Bandwidth measurement tool: bmtools
This is not specifically on-topic for Asterisk, but I have found on
many occasions while working with Asterisk that it would have been
very handy to be able to measure, with some precision, the bandwidth
being used by a particular host, port, or combination of the two.
So, I went searching for various tools, none of which were what I
wanted. They either were too clever, or too limited in

IAX2 trunking: codec bandwidth comparison notes and results
2003-06-28 Bandwidth Study - John Todd (jtodd @loligo.com)

To obtain a better chart of actual bandwidth usage per codec as

telephony servers.

Past threads on the asterisk-dev and asterisk-users lists have

GSM v iLBC for low bandwidth connections
Hi All,
I've been playing with GSM and iLBC over low bandwidth connections
(central Asterisk box with 2mbps, to ADSL users on 512/256) and both
seem to perform well. Based upon what I've read in the archives and
at voip-info.org iLBC should perform a little better if packets are
lost, than compared to GSM. Do you find this to be true in practice,
or is GSM just as robust?

MRTG with 14all.cgi on centos 5
Hi,
I have setup MRTG with 14all.cgi cgi script.
I downloaded it from below URL.
http://my14all.sourceforge.net/14all-1.1.txt
and did only below 3 changes to that file. those can be seen in BOLDletters.
# if MRTG_lib.pm (from mrtg) is not in the module search path (@INC)
# uncomment the following line and change the path appropriatly:
#use lib qw(/usr/local/mrtg-2/lib/mrtg2);

Difference between snmp traffic rate, and rate from tc
Hello,
I use rrdtool to graph the traffic in the different classes on an
interface, eth1. Basically, I use the output from
tc -s qdisc ls dev eth1
my tc script (which is only for testing the graphing) looks like this:
/sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 20 r2q 1
/sbin/tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 200kbit burst 15k
/sbin/tc class add dev eth1 parent

MRTG + Samba
Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has pointers for graphing data from Samba using
MRTG. I already have MRTG graphing things like signal strength (cisco
aironet pci), total kbps in/out each interface, mem and disk i/o usage.
I'd like to graph, for example, average number connections over time; or
maybe logins per hour .... or failed logins per hour.
I know MRTG's requirements for input

mrtg monitoring shaped traffic
Dave,
In a post to LARTC on 18 Sep 06 you said "I run MRTG on all outbound
traffic".
I''m a newbie with respect to mrtg. I have rrdtool and mrtg built on my
Linux box but I have no SNMP so "nothing works".
Could you please provide basic instructions for implementing mrtg with
respect to traffic shaping?
What is needed? Net-SNMP? OpenSNMP? If yes, what is SNMP used

Traffic Control Diagnostic Graphing Utility
I wrote a Perl script to poll `tc` for traffic control statistics (just bytes
presently) for leaf qdiscs. The information is fed to either RRDTool or
Munin[2], depending on what parameter is passed to the script. If the option
for a RRD database is used, graphs[3][4] are written to disk for each ten
second polling interval. If invoked via Munin[2], it handles graphing and
samples at five

A logging/graphing UPS client using rrdtool and UPS::Nut
I finally got around to writing myself a NUT UPS monitoring tool. NUT's
UPS monitoring CGI tools provide a detailed instantaneous view of the
UPS's state at any moment, but provide no history. The attached tool,
upswatch, uses Kiss Gabor's UPS::Nut module and Tobi Oetiker's rrdtool
to provide a graphical history of the major UPS operating parameters via
a web browser.

yum priorities and obsoleting...
Hey,
I ran into a yum conflict regarding an repoforge extra package obsoleting a base package.
The thing is that I set a lower priority to repoforge extra...
Any idea how come I ran into this issue...?
The question is more about the yum priorities than repoforge.

can't install rrdtool, problems with dependancies
Hi all,
I have tried to install rrdtool manually, but have noticed that I need
perl-rrdtool as well for it to work, and I have approached this the
wrong way.
So, instead of installing rpmforge first, I have downloaded the
rrdtool from sourceforge and installed it the old-fashioned way,
totally forgot about rpmforge.
So, now I want to remove it, and install it via rpmforge in order to
get

Depends on what data you want to use for that scope. ATM the only usefull data I can see in the source file (/admin/stats.xml) would be number of listeners. If you know about the bitrate of the stream you

parsing icecast 1 and icecast2 logs in GUI web format
Eisele,
Would you mind sharing with myself and other what you did to get this
running? I am very familiar with webalizer, but perhaps others are not
so.
I'd be curious to see your scripts for getting it to work with MRTG
seeing as how I use that often as well.
Thanks.

[Bridge] Packet per Second
Hi all,
It's my first time using usenet...
Well, I work on an ISP and we have a linux box acting as a
bridge+firewall. With this bridge+firewall we control the packet rate
per second from each client and from our repeaters. But I can`t
measure the packet rate per IP. Is there any tool for this?
Actually, what I want is to measure the packet rate per IP and
generate graphics with mrtg or
