My Boss wants background music!!!!
Dear Members, I am searching for a new PBX for the company. My choice is Astrisk. My Boss wants background music via all the telephones. This is done in a conventional PBX that he wants, but I can use the Asterisk PBX if it can do this also. As I said he needs background music on every telephone this is not to be mistaken with music on hold. The bit stream is an MP3 file of 8 Kbs. At the server

Playback over Console
I'm trying to setup a primitive announcement-paging system in my house using the line-out from my * box to a cheap amplifier that runs to speakers on our first and second floors from the basement. I have a extension that connects to Console, and console is set to auto-pickup. I'm using alsa drivers. This all works great, except for one thing. I want to play a tone over the console after

Overhead Paging Systems...
Hey all, I know you all saw the topic and let out a groan. However, I understand how to get an overhead paging system to work with respect *, however I am now looking for a small(?) paging amp, that I could hook 3 or 4 horns to. I would like to just have the * extention be routed to a soundcard and out an output, so I would like an amp that is voice signal activated. Has anyone found anything

ip phones and intercom/paging
There was a thread a few months ago that tossed around some ideas for using a cisco phone for intercom or paging. I don't have any ip phones, and wondered if anyone had any luck getting intercom or paging to work on the cisco units. Do any of the (cheaper) ip phones have a way to support intercom or paging? I presume that it's not part of the SIP or IAX protocols. Chris.

GSM modems
Hi all, I am interested in interfacing a GSM modem to *. I've seen a few comments about doing this, but I'm not clear whether people have actually made it work. I've used GSM modems for various data jobs, mostly high volume SMS (no, not nasty marketing stuff - high volume solicited SMS :-) ) . These only have analogue ports for voice. Does anyone know of units with digital voice

Doorphone vs. Grandstream BT101
I've done all the googling I can on this, and have come to the conclusion that a Grandstream BT101 can be abused to be a door phone. Could someone with access to one, confirm that the following is possible? Researched: 1. When set to auto-answer, dialing the phone will result in a short beep and instant speaker-phone connection. 2. When pressing the "message" button while

Re: Paging using multiple sound cards
Why *wouldn't* I bother? Using $5-$10 sound cards would be a much cheaper, professional, and more permanent solution than having a couple hacked phones laying near the PA system. Just trying to keep the setup clutter and problem free, as well as as cheap as possible. I'm not a developer, but I don't think it'd be too much of a pain to program the console channel driver to provide

Paging unit suggestions
We currently have an Asterisk system that is hooked up to our old paging speakers via sound card, plugged into two amps. Each amp drives up to 8 analog speakers in each warehouse (we have 2). Both warehouses are around 30k square feet. Both have a large number of printing presses. The computer system is that is running Asterisk is around 10 years old and starting to fail. I'm looking to

Cisco 7940 Phones as paging system?
Hi all; I have been searching for an answer to a question that a customer asked me and I have only found a few older answers. So, wanting to find out if anyone has any experience with this issue and can help provide me with some advice. I have a customer which is strongly interested in using Asterisk as a PBX. One of the core requirements, however, is that the system MUST be able to

Paging and Intercom using Sipura SPA-841
I want to implement a one way announcement and paging facility using Asterisk and Sipura phones. The wiki says Sipura phones only support Auto Answer using the Call-Info header which is no lone shipped with asterisk stable since 1.0.4. I would like to ask if anyone has implemented a similiar facility using Sipura SPA-841 or any other SIP phones. If I could take a look at how

paging agi
Hello Everyone, I've been playing with an agi script for paging sip phones. page.agi will take all available sip extensions and assign them to the global variable PAGE_GROUP. Allowing the phones to be paged from the dialplan with the new Page cmd. Extensions to be excluded are presented as arguments to the agi. Each time a page is made this agi refreshes the global variable. This works with

Polycom DND + Intercom/Paging Override?
Greetings- As many of your are Polycom "experienced", I was hoping some kind soul could provide direction on a specific issue. On a system running Asterisk 11.11.0 (and latest FreePBX), I'm finding an instance where, using intercom/paging functionality of FreePBX, I need to override an end user's 'Do Not Disturb' selection on the handset. By default, DND simply

Intercom & Paging with Polycoms
I've been able to page to a specific phone (intercom type of thing), but I'd like to have a macro or agi that pages all phones but first checks if their on the phone. It looked like there used to be a pageall.agi type of script on the wiki, but that link isn't valid anymore. Does anyone have that script, or something else that would work? I would just do SIP/1000&SIP/1001, but
