best low-bandwidth strategy
Hi, To push voice through a long thin wan (dsl) there are two choices: (1) have the cisco's (7912G) talk g729a to each other (reinvite=yes), or (2) have the cisco's talk to their local * in ulaw (reinvite=no), which talk to each other through a more advanced low-bandwidth codec (ilbc or speex) which is best? (2) would have more latency, wouldn't it? Did I miss a third option?

Speex or iLBC?
Hi kind developers, I need select soon the best freeware VOIP codec, I see that all competitors are using iLBC because of the separate packets management. How speex behave in case of packets drop? Why other choice all iLBC? Thank you for any kind answer. Best regards. ------------------------------------- Roberto Della Pasqua Http: www.dellapasqua.com Email/Msn: roberto@dellapasqua.com

speex, ilbc and g729 codecs, GSM with IAX
Dears; I do not know if any had experience in using speex or ilbc with IAX and got good results, because I am facing a problem with GSM. I am facing a noise problem when I am using GSM with IAX trunk as following: IP Phone (G711) ---> Local Asterisk Box ---> IAX Trunk using GSM codec ---> Remote Asterisk Box ---> Digium Card (FXO) to terminate the call to the destination While no

super high bandwidth codec
I've just gotten off a skype conference call and it pisses me off that the quality of skype is higher than my asterisk calls. Is there such a thing as a super high bandwidth codec? In a situation that you have the bandwidth to share is there something that I can use for important calls when the situation warrants it? TIA, Dean -------------- next part -------------- An

iLBC re-licence
Does anybody know if the updated licence on iLBC makes it safe to include in Asterisk when used in a commercial environment again? https://sites.google.com/site/webrtc/ilbc-freeware It seems to require that the Google iLBC licence document is on the box, but that otherwise it is free-to use by all in any way (BSD licence style). I believe that prior to that there was a requirement to register

GSM to iLBC one way audio :-(
Hi, I'm using IAXphone for remote users which limits me to the GSM codec. Internally I limit the SIP phones to iLBC codec (GS 101 1.0.5.0) I also use voiptalk.org for external PSTN access again using the iLBC codec. The problem I have is that when the IAXphone dials an internal phone or PSTN number either the line hangs up immediately or there is only one way audio from IAXphone. It works

iLBC issue: An ilbc frame that isn't a multiple of 50 bytes long from RTP (38)
Hello all, I've started implementing iLBC on some of the ATAs we have floating around clients' homes, but I'm coming against this error message with most of them: codec_ilbc.c: Huh? An ilbc frame that isn't a multiple of 50 bytes long from RTP (38)? The ATAs in question are various Grandstream models - the HT486 being the predominant one. Looking at the list archives, it's

Will there be any support for iLBC in IAXClients soon?
Hello Folks, I noticed that all of the IaxClient based softphones with exception of Firefly only seem to have support for GSM but what about iLBC? The quality is excellent with iLBC even on a dialup connection! Meanwhile while the audio on GSM often sounds scratchy. Is anyone looking to implement iLBC in an IaxClient based softphone soon? I already have ilbc installed on my system.
