Important: The Asterisk Bug Tracker
Okay fellow Asterisk users... Listen up (or perhaps more appropriately,
"read down").
The Asterisk community is growing at a remarkable pace. I know there are
thousands of you out there -- in fact there are over eight *thousand*
subscribers to asterisk-users alone, and almost one *thousand* registered
users on the bug tracker. The #asterisk IRC channel is consistently in

*End Of Life ASTERISK 1.2.X Was: INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ASTERISK COMMUNITY - PLEASEREAD NOW *
Rather hasty I think. I think whatever version 1.2.X winds up on should
be the most stable release of Asterisk, period.
Thanks,

Outline For Asterisk Book - Please Review & Comment
Asterisk Users
In an attempt to help Asterisk move forward, a number of us have decided
to create a book. It would initially be released as an "ebook" that
could be sent to newbies to help them up the rather steep learning
curve. Ultimately I would like to see it published and sold in
bookstores (preferably by O'Reilly & Co.).
Below is the outline for the book. We REALLY

New to IP-PBX
Hi,
I'd really appreciate it if you can explain this to me.
I have a D/41JCT-LS Dialogic board and I want to use it as an IP-PBX.
I'm new to IP Telephony and telephony and general and I researched a lot
but still confused about what I really need.
I know that I can setup an IP-Telephony for my LAN using a SIP server
and SIP compatible software phones. But the challenge is how can I

Asterisk Jobs
I'm curious why the number of jobs out there requiring Asterisk seems to be pretty low. After looking around dice, monster, careerbuilder etc, I was surprised to find no more than 3-4 employment opportunities with Asterisk throughout the US.
Is it really that low? There seems to be a job of opportunities for Cisco and other vendors solutions (duh... GUI's are good... duh). I wonder if

have been looking around to implement a solution with asterisk that has
many of the nice features of a proprietary PBX for a small office. The
features that I am looking for that I haven't been able to find any

IP Phone recommendations?
Hey gang,
I'm looking at escaping from a Nortel Meridian CISC system to
Asterisk/Digium/SIP phones. I'm currently in the testing and proof of
concept phase. I'm going to need a SIP phone and don't want to
re-purchase and have "orphans" around.
We currently run Nortel 7310 phones and they work great.
I'm sort of overwhelmed by all of the different IP phones. I

Friday 11th: Aswath Rao: "Trapezoidal VoIP is Evil" on VoIP Users Conference at Noon EDT
Hi,
We're pleased have a 25-year telephony veteran with us tomorrow,
Aswath Rao. Aswath maintains that "Trapezoidal VoIP is Evil".
Join us and ask questions, make comments, argue about geeky details...
and maybe win a Gigaset S675IP SIP/DECT g722-capable phone with an
additional handset. Those of us who have these phones like them a lot.
All dial in info is here: http://VUC.me -

Intel 537ep
Owias,
The 537 is, for the most part, a drop-in replacement for the Digium card. Please search the archive and the Wiki, as there have recently been several discussions about this exact subject.
To my knowledge that is about the only modem that works, but keep in mind it is _not_ supported. That being said, follow the instructions on Digium's site for installing the X100P and you should be

GitHub anyone?
Folks,
There has been some discussion on IRC about SVN hosting and the perils
of doing it ourselves. The consensus on the current discussion was
that moving to a Git-only solution would have some disvantages, but
many advantages. Furthermore, not hosting our own repos would save us
a lot of headaches, admin costs and timed out connections.
TL;DR: GitHub + git submodules [1] could replace all the
