Non-kbuild klibc obsoleted
I have now officially obsoleted the non-kbuild version of klibc (yes,
it's way overdue... my work-for-pay hasn't been too kind to me with
time, I'm afraid.)
As a result, I've renamed the klibc-kbuild.git repository klibc.git; the
old one is now klibc-old.git, but I'm not promising that it will be
continued to be maintained going forward.

Down-grading to an "obsoleted" package
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a clean way to "downgrade" to the old rpm
package when it was previously replaced by another that obsolete it?
I mean, say that I have installed some rpm "A-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm", and
along comes "B-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm", whose spec has
Obsoletes: A
Now, if I do "rpm -U B-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm" or "yum install

R GUI API: suggestion for R function to put in there?
Well, following a discussion with Duncan Murdoch, where he suggests me
to rewrite my requests, here it is.
Just a couple of problems I found difficult to solve, as a writer of R
GUIs, and for which I would be very happy to get a R function (plus
rationates):
- To know if an evaluation returns invisibly or not. This is discussed
in a previous thread. We now have withVisible().
- To know if

R-beta: R without graphics
Is there a way to "unplug" the windows graphics from
R, so that it will work across a teletype telnet
session or in a Linux box proving resistant to having
windows added to it?
Thanks

iptables logging
Hi All,
A few years ago I was asked if I could redirect console messages from
Iptables to a different virtual console, on RedHat 7.3 . I managed to
do it, but can't remember how I did it, now that the same question has
arisen ona Centos 3.4 box.
I edited /etc/syslog.conf and redirected kern.* to /dev/tty2 for example
& this didn't work
I edited /etc/sysconfig/syslog and modified

format text help pages Windows
Dear list,
Could someone enlighten me a bit on the
exact format used for text help pages
as I see them on Windows in the help/
folders of (compiled) package roots.
When opening an example of these files
in a text editor (?Bessel in GNU emacs),
the file is displayed as follows:
_^HB_^He_^Hs_^Hs_^He_^Hl_^H _^HF_^Hu_^Hn_^Hc_^Ht_^Hi_^Ho_^Hn_^Hs

DAHDI weather quirk
Hello list,
This may or may not be Asterisk related, but if I had hair I'd
pull it out over this. I have a TDM400P card in a Dell POWEREDGE 1550
running Asterisk 1.4.30. Everything works great except that every time it
rains, I get flooded with this CLI message -
== Starting post polarity CID detection on channel 1
-- Starting simple switch on 'DAHDI/1-1'

Pathfinder Office 2.70 install- Regedit case sensitive?
Due to a number of issues (including needing to run some specialized DOS software in our lab as well as recent stuff), we have decided to check out the possibility of going to Linux in our lab.
I've been testing Linux and Wine. So far, I've found Linux Fedora 10 to be the best for my old (2002 or so) laptop, and I've been trying to get Trimble Pathfinder Office 2.70 running with Wine

Firewall frustration
Well FWbuilder is NOT easy. The documentation does not match the
current GUI. Now the box is locked up. I will have to pull it again,
hook it up to a kybd/VGA and reset iptables....
Maybe Shoreline with webmin....
Problem is I want a REAL router/firewall with little work. Both public
and private nets have routable addresses. No NATing for me! I just
help write the RFC ;) And all the

Sieve seems to break mailbody during automatic redirection
Hi,
I have a strange problem with sieve.
After upgrading to 2.2.13 sieve seems to break the mailbody during automatic redirection.
I have the following configuration.
- User A sends mail to User B.
- User B has an automatic redirect to User C
- User C geht the mailbody broken
I did some debugging.
This is a part of the mailbody which i grabbed from the mailqueue before the mail gets

5.3 on an EeePC??
I have an ASUS EeePC 701 (with 2GB of RAM and an 8 GB card), on
which I've installed CentOS on the hard-drive-plus-card. But it can't
even use my eth0.
Some one on a local LUG, where I had mentioned that other OSs did fine
with all the same exact hardware, suggested that CentOS, being designed
for stability rather than the bleeding edge, likely lacks drivers; so I
need to get
