MonkeyShell: using XML-RPC for access to a remote shell
Security pundits have been warning about the dangers implicit with Web services for years. A good starting point for understanding the security issues related to Web services can be found at: http://searchwebservices.techtarget.com/originalContent/0,289142,sid26_gci872720,00.html Of course to really understand the security risks posed by Web services, you need to understand the basics of Web

The Wrong Choice: Locked in by license restrictions

NUT Christmas mail
Dear NUT users and developers, Like the other years, before taking a small rest, here are some news related to NUT. * First, you should have seen the 2.0.5-pre1 release announcement. I don't think 2.0.5 is very far, but I realized that I've made an archive including the .svn directory (bad, bad me. I should know that release are made against exported svn, not checked out!) * Next,

Have they modified/added new features to the core CIFS, RPC, etc. protocols to support some of those features, perhaps in the DFS or other areas? 2. In terms of CIFS, they claim outstanding

Linux Redhat 4.0/3.0.3 makewhatis cron job
There is a serious problem with the makewhatis cronjob under Redhat Linux 4.0/3.0.3. You can use it to overwrite any file on the system. Redhat is aware of the problem, and said they would have some kind of fix by next week which should be plenty of time before this bug is exploitable again. #!/bin/sh # # blowitawaysam # # makewhatis is a shellscript that stores a tmp copy of the whatis #

RE: Delegation of authentication (S4U) and SAMBA
Hello, Does samba support the use of S4U? What do we need to configure in SAMBA or krb5 to support getting a ticket obtained by S4U. We are using 3.0.25 and krb5-1.4.1 We are getting the following error: decode_pac_data: Name in PAC [username@something1.something2.realmname] does not match principal name in ticket The ticket could be different than the PAC name because the

Dovecot 2.3.6 on Solaris10: build issues, segfaults
Looking further into this segfault at settings-parser.c:setting_copy():1519 *dest_size = *src_size; *src_size points to type size_t (typedef unsigned long), a 4-byte aligned value consistent with a 32-bit build. This is mismatched with declared type (gdb) whatis src_size type = const uoff_t * (gdb) whatis uoff_t type = unsigned long long (gdb) p sizeof(uoff_t) $1 = 8 resulting

source level debugging with WineLib?
Hello, We just started using WineLib, and have very basic question: which -g??? option do you use to do source level debugging with winedbg? I searched the documentation and mailing list for any step-by-step about this, but found nothing. So either the answer is so obvious that I just can't see it - or it doesn't work? By default, winemaker seems configure things for no debug - so
