Can asterisk give half-ring periodically for MWI?
Hi all, Configuration: Analog phone connected to TDM400p. I'd like the phone to give a half-ring (chirp) periodically when there is a message waiting. Can this be done? How is it configured? The visible "Message waiting" indicator and the stutter dial tone are working fine, but are not sufficient for me. Thanks!

passing through MWI info from SBC
Hi.. I am about to replace my aging Nortel Venture system with an Asterisk system and 6 Polycom IP 501 phones, and a couple sipura 841's for less used areas. We have 3 phone lines here. One is SBC, one Vonage, and one Voipjet... One hangup is that I can't figure out how to pass through a voicemail waiting indication from SBC. This is important because my wife and her family all

1.6.1 + TDM840 FSK MWI problem
Hi, Using 1.4.26.1 & DAHDI 2.2.0.2, FSK VMWI devices off a TDM840 work fine. With 1.6.1.[45] & same DAHDI, instead of the FSK spill I get a line polarity reversal. Stutter dialtone is generated as expected. Has anyone else seen this? Is there anything special I need to do for 1.6.1 to make FSK MWI work? Thanks, --Barry

sipura 3000 mwi stutter problem
May be I have fiddled too much with my sipura settings but I can't get it to give the stutter tone when there is a new voice mail waiting on the asterisk box. I can either get a stutter tone all the time or not at all. Anyone got this working. Thanks Chris

Cisco ATA-186 Firmware upgrade
I am currently running 2.16. Is there good reason to get the update to 3.1? Anything significant? Otherwise I am happy how it is, i just don't want to miss out on anything.

UPDATE - Analog Phones with FSK/Stutter MWI
After purchasing the Uniden TRU9480 and then the Panansonic 5672, both of which do not have "phone company" compatible FSK/stutter MWI, I finally got smart and found out just which Panasonic phones have this feature. Only the following 5.8G models in their current line have FXO compatible MWI. I purchased the 5771 unit and one remote. I have confimed it does in fact work with Asterisk

Adtran TA750 MWI problem
I recently set up Asterisk with an Adtran TA750. All is well except the phones do not show the MWI. I have configured zapata.conf properly, as all phones will receive a stutter dial tone if there is a message waiting in it's assigned mailbox. Does anybody know how I might fix this problem? Background Playback fails
Hi Guys. I've had a lay off from Asterisk for 12 months but I am starting to look into it again. I am not very Linux savvy and found it hard going the last time. I've started playing with it in the last 3 weeks and I have to admit to making more head way this time. The first problem I'm stuck on and I cant find a solution to is that sound files that I have recorded (be it by

Stutter Tone
I think I have something misconfigured regarding voicemails. They work great, I have this setup: Sip.conf [ext1] Context=phones Mailbox=201 Voicemail.conf [home] 201,password,name,email@mail Voicemail delivery and all works great but when I check sip extension ext1 (analog phone using a Granstream ATA 286), the stutter tone signaling message waiting does not work. Anything wrong with

Newbie - MWI
Sorry for the partial post a moment ago With help I got two phones communicating - PCMA/PCMU was the problem. Next stpe is to try voicemail. VM works fine, I can leave a mesage and then retrieve it - but no MWI on the phone and no stutter dialtone. I promise I've spent the requisite 4 hours + on google etc. but have really no further ideas. The setup is 2 Grandstream phones (latest

Adding an app
I am in the process of testing out the Cisco ATA 186 to provide analog phone service via VoIP for some of our remote users. I have that working fine and well, but am struggling with another aspect. We already have a large centralized voicemail system, which I would like to use for these users. I can get the call to roll to new the centralized voicemail no problem, but I'd like to provide

MWI - Config Stupidity or Notify Issues?
I am having a problem with the message waiting indicator. We are currently using the ast_data modules for both our sip configuration and our voicemail configuration. In the mailbox field I have tried using both mailboxnumber@context and simply mailboxnumber. Yet so far I am still not getting a MWI on my 7905's or on my 7960's. My assumption would be that I am still missing something,

Placing a MWI on-off call...
My grateful thanks to whoever can guide me in implementing this... I have a need to place calls via Asterisk Manager Protocol to a legacy PBX and twiddle its MWI lights. By some means I get notified that an MWI light has to be changed. Via AMP: 1. Send an ORIGINATE command honking up an incoming port on the PBX via a TA804. a. I presume that the TA804 should be a SIP channel. yes/no? b.

MWI question
Using a TE410P with Zhone 24FXS channel banks to power standard analog phones I can't seem to find out if it's possible to support FSK or voltage type message waiting lamps. I don't want to use stutter dial tone because of the dramatic difference in per phone cost. TIA

Re: Adding an app (Steven Critchfield)
Thanks for the help. I was able to get my application to load with Asterisk, now I just need to get it to work. After reading your comment, I don't know that I fully understand what's going on as far as the channels and extensions. Are you saying that the MWI is tied to the channel? If that is the case, then for my SIP phones, would the channel be (SIP/XXXX)? If it should be, then
