NetworkWorld article on Open Source Telephon y
I agree, any platform suffers when it is extremely difficult to implement.
What we need is an interface that does everything we need and shows what
asterisk is capable of, a lot of features will go unused because you might
not know the exist unless you hunt them down in the source or conf files.
I trained on an Avaya INDeX switch it had a complex console but was laid out

7960 straight through?
if i go off hook and dial 666 from an internal sipura spa-x000
(at extn 141), it rings straight through to extn 666.
using the same dialplan, from a cisco 7960 with 7.1 sip code
(at extn 142), i have to
go off hook
hit NewCall
punch 142 (or any valid extn in the dialplan)
hit Dial
then dial 666
wtf?

escape block using red cloth
Hi all,
Is it possible to configure red cloth to escape a block such as:
------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello, _this_ works *beautifull*
def foo
bar
end
------------------------------------------------------------------
The text in the
block should not be parsed by Red Cloth''s to_html
method.

Count the number of occurences in ranges
I got a vector of probabilities like,
probs<-c(0.001,0.5,0.02,1,.....)
Is there any nice and easy builtin function to get the number of
occurences within some specified probabality range.
Like with 2% it would be
occur[1] = sum(probs[probs>0&probs<0.02])
occur[2] = sum(probs[probs>0.02&probs<0.04])
...
occur[50] =sum(probs[probs>0.09] & probs<1)

choose.files limit?
Howdy,
When I use the choose.files command to read files a large number of file
names to a character vector inside a function, used to access these files
one after the other, there appears to be a limit. I do not know whether it
is arbitrary, but in this case the limit was 991 files. The file names are
long. Does that matter? The error message that appears says that it cannot
find file #992

asterisk router
Looking for a router to connect to a 5/50 cable modem that works with
Sip. A Crisco RVS4000
installed now has real problems with Sip, one-way audio and throughput
not up to the WAN speed.
No VPN needed, something affordable, $200-$350 US range. Every thing I
looked at in that range had
some reported problem except pfSense in a ATX box. Any recommendations
or comments appreciated.

Strange Sip problem?
Hi.
I'm getting a strange sip issue, with
latest cvs. I was tring the *8 extension
for call pickup on sip, but I forget
to define the callgroup & pickupgroup
in sip.conf . Now when I dial *8 from
the crisco phone and hangup, the channel
in asterisk don't go down and I'm not able
to dial from the phone again.
If I do a softhangup on the rem. console
it does nothing and the

public-key ?
Hi,
I'm not a crypto expert, so after reading this interview with Bruce Schneier
( http://www.securityfocus.com/columnists/324 ) I'm wondering if OpenSSH has
the same problem he talks about, that is one public-key algorithm.
Doesn't OpenSSH use RSA, DSA, and DH ?
Also, is there any plan to include those new NSA standards based on ECC ?

Shaping incoming traffic?
I would like to differentiate incoming traffic streams to guarantee
minimum bandwidth to some services. However, as per the
Adv-Routing-HOWTO it appears that only outgoing traffic can be shaped.
Is this correct or is there a way of shaping incoming traffic?
The problem could possibly be overcome if there is a way of routing
traffic through a virtual host. Any tips on how to go about that?

It's a new word :)
I'm just making ices be able to reencode its playlist at multiple
bitrates at the same time, so you can broadcast the same stream for
broadband and POTS users.
I've already got this working (and I've been listening to it for about
an hour and a half so far), but I'm not

XCP Management Tools Inquiry
XCP Users:
As many of you are aware, there are several open source products available for everyone to use when working with XCP. I would like to get some feedback on the various tools to get a feeling on how people are using XCP and these tools.
Here are the tools that I am aware of (please respond if you are using another tool):

Web inteface for uploading?
I was wondering if there is a web interface out there for
uploading and downloading from samba shares? I found the
SMB2WWW but it at the moment does not support upload nor
does it seem very secure. I would like something that
requires authentication. Has anyone done this or is it
even possible yet?

driver on eth1. However, the inteface doesn't come up.
Google doesn't find anything recent about using Linux with Broadcom
