RTP routing..
Here is a question for all you routing guru's out there..
I am using an ADSL line (512/256Kbps) to connect from the internet to my
Asterisk server.. At a point I will run out of bandwidth so the cheapest
option would be to add a second ADSL line..
The problem is how will the routing work?
If I put 2 IP's on one NIC will the return traffice be routed back via
the gatway of the IP that

FYI: Simple Small Asterisk install..
Hi,
If anyone is looking for a small Asterisk installation I have managed to
get it down to 296MB (If you remove the kernel source code.. could
probably be made smaller if some of the devel packages and asterisk
source is removed as well.)
To do it I used Trustix Secure Linux 2.0 (http://www.trustix.net), did a
minimum install with ssh support(92MB) and then added the required
packages

"make check" on ArchLinux: "This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU"
I'm updating the ArchLinux libguestfs package to 1.12.7, but the "make check" tests fail in qemu with:
Booting from ROM...
This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.
How does qemu detect the CPU type? I'm running a 64-bit ArchLinux (without KVM) on an Intel Xeon E5420 processor. I'm

Compile problems
Hello All,
I am trying to compile Asterisk under RedHat 8. I downloaded (checked
out) the sources from CVS as described on the Asterisk download page.
When I start to compile Zaptel, soon after compilation starts, it errors
out. As far as I know I have all the OpenSSL and readline and kernal
development stuff installed. I usually do a "install everything" when I
install RH Linux on a

Installed Kernal (default)
Is there a description or statement that describes the stock kernal in
CentOS, and would give all the various modules it is compiled with? As
with BSD, I assume there are things in the kernal that are mandatory,
and then there are things that are optional or included so as to catch
most everything one could have w/r/t hardware. That being the case, as
with FreeBSD, removing those unneded

Installing packages
Hello,
I have upgraded from Mandrake Linux 8.0 to Mandrake 8.1 and try to reinstall
my favourite R... Everything is OK for the base software but I have trouble
to get some packages installed.
Specifically, for some packages, a "collect2" binary seems to be necessary
during the compilation/linking process of the library, and LD complains about
not finding it :

[PATCH] customize: Use setarch when running commands on i686 guest (RHBZ#1256405).
When running (eg) dnf on a 32 bit i686 guest when the host is 64 bit
x86_64, dnf believes it is running on a 64 bit machine and so tries to
install x86_64 packages. We can 'trick' dnf into believing it's a 32
bit machine using the setarch program.

Asterisk & Recommended Distro
I am trying to run asterisk on Trustix 2.1 w/updates. Has anyone had any
troubles related to zaptel hardware like sporadic errors when trying to
dial out? Also, what is the consensus for the best Linux distribution to
run asterisk on? Trustix seems like a nice choice but I would like to
hear the recommendations. Thank you for your help.

Samba Won't Work
I tried to get Samba running on my new Trustix installation all day
yesterday with no luck. I'm a newbie, so there's a lot I don't know yet.
At any rate, I have the Smb, nmbd, and smbd services running. I've got my
smb.conf file set up properly from what I can tell. When I try the following
command on my Linux box:
smbclient //192.168.1.102/backup -U jesse
I get the error,

[fdo] Linux with Graphics and Sound
Hello Linus Torvalds, Paul Davis,
The state of most desktop and office applications under Linux seem quite
healthy. People are working hard making the Linux desktop work. Yet, I
am very sorry, but I cannot describe the deployment and maintaince of 3D
graphics and sound API's as well as drivers as anything other than woeful.
My hope is an enviroment where both open-source and commcial

XP SP1 Clients wont print to Samba / Cups Server
Hi All,
I have gained my basic Linux / Samba knowledge from
using SME server (www.contribs.org)
More recently I have started to use Trustix Linux to
build servers for specific things for example as a
print server.
I installed Trustix and the most recent Cups/Samba rpm's
from the repository (I am pretty sure they are the latest
stable releases) but I can check version numbers if this
helps.
