I have recently deployed a number of CentOS-3.4 boxes and I am seeing problems with rpm database apparent corruption. db4 errors like DB_PAGE_NOTFOUND. I have found that using LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 seems to fix the problem but I can''t find much info on why or if doing that is good or bad. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but on a number of CentOS-3 boxes I had a problem when you log out from X/Gnome it would take ages (> 1 min) to log out. Saving the session made it quicker for the next logout, but the culprit appears to be the rhn-applet. Uninstall that rpm and problem solved. The simple glut app below demonstrates a problem i'm seeing here. It fails to get a title bar, window frame or any other wm decorations.
