal.
I have heard many times that IAX is "NAT-transperant". I am unsure how
it accomplishes this.
I do know that SIP works like this: your SIP device send a request to
the SIP server (usually on port 5060) with whatever command. The SIP
server respends to your device's "apparent" IP and port (this

how to determine if a SIP extension has DND on or off
I would like to determine through an AGI script if a
specific SIP extension has DND on or off.
I know that if the SIP client dialed *78 or *79 it is
usually enough to just do a:
database show dnd
to fetch the DND status from the database.
However, not all clients dial *78 or *79 (or whichever
feature code is defined for DND).
Some softphones such as SJPhone have a DND button.
When pressed and

Cisco 7960 SIP - DND soft key toggle?
Running the latest * CVS and Cisco 7960G and 7940G phones with SIP 6.3 image.
I have figured out how to turn on the DND feature through the
Settings>Call Preferences>Do Not Disturb - Yes then Save. This puts the
phone into DND On and shows a DND image above the far right soft key which
you use to turn off DND.
There should be a better way. An on/off toggle of the soft key that it

SV: Polycom 501 - Disable DND feature?
Well, yes and no. I tested that before and it causes a silent ring instead of a call rejection. I actually want to disable the entire feature. So the phone always rings unless you're actually on the phone.
Thanks for the reply though!
Regards,
Jan

Asterisk 13 queue and DND phones
Hi,
I've noticed that when I set a phone on DND (phone-side DND, meaning it
rejects calls with a busy status, SIP 486 response code I believe) the
queue keeps on trying the phone over and over again.
This creates issues in terms of CDR entries - in a scenario where there is
only one phone on DND, and a delay between attempts of 1 second, the queue
will attempt to ring the single phone
