Discrimination of almost-random time series
Dear time-series specialist:
I've got some time series representing measurements from a physical
process, like atomic decay data. These time series look almost
random, but should hopefully be distinguishable as they were taken
under different conditions.
I am looking for statistical approaches that are sensitive enough to
discriminate between such series of measurements. Preferably, there

People detected as fax machines
A caller to me was this afternoon detected as a fax machine:
Jan 15 15:31:17 NOTICE[41997]: File chan_zap.c, Line 3564 (zt_read): Fax
detected, but no fax extension
... and then redirected to voicemail. An extract from extensions.conf is
attached below. Is there any way to stop * even considering an incoming
call on a line as a fax call?

fax detection: false positive
Hi guys,
I just moved from Asterisk release 0.5.0 to CVS 2003-12-22, and after
overcoming a few changes in my configuration, I encountered one problem
that I couldn't shake that was working fine in 0.5.0.
It's the fax detection. I just have a simple extension setup like this:
exten => fax,1,Dial(Zap/4,30,tr)
exten => fax,2,Hangup
in my main incoming context. This used to

POTS - Incoming Voice or Fax - How to tell?
Hi Folks -
This may sound weird - but here goes:
I live in Japan and on my home POTS line I have a Fax/Phone machine.
If I receive a fax, the thing automatically switches to 'fax mode' and
prints the fax.
If the call is a 'voice call', it sits there & rings until answered.
The above is very reliable and works okay.
Of course signalling differs in each country (and even by

Discrimination and calibration of Cox model
I have been working on fitting Cox model for prediction by using rms package.
I want to measure model's calibartion and discrimination. Discrimination was
measured by using validate() in rms, Dxy can be transferred to Harrell's c
index. But in this way, I cannot get 95%CI of c index. How can I do this in
R? And by the way, what value should be in c index to present the model's
well?

Questions about use of multinomial for discrimination.
Dear All,
I am looking at discriminating among several individuals based on a few
variable sets (I think some variables do not make sense unless they are
entered together, so I "force" them into the models together, hence
datasets). I have done so with linear discriminant analysis (LDA) using
"MASS::lda", with acceptable results. However, one of my collaborators

Binary kernel discrimination
Hello,
Could you tell me if a package exists to perform a binary kernel discrimination using a training set compose of molecules represented by binary fingerprint. This method was first described by Harper in J. Chem. Inf. Comput. Sci 2001 41 1295 and is also described in recent papers published in the same journal by Hert Jerome. I have attached the page describing the BKD method used in the

Logistic Discrimination Analysis
I've got a sample set of variables x1,...xn and a factor f that classifies
each sample to belong to either group 0 or 1.
If I build a model with
m1<-glm(f~. , family=binomial(link="logit"),data=frame);
pv<-as.vector(predict(m1))
prob<-plogis(pv)
does then "prob" predict the probability of a sample to belong to group 1?
Is this equivalent to logistic

Discrimination vs. Calibration for newbies?
Hi there,
I can't seem to wrap my head around the differences between discrimination
and calibration. I think that I learn best by examples. Could someone
provide me with detailed explanations using examples of when a model could
do both well, both poorly, and one well and the other poorly?
Thanks!

logistic discrimination: which chance performance??
Hello,
I am using logistic discriminant analysis to check whether a known
classification Yobs can be predicted by few continuous variables X.
What I do is to predict class probabilities with multinom() in nnet(),
obtaining a predicted classification Ypred and then compute the percentage
P(obs) of objects classified the same in Yobs and Ypred.
My problem now is to figure out whether P(obs) is

deliver LDA status?
Hello dovecot,
wiki mentions `deliver', but it doesn't include into 1.0.beta8 dovecot distribution. It can be downlaoded from CVS, and even contains two tags on files, that seems to eb release tags :)
But what is official status of `deliver' tool? Is it stable, or experemental, or what? Are here any plans when it will be packaged ad announced?

discriminate analysis
Dear List,
I'd like to run a discriminate analysis on a data set, but have no idea
how to go about this in R. I have attempted to locate info in the manuals,
but may not be consulting the right sections or documents.
Can anyone point me to appropriate documentation if such exists.
Many thanks,

BLOCKING incoming FAXES on voice line.
At time to time somebody is trying "their luck" and send me most likely
a junk fax on my voice line. During normal working hours is not a
problem I just pickup the line and hangup the call but after-hours my
voice mailbox is intercepting the call and recording those
"beeps" (waisting my CPU cycles).
Is there a way to block call / issue hangup command if the incoming call

Incoming phone line rollover / hunt?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi All,
I have a simple question about incoming phone line rollovers. How are
these usually done? Is this done at the phone company usually, or is
this something that Asterisk or channel bank is capable of? I just need
someone to give me a brief explanation how it usually works, and if
someone was implementing an Asterisk system, how they would go

how to discriminate pointers in calling conventions
I have a target whose calling conventions specify that pointer-typed arguments are passed in different registers than same-sized integers. It appears that in the SelectionDAGBuilder, arguments/formals with pointer type are lowered to the corresponding integer MVT (via this path:

llvm::ComputeValueVTs

Discriminating between two incoming lines?
It seems like I've seen how to do this, but so far my archives search
has come up dry.
I have two X100Ps working with a single instance of asterisk, and I want
to do different things with incoming calls depending on which line has
rung in.
Could someone provide me with a quick pointer?
Thx.

Fax handled on E&M T1 DEBUG messages
Hello,
I updated my test Asterisk box to CVS 01/12/2004 today and have seen the fax
detected messages coming for every call that comes in over my E&M T1[B8ZS
ESF]. This isn't a problem from a functionality standpoint(I have no fax
devices), but I see these two lines show up in the DEBUG logs about every
second of a live incoming call:

Asterisk hanging?
Hi,
I compiled and am running the latest CVS but strange things are now happening..
it looks like asterisk is randomly declaring my calls to be fax calls,
complaining and then sending the calls into a black hole... if I hangup the
calls below (soft hangup) asterisk locks up and I have to kill the process.

Detect incoming fax on PSTN and route to fax machine on DADHI extension?
I'm running an AsteriskNow V1.7.1 with both a PSTN connection and fax
machine. Both are connected to a DAHDI board. I'd like to route
incoming PSTN fax calls to the extension of the fax machine and process
non-fax calls through different dialplan.logic.
What's the best way to go about doing this? I've looked into Fax for
Asterisk, bit I'm not sure that I want it or NVFax
