Re: 911 and lawsuits and redundancy
Hi, Most companies we work with, have 'designated' crisis management teams. These vary from the insignificant crisis', through to life-threatening crisis'. There is always an assigned emergency services contact, whose job it is in an emergency, to maintain communication with the emergency services. One of our corporate functions is crisis management - so we have to consider

Re: 911 and lawsuits and redundancy
Well, to do an upgrade on a traditional system you have the same issues, perhaps even worse as everything is physically wired to one system. To develop for production you must have a dev environment, a beta test and a scheduled release right? Verizon-Vonage Lawsuit
May be slightly off topic, but I was wondering what everyone thinks of this latest ruling against Vonage? Does anyone really know what Verizon hold patents for, and could those patents possible affect anything in Asterisk? Who knows who Verizon will go after next. SCO & R
I apologize if this has been addressed before; recently I read an article in Forbes which discussed how SCO was going after companies that have been using Linux. The article made the point that the ideas behind GPL are under attack precisely because no one is making sure that the code being put into the freely avail. packages isn't owned by someone else. Here's my question: Is R

Fax-to-Email - Legal Issues
Hello everyone, Some months ago there were news about J2 filing lawsuits against companies using fax-to-email technology, as they claimed it was their patent. They had also won some cases, until someone filed a counter lawsuit against them based some other grounds but again related to fax-to-email. Anybody knows what is latest in this regard? Can now fax-to-email be used without fear of being

How to purchase R on CD
My organization has a policy against "installing software downloaded from the Internet." There is a waiver procedure, but it is difficult and lengthy. It is much easier to get approval to purchase software, even if it is a CD copy of open-source. However, a search on r-project.org didn't seem to show any way of obtaining the distribution in this way. Any clues would be
